Spacious Sunrise studio is located above our garage, providing an elevated view of surroundings from an abundance of windows that let in both the beauty and the light. The mountain and water views allow guests to enjoy the gorgeous wilds of Alaska from their own cozy haven decorated in warm hues of a sunrise. The queen-sized bed is a comfortable sleeping space for a couple, while the double sofa-sleeper provides additional sleeping space for children.
The rental is located right on historic Treadwell townsite, where guests can enjoy lazy walks through the forested trails that were once the streets of a booming gold mining town. Peppered with historic buildings, informative signs, and relics from times long past, the trails wind past babbling brooks out to Juneau’s best beach where views of Gastineau channel are made all the more beautiful by a backdrop of precipitous waterfalls cascading down to the shore. Sandy Beach Playground is a short jaunt further down the beach or trails. And for those wanting to gain some elevation on a longer hiking adventure, Mount Jumbo trailhead is just a five-minute walk around the corner.
When hungry, guests will enjoy the ease of preparing food in the fully equipped kitchen or on the bbq, or may instead choose to take a short scenic walk to the Douglas café or Island Pub, where they make amazing pizza cooked in a wood-fired oven. Other dining options, shopping and adventure also await in downtown Juneau, which is just a 10 minute drive in a private vehicle. You can also enjoy the convenience of public transportation to reach Juneau, with buses running every 30 minutes from the stop located just a block away.
We have strong unlimited internet, so you should have no problems connecting for telework or to share your adventures with friends and family. Other amenities that will make a stay more comfortable include a flat screen tv equipped with Roku for movies and entertainment, a washer and dryer, and private off-street parking. Because the unit is on the second floor, it must be accessed by stairs, and so it not a good fit for anyone with mobility issues.
Sorry, no pets or smoking inside the apartment or on the grounds.
Note: Our family of four lives in the log home adjacent to the rental. Although we are very respectful of our visitors with regard to noise, a bit of mild family sounds should be expected here and there during normal waking hours (7a-10p), such as our kids and friends and/or our bernedoodle pup romping around the property. Most of the time our location is very serene. Please feel free to inquire if any questions!

Very comfortable had everything we needed for an extended stay, less than 15 minutes to all of the events we had scheduled. 20 minutes or less to the Airport it was perfect for our trip will definitely add to our favorites.
The Sandy Beach studio apt was super cute, thoughtfully equipped, comfy, clean - we would stay there again!
Our hosts were friendly, accessible & quick to respond. Highly recommend this beautiful space!
This is a perfect getaway from downtown Juneau with trails close by and easy beach access. From the window you can see cruise ships sliding in and out of the channel framed by trees. The owners were helpful and their pdf had great tips on dining. We highly recommend this place.
Great rental in a quiet neighborhood with beautiful views. Rental was just as presented on VRBO site. Host was very responsive and easy to communicate with. Would definitely stay again.
So glad that you were happy with your time at Sunrise Studio and were able to take advantage of the patio furniture to relax and enjoy the views!

We loved our stay so much that we opted to stay there one day in lieu of any expeditions. The beach access and views were stunning. Having a kitchen and w/d made it feel like a home away from home. We were VERY pleased and hope to stay there again!

Property was as listed… Cleaning service didn’t do as well of a job as when I stayed there earlier in June… but otherwise a great place to stay…

Thank you so much for choosing to stay with us a second time… what a compliment! I am so glad that you continued to enjoy the accommodations and local amenities, and apologize again that the new cleaning company left some items in the washer. Rest assured I will take measures this does not happen again, and I thank you for letting me know!

Thank you for the kind review and I am so glad that you enjoyed your stay, relaxing on the covered deck by the fire pit, and exploring the nearby trails and beach! Best wishes for the rest of your summer!
I could not believe how Karin had everything and more inside of the studio. Both my mom and I were extremely impressed. We loved the atmosphere, the help from Karin, and the accessibility to the beach. It was so worth being away from Juneau. We can not thank Karin enough for providing such a great VRBO.
We stayed for a milestone anniversary getaway. It was perfect for 2 & would work well for 4. Being up high and having a view of the trees and Gastineau Channel made it feel a little like you're staying in a treehouse. It was SO peaceful listening to the eagles and the Ravens and just steps to Treadwell trail. Convenient with easy access to bus line. In rainy Juneau the bright sunny colors were wonderful.

About the host
Hosted by Karin McCoy
Karin and Sanjay live in the upstairs the adjacent log home with their two children. They strive not to intrude on the privacy of their guests, yet are easily reached should their assistance be needed.
Why they chose this property
We have lived in Juneau since 2005, and are happy to share our local knowledge of the area. We love the location of our property "at the end of the road" on Douglas. The house is unique in that it is one of the few log homes in Juneau, the logs for which were pulled from the adjacent forest. The property is nestled at the rainforest edge above Sandy Beach and the historic Treadwell townsite and trails, and right around the corner from the Mt. Jumbo trailhead. We are a very quiet location away from the hustle, but still just a short walk to downtown Douglas and a 10 minute drive to downtown Juneau. And while our location has a lovely nestled-in-nature feel, it is fully equipped with everything you might need, including wifi, full kitchen and washer/dryer.
What makes this property unique
This property has uniquely easy access to some of the most stunning walks and hikes in Juneau. There are private stairs leading from the yard directly down to Treadwell trail, and you can be at the best beach in Juneau in just a couple minutes! You can sit in the apartment or on the deck looking at the mountains and listening to the adjacent babbling brooks while watching the eagles soar or the cruise ships slide by. Mt. Jumbo trailhead is a quick 5 minute walk away, and there is great hiking or trail running opportunities along the Treadwell Ditch trail. If you you want to be nestled in nature, but close to the action, this is your spot!
