Great property for a long weekend away with family. The backyard is bigger than the pictures make it out to be. The house provides seemingly endless activities both in and off the water.

We are soo glad you enjoyed this home! Thank you for staying with us and we do hope you come back soon!
We absolutely love our stay. How quickly a week can go by. We loved that we were able to take our dogs with us to enjoy the week. Nice big yard for outdoor games and huge fire pit. We love hearing and seeing the loons and eagles. We brought out kayaks with and enjoyed fishing from the kayaks and dock. Weedy around the dock but we just used floaties our front of the dock to relax in the water. The kids really enjoyed playing pool in the game room as well.

Thank you soo much for staying with us! We are glad everything went well and It is good to hear the games were a hit! We hope you come back some time!
If you’re looking for a rustic up north lake cabin experience, this is it! You can tell this is someone’s treasured family cabin and it’s been well loved for generations. It’s quirky, it’s not glamorous, the internet is not fast and nor should it be—GO OUTSIDE or play any one of the numerous board games or DVDs they have! The back yard and lakefront view are beautiful and the back porch is so peaceful at night. It’s also child and dog friendly. It was even better than the photos. Communication with the property manager was prompt and easy. The cabin was well stocked with kitchen supplies/appliances and we were very comfortable.

I am soo glad your group had a great time! Thank you for staying with us and for the thoughtful review! We hope you come back some time.
This is a huge lot, well maintained, with so much lake shore: beautiful! Our 2-year-old granddaughter caught fish off the dock and we could paddle on our SUPs to catch some tranquil sunsets. We enjoyed the provided hammocks, Corn Hole game, yard toys and floating inner tubes for leisurely days. And the fire pit was grand for making lovely HoBo foil dinners and SomeMores! It is close to Garrison and Lake Mille Lacs where we launched our sailboat and the golf courses, as well as some nice restaurants, breweries and shopping in Crosby. And Mike, the manager, was extremely accessible and easy to reach when we had questions. We had a wonderful time!
Overall it was very nice. Kids liked the loft area with video games/games at night. They also enjoyed playing pool. I loved the screened in porch. The couple draw backs were that the handles on the outside screen door/porch keep wanting to fall off. The other thing was the gas grill was awful dirty. The fish cleaning station was also pretty bad. No running water in there and very dirty.

We greatly appreciate you staying with us. I am VERY sorry housekeeping missed cleaning the grill. All I can do if something does not go perfectly is apologize, offer to make it right, and give a refund- which I did for you. I have added a specific note to our marketing concerning the fish cleaning shed. That has never been marketed, is not part of the rental, and is not updated or cleaned. We apologize for any confusion on that. Possibly in the future the owners will fix that up and make it available to our guests.

As someone who has managed about 50 properties and several hundred bookings for several years I seldom reply to a review. We work very hard to make sure our guests have a good experience, and I am very sorry your expectations were not met at this property. However, I feel obligated to reply to your review out of fairness to the owners and future guests. I want to clarify some of the comments. Let me start by making sure everyone knows that every guest who stays with us has my personal cell phone. We were in contact more than once during your stay. If you had let me know there were any issues of any kind, we would have been over there within minutes to make things were right for you. I was so baffled by your review I personally went over to the property to inspect it and verify any issues. We have this property listed as an up north rustic cabin. The last two guests before you, through VRBO, left a five-star reviews and the guests who checked out the day you check in booked through another major OTA, but they left a five-star review as well. So, I think out of fairness, it is safe to say different guests have different expectations. Understanding you folks are not from the Midwest, it’s important to understand we have a mayfly hatch this time of year and there can be a lot of bugs. These owners do spray for mosquitoes and spiders. The dishwasher is older, but it does work. I will forward a request to the owners to replace it. The cobwebs you are referring to are on the multiple antique mounts and furs throughout the cabin. They are up high, but we will thoroughly wipe and dust them. As with many of our cabins in this area, this property does have some iron in the water. That is very common and over time does leave some rust stains in sinks etc. This is a pet friendly rental. I greatly apologize for any cleaning issues. As anyone with a dog knows, you can clean very well and sometimes there may be some hair found. I am certainly following up with housekeeping on that issue. As far as “dirt” under the sink. I am highly confused by that comment. I was there the day after you checked out and there are cleaning supplies and a somewhat rusty dish drying rack that will be removed, but certainly no dirt. This is a somewhat remote cabin and when there are storms or bad weather it can affect the internet. Sorry for the long response, but I felt that not addressing your issues would not have been fair to these owners.
The space was comfortable, but it contains way too much furniture, making some rooms hard to navigate. There were only 3 of us, so it was fine for us. The property listing did not make clear that there was no bathroom upstairs, where there are beds for many sleepers.
The location is fairly remote, we had to drive 27-30 minutes to go hiking and canoeing and even eating out. For fisher-folks (not us), however, that could be satisfied closer by.
The kitchen was great - had every appliance and more than most would need/want. Plenty of games and puzzles, as advertised. Cleaning and laundry products and shampoo/conditioner provided - which is very thoughtful.

We do appreciate you staying with us. Yes many of our guests are coming up to enjoy the lake and fish. Thanks
The location of this property on a very beautiful and quiet lake is outstanding. It has everything that you need for a comfortable stay. This is a camp. There are lots of bugs in the area as you would expect because you’re surrounded by the woods in the water. Bring bug spray for the evenings.
The beds are all comfortable and clean. Lots of outdoor toys and a ton of old school video games if you’re into that stuff. The kitchen had everything we needed.
We used the on-site boat ramp and pulled our fishing boat up to the dock. We fished the lake that the cabin is on (Smith lake) and wore out largemouth bass all week. We also trailered the boat five minutes and put in at Mille Lacs lake. Those days we had a great time catching walleye, northern pike, rocks bass and small mouth.
Our host, Mike, had great communication and was very responsive. He checked in before we arrived and then several times during our stay. He seems very attentive.
I would highly recommend this property if you want to relaxing vacation in the woods and lakes! We will be back!

Thank you for staying with us and for the thoughtful, detailed review! Yes, this is a bit of a remote cabin. Smith lake is fun fishing, but with Mille Lacs just a few minutes away it's always a great option to jump over there. Thanks again for staying with us and we hope you come back soon!
Everything was perfect. It’s much nicer then the photos. Beautiful setting and we didn’t mind that we only caught a few fish.
