Amazing as it might seem, the photos of this property do not do it justice. The land is BEAUTIFUL and well maintained. The pond is full of bright, colorful koi fish, lily pads and makes the most incredible spot for a calm kayak ride. The home is warm, inviting, clean and suited all of our needs.
This was an absolutely fabulous place to stay. The owners were welcoming and helpful. The property was clean and spacious with everything that we would need. The view was amazing to wake up to and the fishing was great! We were able to stay in the country but have a great day in Niagara falls as well. Our teenage boys weren't bored at all and we had some well needed family time!
Everything in the home was clean and organized. Pond was nice to fish in. Within a short distance of a good many attractions. Nice relaxing place to stay.
We were so happy that the property and house looked the same as the posting - gorgeous and serene! All the amenities were perfect and we especially loved using the kayaks. The water was very nice and we loved seeing the koi fish. A small word of caution for swimmers - there are a few nippy fish in there, but an easy (and glorious) work around was to stay on floats or in the kayaks with a refreshing beverage.Communicating with Tonya and Chad was easy and they were quickly responsive. We loved our stay and will be back!
The property was pristine and had several small charming extras- from snacks to makeup wipes to wood for the fire pit! We felt very lucky that we found this gem.
I took my 3 teenage children here for a long weekend. The cabin was clean and cozy. The property was beautiful! I wish we could have stayed longer and will look to book again in the future. We enjoyed hiking local trails and my boys fished the pond and caught several bass. It was a great weekend trip!
Forest Retreat is beautifully located by state forest area. The trees, the large pond in the backyard, and the natural setting are very enjoyable. Also, it is centrally located near so many activities and places to see. The home was very well set up with everything we needed, and the views through the large windows were breathtaking. It was a wonderful stay, and we highly recommend Forest Retreat!
Beautiful property just as described. Absolutely loved the amenities and decor. Easy communication with the owner, very helpful. Clean, little touches like coffee and snacks provided which was very nice. Loved the pond and provided kayaks for our enjoyment. Would definitely come back. The location is sooo peaceful which was a bonus!
The house and surrounding yard is perfect if you want to have privacy and enjoy nature. The pond is great. Saw some geese, a deer and a heron on the pond. Had a nice fire in the outside fire pit. Unfortunately it rained for 3 days while we were there, but enjoyed some board games and a trip to Niagara Falls.
This house is so deep in the middle of Chautauqua County, it’s almost isolated. It was wonderful.
It did rain the entire time we were there but we were still able to enjoy the peaceful quiet country.
There were koi fish in the pond that came to the surface occasionally
The inside was lovely, giving you that rustic cabin charm
The floor plan is open which was nice for a family dinner. I was able to put out crock pots with food for people.
There is a coffee station (Keurig) just outside the kitchen which I liked because it kept people out of the way as I prepared food.
The stove/oven looks intimidating but it’s not. It’s a regular gas stovetop and oven, very easy to use
I will consider this location again when we visit next time
Secluded location about 30 minutes from Jamestown. House and grounds are beautiful. Rained most of our stay,so did not spend much time outside. If we did the cushions were left out and all wet. A lot of kids toys on deck, kinda junked up the place a little. Be nice if toys were stored and could be brought out when needed. House is decorated very nicely in the cabin theme. Slot of kitchen utensils and pots and pans. Cool stove. Beds were a little hard for me and towels a little beat up. Huge fireplace , but note on it not to use, would have been nice to use in the chilly nights. Wall of windows is very cool, but a few of the windows are foggy and hard to see through. Ouse mostly clean, floor little dirty when we wiped up a spill. Sectional couch a little beat up found a pair of glasses and hair clip in cushions. Lights did not work in laundry room. Nights in kitchen are an amber color which gives a weird color to food. Definitely a summer house . Large dining room table and chairs. A lot of old outdated food in cupboards . A lot of spices to be used as well as foil, plastic wrap etc.. overall a nice fall getaway, and we had a good time despite the weather and the several minor things with the house.
The property was better than I could have ever hoped for. Very peaceful and beautiful place that was exactly what we were looking for and more. The family and the dogs all had a great and relaxing stay and the owners were very accommodating. The property had everything we needed.
I grew up in the area and my husband grew up in Ohio. We have a beautiful 7 year old daughter. We travel in our 5th wheel all over the U.S. for work. During our free time we enjoy spending our days doing outdoor activities.
