Come share stunning views from our oceanfront deck w/firepit, BBQ & dining table. Imagine enjoying wine at sunset, sitting around the firepit listening to waves crashing below or sipping your morning coffee, overlooking our gorgeous cove. Wildlife viewing is great! Romantic setting with fireplace, comfy bed, luxurious linens. Enhanced cleaning protocol. Private entry, located inside gated, oceanfront estate.
Minutes away: many beaches, rivers, hiking trails, redwoods, Samuel Boardman Scenic Coastal Corridor, jet boat river ride.

The space:
Although the suite doesn’t have an oceanfront view, our guests really love the beautiful treetop and garden view. It feels very private and peaceful. Octopus 🐙 suite is a light filled, spacious studio, charmingly decorated with a mix of contemporary, antiques and octopus whimsy. Perfect for a couple. King bed or 2 XL twin beds, your choice.
It’s a 30-second walk to amazing oceanfront cove views, wildlife viewing platform, fire pit and BBQ. Suite has a private entry with treetop and garden views. You will be the only guest on the property. We think you’ll love relaxing here!

In the suite is our detailed notebook for our guests featuring our favorite local restaurants and specialties, best hiking trails, suggestions for full and half day adventures and other fun activities. Feel free to use the beach towels and chairs provided for your day adventures.
After a busy day exploring the coast, you'll love returning to OCTOPUS SUITE to relax by the fireplace and 50" TV. Full kitchen, waterfall shower head, tub; gorgeous tree-filled garden views and glimpses of glorious sunrises.

The Octopus Suite is a very nice, well appointed space with everything one would need to enjoy the stay. Beach/cove access is convenient and the beach is surprisingly private. Get away at the cove

The property is just beautiful. From the private beach, tide pools, sunsets on the deck, to watching the beautiful pine trees swaying in the cool breeze from the suite in the morning light. It is a great place to get away and relax. Great location, very clean, the host is accessible and very kind.

This is the place to stay! I flew from NJ to photograph a dear friend’s elopement along one of the Samuel H. Boardman Scenic Corridor viewpoints. After driving 6 hours down the coast, the Octopus Suite was the perfect place to rest our heads. CLEAN and COZY, it served all of our needs. Karen was an amazing host, leaving personalized touches and keeping us informed with the local wildlife happenings. She made sure we had everything we needed during our stay. Beautiful views outback to sit and enjoy nature. With easy driving access to many scenic viewpoints, coffee shops and stores, I would highly recommend staying here. Will definitely book here again next time I visit the coast!

Everything about the Octopus Suite is extremely well thought-out and enjoyable... the lovely hosts provided everything we needed and wanted, including things we wouldn't have thought of ourselves. The town is small, but there are plenty of gems to be found, and the beaches and hikes are fabulous.

Perfect getaway spot

I can’t say enough about how wonderful our stay was. Lots of special touches and plenty of helpful explanations on how to use the TV (they also offer free streaming services). The bed was comfortable, the HEATED bidet seat was amazing, and the deep tub was great for soaking. Having access to beautiful and wild Chetco Cove was a highlight. We will be back again. My husband’s comment is that this place seems to have been built with us in mind.

Cozy, cute, and complete. The Octo Suite came equipped with everything we needed for a weekend retreat. Our visit began with a sweet and articulate message which compared to a David Atwood poem, if he were to write them. Entering our Suite we were greeted with a basket of delictable treats and a bottle of chilled proseco. To enhance a tone of relaxtion, serene music was lightly filling the space. Details like a note of congratulations on the bubbly was also dear to us.

This is hands down my favorite BNB to stay at in Brookings. They have thought of everything! I always think the perfect home away from home doesn't exist. I was wrong. The bed, comfy linens, and a slept great! Detachable shower head. Thank you! More places should take notes about this place.

Karen was a very welcoming host. She met all are needs and gave us wonderful background stories and advice about the surrounding Brookings area. In the short time we were here visiting the area, she continued to make us feel like family. The Octopus suite met all our needs and then some. Beautiful suite in a beautiful location!

This guest suite was absolutely lovely and the location is stunning. It is hidden away and has a back deck overlooking the pacific and a small cove, breathtaking at sunset!!! The suite itself had plenty of amenities and was very well kept, it even had in suite laundry which was a very nice plus! It really did have everything we needed and felt like home :) Checkout process review: As many hosts have begun doing more of in the last few years, this one is no exception. You are given a checklist of items to do before leaving the property (i.e. run the dishwasher, gather up the towels, etc.) which is always a mark against for me. Please do not get me wrong! My wife and I ALWAYS treat every place with great respect and always leave the rental in perfect condition, but it leaves a slight bad taste whenever I have paid a premium for a rental along with fees (typically a cleaning fee as well!) only to be met with a laundry list of items to do for the host before checking out. Again, do not misunderstand, if those are the hosts rules then I will abide by them, just putting my "checkout process review" in all of my reviews going forward so that others can get a heads up if this type of thing matters to them. Overall our stay was very nice and I would still highly recommend this place to anyone looking to stay in the area!

Clearly the owners take great care and pride in their property, maintaining a cozy, comfortable and cleverly apportioned space that's just steps from a commanding view of the Pacific and an active yet inviting cove below. Fully stocked with kitchenware, coffee and everything you need for a nice break, the property is quiet and is a great base from which to explore the fantastic beaches and, of course, the Redwood forests. The food options in and around Brookings are ... somewhat sparse ... but we enjoyed our meals as mere breaks between the area's breathtaking scenery. Just a great and affordable property!

Why they chose this property

Our retirement goal was to find an oceanfront lot and build our dream home. We looked for several years and finally found our perfect piece of paradise here on Chetco Cove. We love it here! It's a gorgeous location, peaceful and filled with wildlife viewing. We look forward to hosting you🐙

What makes this property unique

We searched the CA and OR coasts for several years before we discovered this special piece of oceanfront heaven. The views are amazing and the wildlife viewing is wonderful! We overlook a secluded cove and are sheltered from major storms. Migrating whales can often be seen, mated pair of osprey hunt directly in front of our property, river otter families fish in our cove and occasionally bald eagles will visit. Seal lions and harbor seals sun daily on the rocks below. Our guests love sharing our oceanfront view decks. You will be the only guest on the property; when we have guests, we do not use the oceanfront deck with firepit, BBQ and dining table. You will have exclusive use of these areas.

There is no oceanfront dining in Brookings, but our guests often bring their picnic or takeout meals to their own oceanfront fire pit dining table. We encourage our guests to enjoy making their own fire in the oceanfront fire pit; we supply a starter kit of firewood, kindling and starter. If you need help getting your fire started, just ask (Rob was an Eagle Scout) lol. Additional firewood can be purchased at nearby Fred Meyer.

We have a staircase down to a private wildlife viewing platform overlooking the cove. It’s a guest favorite!
