Food/drink: Vega Lodge (1.5 miles away) offers dining and drink (seasonal) and Collbran (25 minute drive) offers a deli and a pizza parlor.
FOR SNOWMOBILING TO THE TOP OF THE MESA: Start right at the cabin. The Vega Snowmobile Trail #545 begins at the Vega State Park Trailhead just after crossing the dam and ends at an intersection with the Sunlight to Powderhorn Trail (SP). On the Sunlight to Powderhorn Trail Map the Vega Trail is #37 (66 6/10 Road). There is a large parking lot at this Trailhead for trailers and you can drive snowmobiles to and from the cabin from there.
The Trailhead #37-A is just down from the cabin at the cross roads of Parkview Road and 64 6/10 Road. This trail 37-A intersects #37. While our guest you can park trailers on Parkview road tight to the right so that the plow can drive by. Then drive the snowmobile or your car/truck to and from the cabin.
The trail #37 continues on Forest Service Road 262 in the Park Creek drainage through aspen into open meadows in Big Park. About half way through the meadow, the trail will intersect the SP Trail near Monument Creek. NOTE: The large heated garage is the perfect place to park and work on your snowmobiles.

Great get-away for our family. We love going up to Vega and have been to the cabin in the past. Despite an unusual lack of snow, we were able to have a great time thanks to everything the cabin has to offer. Great stay!
We've booked this cabin multiple times over the years and it is always a wonderful and enjoyable experience!!! Big, spacious, and packed with lots of things to do!!!
The cabin is very comfortable and had a lot of space would
stay there again. There is an ice machine that is a big plus
because of the travel time to get to town, so that was nice
lots of wildlife to see from the cabin. great for families.
We love staying here. Besides the ride in and out for snowmobiles the cabin has all the gear to play in the snow with. The owners are great to work with and the house is large enough for everyone to have some space to get away from the group if they want to. Thank you again for a great weekend.
The check in process was seamless! The cabin was as advertised online! The owners where great to work with! We will definitely be back during the summer to utilize the summer amenities!
This mountain cabin was one of our favorites! It is located at a perfect location, Lake Vega, Vega Lodge, Collbran, and Rifle Falls! The cabin itself is wonderful place for our family of 14. Large deck is great, and everything you need to cook and live with. Beautiful!!
We love staying here and acces to the snowmobile trails is great. The house is large with several areas people can set visit and relax. The grandson loved playing with the blocks and trying to snowshoe.
The owners were excellent. They are quick to respond and very helpful. The cabin was beautiful and well equipped with everything we needed. There was plenty of space for our group of thirteen to spread out and relax. The canoes and bikes were well used and so much fun.
What a stunning property! We spent a fantastic weekend here, enjoying both the lake and the house. Owners communicated fantastically throughout, the house is stocked full of fun activities, amenities and accessories, you will lack for nothing! Couldn’t have been more satisfied with the our whole experience - we will be back for sure.
This house is absolutely gorgeous beautiful craftsmanship. Huge home big enough for multi families, plenty of space to move around with a group of 12. Love that they have sleds, snowshoes etc to play in the snow around the property. It was very peaceful and quiet. Would love to come back and see the place during spring/summer!!
We loved the front porch the best. We had four littles under two and they were able to safely play, crawl and navigate this large area!
Also, our large family ate all our meals on the porch, including all four high chairs.
Many thanks!

About the host
Hosted by Todd & Rhonda Tawzer
We are Todd and Rhonda Tawzer--we moved from Portland, Oregon to Grand Junction, CO in 2011 and soon after discovered Vega Lake @ a 1 hour drive from our home. We are a large blended family (13 kids total between us) and we purchased and furnished this cabin for our large family to enjoy comfortably---vacations were just soooo expensive for a group our size so we decided to invest in our own vacation home! Other large groups soon DISCOVERED OUR CABIN, and asked us if we would be willing to share it with them. Since then, we have shared it with hundreds and hundreds of guests. We love the cabin--and with love to share it with others that understand and respect it's value and the rare opportunity it presents for reconnecting to nature. The cabin is stunning, and it sits in a beautiful, peaceful location with a nearby lake (1/2 mile away) that is full of fish!
Why they chose this property
We love the peaceful, relaxing natural setting--perfect for hiking, biking, 4 wheeling, snowmobiling, cross country skiing and fishing. Vega Lake has some of the best fishing in Mesa Colorado. It is also the perfect place to get away and curl up with a great book.
What makes this property unique
Vega is the largest lake in Mesa County. We are on located on the Grand Mesa which is the largest flat top mountain in the world.
