We booked The 1913 because of its downtown Celina location and excellent ratings. We were genuinely looking forward to this stay. Within minutes of walking in, we knew something was seriously wrong. The home had an overwhelming pet urine odor throughout. We tried to push through it for several hours, hoping it would become manageable. It did not. The smell was coming from rugs throughout the house, and there is visible staining at the base of the front room drapes consistent with a dog having urinated on them. The moment that ended our stay was finding a live cockroach on the front room floor. We have photos and video of all of it.We packed up and checked into a hotel that same evening at our own expense, and spent the following day finding replacement lodging for our remaining five nights — costs we never anticipated. A trip that should have cost 2,600 ended up costing nearly 6,000 because of the condition of this property. When we contacted the host, she denied the odor, attributed the drape staining to a roof leak, and offered 500 on a 2,600 booking. We provided photos and a hotel receipt. We were told no further refund would be offered. We have never written a negative review in our lives. We are posting this because we booked based on reviews just like this one, and future guests deserve an honest account of what we experienced.
