About this property

The Best Little A-frame in Texas--Waterfront Cabin

Get the R & R you crave at The Best Little A-frame in Texas. Take in the views from the expansive deck, enjoy the hot tub, toast marshmallows over the fire pit, or use the gas grill under the portico. In renovating the 1,000 sq ft space (during 2020-221), we embraced bright colors and a rustic-industrial vibe with a little boho thrown in. Less than 50 miles from downtown Dallas. We recommend guests who stay with us drive a truck, SUV, or 4-wheel drive vehicle. Central heat/air.

The Best Little A-frame in Texas is located on three wooded acres on Lake Tawakoni. Like most lake lots, it's long and skinny, but our fencing offers privacy. The area is heavily wooded, so you will have lots of leaves (on the ground, deck, and driveway) in the fall and winter.

The bedroom downstairs has a king bed with high-end mattress and topper. (2 guests)
The upstairs is divided into two parts with stairs in between but no doors. One half has a queen bed, and the other half has futon seating, which converts to a full bed. (up to 4 guests)
The living room also has two full-sized sofas. (2 guests)

The bathroom has a walk-in shower and plenty of shelving.

The well-equipped kitchen has zinc countertops, farm-style sink, range and dishwasher, pots and pans and cooking utensils you need to prepare meals for your family and friends. Keep your food cold in the cutest retro red fridge you ever saw!

In the dining room, we have a beverage bar complete with Keurig (and a few K-cups), a regular coffee pot, and a mini-fridge.

The cabin provides the perfect setting for your fishing weekend, couples’ weekend, family vacation/reunion, girls’ getaway, or solo adventure. Our peaceful, not-quite-a tiny home is nestled on quiet Kitsee Inlet--the southwest part of Lake Tawakoni. Located just minutes from Quinlan where you can eat out or buy groceries. The World-Famous First Monday Trade Days in Canton is only 34 miles south. The guys can fish while the girls shop ‘til they drop!

The property offers exquisite views of the lake and has absolutely gorgeous sunsets.

Bret and I love the beauty of mixing metal and wood in furniture and decor, and we embraced that theme throughout the A-frame, especially with the furniture, on the stairs, and in the dining room and kitchen (metal ceilings, countertops, and heat guard behind the range). Except for mattresses and sofas, we repurposed or built most of the furniture ourselves.

Whether you choose to sip iced tea (or wine) on the back porch, take your boat out on the lake, or toast marshmallows over the fire pit, you’ll feel stress just melt away. We have horseshoes and corn hole available for hours of family fun!

You can fish from the shore or rent a boat at one of the local rentals. NOTE: We do not have a dock or a lift.

Prefer to stay indoors? We’ve got you covered there, as well. Play games or snuggle up while you watch a movie on our streaming TV. Family bonding time has never been better.

We allow small to medium-sized dogs WITH HOST APPROVAL. Small fee required.

THINGS TO NOTE:

1. Host is not liable for any incidents in regards to the house, property, and/or lake.

2. Because we are now living in a world with COVID, we encourage you to purchase travel insurance that will cover "pandemic" when you book your stay. We have a strict cancellation policy and will not refund payment. Thanks for understanding.

3. We do not allow RV hook-ups on this property, but there are several RV parks situated around Lake Tawakoni.

4. We do not reimburse any rental monies due to low lake levels. There is a public ramp close to the property (should the lake be too low to launch from our property), and boats can be tied to the dock once the boat is in the water.

5. Our A-frame is located in an eclectic area. You might see a multi-million dollar farm/estate right down the street from a collection of mobile homes and campers. Many Texas lake areas have situations similar to this.

Parking is plentiful on the gravel driveway, and there are two covered spaces under the carport.

We strongly recommend guests who stay with us drive a truck, SUV, or 4-wheel drive vehicle. The last half mile is a dirt road that is not maintained by the city or county (only the area residents). You will need a vehicle to get around, as it's a long walk back into town.

We built a large deck along the lake side of the house, which is where the front door of the house is located. It's the perfect place to lounge and read a book or just take in the beautiful lake views. Sunsets are AMAZING!

Please take care when walking on the deck as most parts of it do not have railings. We didn't want to impede the view.

Bret and I have been short-term rental hosts for seven years now, and we enjoy working with (and occasionally meeting) guests from all over the country. We both have day jobs, but our passion is renovating and hosting unique, rustic-industrial-boho waterfront properties.

Why they chose this property

We looked for approximately two years for just the right spot. When this adorable A-frame came on the market, we saw it that afternoon. There were dozens of bids, but the sellers picked ours! During the 1.5 years of DIY renovations, we painstakingly and lovingly put our unique rustic, industrial, boho stamp on this place. We believe we've created a wonderful getaway for a great price.

Just wait until you see your first sunset! You'll be hooked!

What makes this property unique

Besides the obvious coolness of the A-frame architecture, we also offer an expansive back deck that allows guests to spend hours in shade or take in the wonderful sunsets over the lake.

We realize the rustic-industrial-boho vibe might not be everyone's preference for their primary home, but it's super fun for a getaway!
