We had a wonderful, peaceful stay at the cabin and look forward to planning another getaway there in the near future. Communications with the host were excellent and we felt very welcome. We loved the setting, views, comfy beds and furniture, roomy interior, and book collection. For our family of train/bird/astronomy nerds, we couldn’t have picked a better spot!

I love the fact you covered all my things about our farm in your review. The blessing of Dark Skies is perhpaps my favorite. I look forward to welcoming you back during kayak season.
This was a repeat visit and the cabin was as great as it was before. Perched on a bluff overlooking a bend in the James River, the cozy log cabin provided a wonderful winter retreat for our family of 5 adults. Elizabeth is a great host, the directions were spot-on, and the bedroom are comfortable. The kitchen had everything we needed to cook 2 dinners and 2 breakfasts. Thoroughly enjoyed it once again.

We love it when we get to host repeat guests. Thank you returning and feeling like our "old friends"!
The log cabin was rustic, but very relaxing, and had everything normally needed. The host was probably the most accommodating I have experienced in many stays. Very limited food in proximity to the cabin. Bring what you need.

We are happy you had a relaxing stay. One of the down sides of our peaceful, quiet location with beautiful dark skies is definitely that we only have a handful of restaraunts 10-20minutes away. It is good advice to bring what you need, just in case!
River’s Bend cottage is a delightful place to stay whether to rock on the porch, grill dinner outside, or hike or raft along the Upper James River. Our host was easily available to reach and was responsive to our questions and requests.
Had a great time at cabin. Pictures do not do it justice. Would recommend to anyone. My wife and I especially enjoyed the kayaks and spending time on the river. Communication with host was exceptional.

We enjoyed having you, come again for some winter seclsuion. You are welcome always.
Unfortunately the weather didn't cooperate during our stay, but the well stocked cabin gave the family plenty of entertainment inside and warm around the fireplace.

We are happy you enjoyed the pool table and other games. That weather did NOT cooperate but you guys were troopers!
Beth thought of everything. We had such a nice time sharing meals around the table and relaxing on the porch. The boys loved the river beach and the kayaks. Caught some catfish. Everything inside was clean and confortable!
