Crawford County is located in southwest Wisconsin in the heart of the unique Driftless Region. This small area that includes portions of Wisconsin, Minnesota, Iowa, and Illinois was bypassed by glaciers in the last Ice Age. As a result, the area avoided the flattening effect of glaciers on the land. Glacial runoff created many river valleys, steep hills, and limestone bluffs throughout the region. The county is bordered on the west by the Mississippi River, the Wisconsin River to the south, and the Kickapoo River divides the county north to south.

Whether you bring your family, have a girls weekend, or come with friends you are bound to enjoy some cowboy life.

Codys Ranch makes every effort to provide you a safe and enjoyable experience at the ranch. However, riding horses, being around cattle, horses, dogs and other farm animals, hiking, being around ponds, being in the barn, barnyard and other out-buildings, being around machinery, equipment, and other objects, and participating in activities on the ranch by their very nature include risks of serious injury. Each guest will need to sign a liability release.

No smoking or no e-cigarettes.

Do you have a horse and want to bring your horse? We may be able to accommodate you. Please message to discuss.

Are you an avid road cyclist? We have ideas for riding and possibly may have someone available to cycle with you.

Not what we expected
I missed the part in the listing that this was 'part' of a home that was on the lower level with owner and his 3 dogs living above. They were up all night walking around - even with ear plugs in, it was difficult to sleep as the noise was right above our bedroom. Didn't assign us a security code to get into the home, so had to use the owners - not so secure. 3 big dogs that were let out when we were outdoors. I'm a dog person but I was weary of these 3. 1 of them took my arm in his jaw as we were trying to load our cars to leave. Pretty dusty in the unit as well. Owner was nice, but we wanted a quiet weekend away and not needing to tell him what we were doing/going each day. Won't go back.

Long weekend with the family
Had an amazing long weekend with the family at Cody's Ranch. Between Ed and his stories (Ed is the property manager), the views, the horses, chickens, donkey and cows, getting to feed them, the horse riding lesson, getting to take my son on the ATV on the miles and miles of trails on the property, the campfires and having some fun burning some wood with some branding irons, it was perfect!

Horrible host
Dog doo everywhere. His 3 very large dogs tried to attack my kids several times. They need to be on leashes for sure. Host took my 14yr old on a crazy trail ride with no safty grear. While on trail ride host rode over native American grave sites and then joked about it. He told my 14 that iw he can tell everyone that he drove over 3 dead indians. Host said he was only going to show where trail begins which is 20ft from house. Dog stole one of my wifes shoes host didnt care. So now we are out a pair of shoes. Hot tub was cold. Host went to our fire pit started a fire and then waited at the fire for us to come home . He didnt leave our area until my wife asked if he planned on being there long because we wanted alone time. The whole point of going on a family vacation is to be with family . I would not recommend bringing your family to this place. For the money we paid it was not worth it at all

In town for a wedding and had a short stay. Were fortunate to get an ATV tour of property which was a treat. Wish we had more time.

A family owned property for 66 years. My father bought this farm when I was 3 years old. I grew up here and graduated high school right here. I started riding horses at a very young age and did rodeo events. After I had my family, I trained Quarter Horses for my daughter to show in the pleasure circuit. We traveled the nation competing at Palomino Horse Breeders of America shows and were highly successful for many years. I look forward to you coming to enjoy this property.

Why they chose this property

This property represents my whole life. From 1956 to present.

This property has a unique characteristic of Indian mounds. There are 12 indian mounds on the northwest corner of the ranch.
