THE BIG YELLOW HOUSE

Welcome to The Big Yellow House, a Cape Cod-style waterfront home on Lake Couchiching designed for families and respectful groups looking to relax, reconnect and enjoy cottage life right on the water!

The home features four bedrooms, a spacious open-concept kitchen and living area, a large waterfront deck, beautiful lake views and plenty of room to enjoy time together.

In the summer, guests can relax on the seasonal L-shaped dock, sit back in a Muskoka chair and enjoy the water, wildlife and peaceful surroundings. From the rear of the property, you can also see Big Chief Island.

The home is located in Cumberland Beach, a quiet lakeside community just north of Orillia. It is approximately 2 km from the famous Weber’s Burgers and about 20 minutes from Casino Rama.

Inside, you’ll find a fully equipped kitchen, comfortable living space and a large-screen television with streaming capability for rainy days or quiet evenings.

Outside, guests can enjoy:

The water is generally shallow near shore and gradually becomes deeper farther out. Water shoes are recommended because the lake bottom can be soft and sandy in places.

The home accommodates up to 10 guests.

Bedroom layout:

• Primary bedroom with king-size bed
• Second bedroom with queen-size bed
• Third bedroom with two queen-size beds
• Main-floor bunk room for guests who prefer additional sleeping space or privacy

Three bedrooms are located upstairs, and the bunk room is on the main floor.

The property is ideal for families and peaceful getaways. It is not suitable for parties, loud music or large gatherings. The home is located in a quiet community with nearby neighbours, so we ask guests to respect the surroundings at all times.

You may be required to answer a series of questions about your group within 48 hours of booking acceptance before they become final.
Pls ensure you leave the house the same way you found it. (garbages outside, beds stripped and all dishes put away)

Great property. The waterfront was beautiful and, homey. A bonus was the waterfowl swimming by each day, including swans. How good is that! DJ was very good to deal with.

We had a great time at the house. The location on the lake was beautiful and we tried to spend as much time as possible on the deck, despite the heat. The beds were incredibly comfortable! The kitchen was well stocked with everything we needed for cooking and there were plenty of towels, wash cloths and toiletries in the bathrooms.We want to thank you for being so available to help us when we needed assistance and we would love to come back. And thank you also for the tip about the water shoes.

Our family group of 4 adults and two teens had a lovely stay at this venue on the May holiday weekend. The inside cleanliness was excellent and the 4 stars on this item was only because the owner had not yet cleared up the outside debris and furniture on the lower level patio after the winter. As the dock was not in yet that weekend, we didn't get to use the paddle boat or canoe.There were ample supplies in the house/cottage and instructions on how to use the heating and air conditioning. The beds were comfortable and the kitchen was well supplied with all the necessities.The downstairs was quite cold in May but there was a downstairs heater and electric fireplace heater.We enjoyed the deck overlooking the lake and used the BBQ for two of our meals.We didn't get to use the Big Yellow House as reserved due to some renovations but the owner kept the Hostaville free for us to use and the comments are based on this location.

Our stay was very pleasant. We definitely appreciated how the kitchen cupboards were labelled and so well stocked. The beds were extremely comfortable. We were very pleased to find the beds already made up. It was so convenient having the garbage and recycling bins in the driveway when we checked out.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. It was wonderful to wake up each morning to the sunrise over the lake. It is a beautiful home in a great location. DJ, the property manager was a pleasure to communicate with. We highly recommend this property. We just wish we could have stayed longer to enjoy the pedalboat and paddleboards.

One of the better lakefront properties we’ve visited. The dock and area of the lake was really calm and ideal relative to other areas of Lake Simcoe we’ve visited. The house was well kept and had all the amenities we needed.

Family weekend trip

Had a lovely time getting family together for the last weekend of summer, already planning when we can go back! Highly recommend when travelling with children. My kids loved playing in the bunk room, there were also toys and boardgames available that the whole family could play.

Why they chose this property

This property was built by my parents who lived there from 1989 until 2022. Instead of selling the property entire we decided to allow others to enjoy it the way that we have. It is truly a family experience.
