Relaxing Ranch Style Waterfront Home--30 minutes from Ann Arbor

Relax with the whole family at this peaceful location right on the lake. Beautiful sunset views. Great for a couples quiet getaway or fun for the whole family. Take the kayak or canoe out on the lake or rent a pontoon boat from Wonderland’s Marina! Spend time fishing on the dock. Keep an eye out for the deer that come at twilight. 30-minutes from Ann Arbor for sporting events or a night on the town.

Details:
This comfortable lakeside home has front and backyard areas. There is a bird feeder frequented by songbirds on one side and a gorgeous view of the lake on the other. The back patio has a table and chairs. There is also a fire pit with loveseat by the water. There is a neighboring house close to the left and untouched property to the right which gives the cottage the feel of being more remote in nature, even as it is among the other lake houses.

Inside, you’ll step into the open concept living area with a kitchen, dining table, breakfast nook, and two couches framing the sliding window doors that open to the lake. To the left of the living area is the entrance to the first bedroom with two queen beds and a large window looking out over the lake. The spacious attached bathroom with heated floors has a walk-in closet turned nursery. On the other side of home, through the kitchen, you’ll find the other bathroom and bedrooms with a queen bedroom overlooking the lake and a bunk room for the kids.

The laundry room and private office area can be accessed through the bunk room or from the patio area through sliding glass doors. The office has windows on all sides and a nice view of the lake. It’s a great spot to work in or relax.

Tips:
Driving up, it can be easy to miss! Look for the two tall pine trees.

We have a new Kinetico water softening system and a tankless water heater. It takes time to warm up. Leave 3-4 minutes before your shower to make sure the water is just right. Enjoy the heated floors in the largest bathroom!

Perfect getaway for families!

This property is absolutely perfect especially if you have young children. The host was very gracious and the property itself had everything you would ever need. Amenities were second to none, and the place was spotless and well taken care of by the owners. We had an amazing time and will be back without a doubt!

Spacious waterfront house, very clean, and well equipped kitchen. We stayed there for thanksgiving so we didn’t do a lot outside, but there is an outdoor table, small lawn, and a mini beach. There’s a house less than 40’ from one side but not visible inside, and the other side is a large natural marsh. Good communication with the host, super easy.

Lovely home with the most beautiful view! We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this property and would stay here again. Beds were very comfortable and we had everything we needed. The house sits on little portage which is a nature paradise! It was easy to get to the bigger lake and ride on our ski boat. It was also nice that they provided kayaks. The house was very easy to communicate with. We had lots of space and gorgeous lake!

A Fun Getaway!

We stayed with two families in this house and it was fine for what we needed. Well stocked and right on the water. House and yard is not quite as pictured, but it was fine. We loved the area, but we did have to bring our smaller boat to fit it under some of the bridges on the chain of lakes. The boys caught plenty of fish on the lake we stayed on so they were happy!

Wonderful stay!

We had such a nice time over the holiday weekend. The space was perfect for me and my wife with our 19-month old, my parents, and my sister-in-law to all stay, and we had plenty of room to host my brother and wife and two children during the say for two days. The backyard was lovely and very close to the water. We made great use of the fire pit and the grill. Our son loved the little beach area and all of the fun toys that were available for him. Great, great place to stay if you’re looking to do something similar to what we did. Oh and as a bonus the neighbors have two very sweet dogs :)

Perfect Country Lakehouse

We loved our stay here! The house was cozy with a comfortable living space, well appointed kitchen, and functional bedrooms that suited our party of 8 (6 adults, 2 kids) perfectly. The crib in the master closet was perfect for the baby in our family and the supply of kiddo books, highchair, and plastic cups, plates, and bowls made vacation with our littles much easier. The lake views were beautiful, even in the winter and we loved watching the ducks and other birds skate/swim on the water/ice. The host was amazing and fast to respond from when we booked through our stay. Thank you so much!!!

Great Stay, beautiful view, friendly neighbors

My paintball team and I stayed here for an event in the next town over. Our stay as absolutely wonderful, the view of the lake right outside of the house was a pleasant one to see every morning and night. Having a fire literally inches from the water was surreal and definitely was a selling point on this trip. The house itself was in immaculate shape and the beds and bedrooms were very comfortable. The hostess was amazing at communicating and very helpful with all of the questions I had! I definitely would recommend staying here, there is not a single regret. Even with kids, this place is decked out in childproofing and definitely would be a great spot for a family trip. My wife and I will definitely be staying again!

This great house was fantastic for our Parents' Weekend with our Wolverine. We were able to have grandparents, parents, and sibling stay in this inviting home. Our family of 5 loves to swim, hike, and explore nature. There are so many fun opportunities near Little Portage Lake. The cottage is also a cozy spot to spend time together and enjoy the gorgeous views.

Why they chose this property

Little Portage Lake is a quiet lake on the chain of lakes with views of nature that make you feel like you're up north. In addition, the canal to Big Portage Lake is right around the corner and leads to a high energy water sports lake - so you can have the best of both worlds!

What makes this property unique

We love the views from the bedroom, office, and living room windows, which are all right up next to the lake. The sloping entrance to the water used to be a boat launch. It's the perfect spot for little ones to play in the shallow water, and we love taking the kayak or canoe out to swim in the deeper areas. The home has some love-able quirks - like the addition of the sun room/office with windows on all sides.
