About this property

The Artful Dome Mtn Retreat in the Smokies with fire pit & stream

Next door to The Biodome Art Studio and Sanctuary you will stay in a modern RV - Glamper with 2 queen beds (one soft, one firm), a Smart TV, WIFI, and full kitchen. Outside you will find a BBQ Grill, patio with lounge chairs for sunbathing, star gazing, outside grilling and dining. Inside the Biodome practice yoga or meditation; enjoy playing your instruments or just hanging out while soaking in the energy of this magnificent structure. Outside we have a rushing stream and firepit. We call the adjacent building “Almost Heaven”. You will see why staying here is almost heaven! We love pets but only allow small, non-shedding dogs with a small fee which goes to the housekeeper for extra cleaning.

Nice Adventure! Nice Stay!
Host Nina is so very hospitable and easy communicate with, appreciate notes throughout the glamper on locating stuff. Also appreciated all of God’s beautiful creation everywhere and her generous nature to share and encouragement to explore her land. Only thing we would suggest is get there during the day as finding it is tricky at night. It was a fun adventure 😊🎉

Biodome
The Biodome in Waynesville, NC was cozy, unique and a clean space to stay. With the beautiful surrounding mountains and short drive to Maggie Valley we recommend the Biodome and hope to stay again soon.

I guess this is the space for bragging rights! I have had a variety accomplishments in the Day Spa business (www.bellanina.com) and winner of the Day Spa of the Year Award in 2006 given by the Day Spa Association for the US , skin care product developer and trainer (www.bellaninainstitute.com), and award winning interior designer in Manhattan and Atlanta. I own 4 other short term rentals in Ann Arbor, MI along with a new short term rental which will open soon located in Canton, NC which will be called the Artful Zen Mountain Retreat. I am a fiercely independent senior who needs to slow down but I just keeps those feet moving! My dog of 13 years recently passed away so I am a bit "lost" right now. I live in J Creek, just 2 miles from this location so I will be available most of the time if you need me, unless I am tending to the properties in Michigan.

Why they chose this property

I came to this property in 1987 when it was an intentional community and the community disbanded in the early 90's. I rented my house out and moved to Ann Arbor, MI in 1994. When I sold Bellanina in 2011, I decided to come "home" and quickly purchased the Biodome that was defunct at the time. The community moved on and the houses were sold individually. Picking up the pieces from two decade earlier, I set out to develop the Biodome property and now this! The Biodome was central to the community and was built in 1987 with the help of the Windstar Foundation (singer songwriter John Denver's foundation in Snowmass, Colorado). John Denver christened our Biodome and came here often. I have thirty five years of history with this property!

What makes this property unique

This property used to be Cherokee land and it still echoes their spirit. Although I own two pieces of property here, I feel more like a steward of the entire property! So many people have been drawn to this land and seers and sages say that it is built on a quartz mountain. Many people can feel the energy emanating from the crystal structure that we have placed in the center of the biodome as it is tapped into the earth three feet and rises up three feet. The large crystal amplifies the energy vortex and the crystal ball disburses the energy.

In the winter time, we put all the potted plants inside a small structure wrapped in plastic inside the dome so we can grow year round here.

People love building a fire at the fire pit down by the stream or star gazing from the lounge chairs on the patio or meditating or doing yoga inside the dome. Just hanging out and grilling is fun too!

Take a walk up the hill along the paved road and you will come to a grape vineyard. It belongs to me so feel free to walk that land and see the mountain views facing north east.

No matter what you do, the glamper and the dome make for a great experience in the Smokies. We are located one mile, as the crow flies, from the Smokey Mountain National Park and in the winter, you can see the Cataloochee Ski Slopes above us.
