About this property

Bright, spacious home with ocean views nestled in the woods of Long Island, ME

Long Island is a quiet 400-year-old fishing community - removed from the hustle of mainland life. A quick ferry ride (with regular service) will get you from Portland harbor to Raven House - which was completely redone in 2020 - Enjoy freshly ground coffee on the upper deck with views of the ocean, prepare your meals in our professionally appointed kitchen complete with oversize fridge and freezer (so you won't have to leave the island for more food). Pack up beach chairs towels & cooler to spend the day at one of our many beaches, including South Beach, which has been called Casco Bay's most pristine white sand beach - also perfect for a sunrise walk. Order lobsters fresh off the boat for your evening meal. If it's cool, you can sit by the fireplace downstairs or take advantage of the outdoor fireplace on the upper deck. The Master bedroom and en suite bathroom have a bathtub if you have little ones. A guest bath and an upstairs bath provide plenty of comfort and space for up to eight guests. If you don't feel like cooking - head to the Hardshell café for a full traditional lobster feast or the Bakehouse Café for the best-baked goods, coffee, freshly tapped beer, and homemade pizza. At Raven House, we try to leave a minimal environmental footprint and encourage you to do the same. All mattresses are cotton futons with soft toppers. The house is equipped with linens, beach supplies, toilet paper, paper towels, soap, and shampoo.
This is our family home- we welcome you to relax and enjoy all Long Island and Raven House has to offer. The house is 4 seasons and available for year-round rental. It's the perfect escape if it's tranquility you are seeking. No traffic, no hustle, plenty of stars, and lots of sea and sand.

Fantastic Long Island
We rented this home for a three generation family trip and it had everything for everyone. I have to comment that in addition to this house being beautiful on a beautiful island, it was also perfect if someone in your family needs the accessibility of a first floor bedroom, which ours did. The owners were helpful and responsive as we planned our trip. The house is so many thoughtful/strategic details there are too many to list! Large porches in both the sea and land sides of the houses mean you can enjoy being outside at all times, just pick your spot! This place is a jem!

Hello! We are glad you were considering a stay at Raven house. I am originally from Maine and Mike is from New Hampshire. We absolutely love the state of Maine and are so happy to share it with you. We currently live on campus at a boarding school in the lakes and mountains district of Maine. With 4 kids, we spend a lot of time cooking and attending sporting events.

Why they chose this property

My parents have summered on Long Island since 2010. After many years of experiencing the summer and winter magic of LO with them, we decided we wanted a place of our own. We purchased Raven house in 2018 completely gutted it and lovingly restored almost every inch of it ourselves. We love the peace and tranquility of being removed from the hustle and bustle of the mainland - yet a quick ferry ride to some of the best restaurants in the country.

What makes this property unique

No traffic, only the sound of the seagulls and the smell of the ocean. Long Island offers a variety of beaches. We love the white sands of South Beach for swimming and body surfing as well as a morning walk. For evenings and sunsets, we recommend Fowler's.
