Perfect location!
Enjoyed some holiday activities in Cape May which is only a short drive from this apartment. It was perfect for the two of us and our dog was welcome after confirming with owner.

Cozy and comfortable, excellent location, super hosts.
This is a perfect place to stay in the Cape May area. It's not in the heart of the tourist madness area, but nearer by the lighthouse. It's easy to get to everything in the area. It's also a quiet neighborhood. The owners were welcoming and it's obvious they take pride in their rental property. I enjoyed spending time there. It had everything I needed.

My husband and I were living in Texas, I'd retired from teaching and was having fun with a design business I'd started. My family has great memories of growing up summers in the old family cottage on a lake in MA, and we all still take turns using the cottage. Yet, we'd always wanted a place of our own and were looking for a fixer-upper older home near the ocean. This is the house which came with an apartment above the detached offset garage. At first sight, most would have considered both a tear down, but inside, the house was full of light and the apartment was an extra. While my husband stayed home working, I spent from Nov.to mid June, 2005, chipping, scraping, sanding, painting, sewing, hauling, and planting. Add the all important work of admired carpenters, plumbers and electricians and we now have our most loved 'little' house.
In 2009 the apartment was gutted to get rid of rot and fix structural problems. Another winter spent in the house(thank goodness not living in spackling dust) and the apartment came to life when being reborn in what was already it's bones. Before it was dreary and in sad shape, now it's one of the most uplifting, welcoming places I think can be and I am surprised myself. As the carpenters tore it apart, I could stand inside after they left each day and feel what it would be like if I did this or that. It begged for character! The location helps( open the windows and hear the sea), plus looking out through fig trees adds green-ness and privacy, but it now feels so welcoming, quite hard to describe. It came from humble beginnings and had a life well lived, but now it is what it knew it could be. Whatever it is that makes for a good feel, this little apartment loves to be lived in and is quite welcoming.

Why they chose this property

Cape May is beautiful, historic, and offers so much to do and be involved in, the town is charming. Cape May Point, down the road a little bit, has kept that very rare (any more) summer place feel we wanted. A person can bike any place they want to go if they feel like it. The beaches are wonderful, you can lounge and read and watch the dolphins play. Fishermen fish from certain beaches and jetties, there are lifeguards and good swimming beaches. The whole area of Cape May Point is green with trees and grass. With Cape May Bird Observatory's Hawkwatch close by, bring your binoculars, grab a bike, borrow a birding book, and head on down to the platform by the lighthouse.

What makes this property unique

Instead of having sidewalks where visitors stroll, we're able to have woods across the street belonging to an old estate. Seagrove is an old beautiful street, delightful to bike, walk, and live on. Most days you hear the surf and with all the trees, we've got birds aplenty singing their songs. It's a happy inviting sort of place. We're close to the lighthouse and Hawk Watch, Nature Conservancy and walking trails, a winery, plus the Plum Beach Farm, and have all the Point beaches to choose from. Sometimes you just get on a bike and ride through the Point having a marvelous time. The flag ceremony at Sunset Beach is a bike ride away; once you go and take in the ceremony honoring a veteran, you'll think about going more often. Soon after the ceremony it's a good place to watch the sunset. If you want to stay home, well, you just pull out a chair and relax on the balcony or in the private courtyard.
