This cabin is heaven-sent for outdoor enthusiasts who are thirsty to discover adventure. In the quiet and serenity of the national forest, you'll feel one with nature while surrounded by the beauty of the Rocky Mountains. Get a better feel for the area by visiting Taylor Park a few miles up the canyon for a snowmobile tour or rent one and venture forth on your own. Use your newfound transportation to access The Nugget, a local grocery store and diner for all your needs regarding food. Get a gift for a special dog you know from Raven Riders, a dog-sledding outfitter.

Colorado is the perfect place for adventure: from world-class skiing in the winter to rock climbing and hiking in the summer. Enjoy the nearby Taylor River and spend an afternoon fishing using one of the six provided fishing poles. Luckily, snowshoeing and backcountry skiing are available to you right from the cabin, so you don't have to go far for something to do during the winter months either.

Inside your holiday home, you'll find an open floor plan and vaulted ceilings, a warm feeling of welcome throughout the space. Comfortable furniture is spread throughout the cabin, especially in the living area, perfect for hosting a movie night on the large TV. Plenty of books and board games are available to entertain! The group's chef will love preparing grand meals and on-the-go snacks in the full kitchen, complete with a breakfast bar. There's a bedroom on the first floor and one in the loft that also acts as a hangout and office space. Relax in the soaking tub or walk-in shower to truly escape from it all. Master bed mattress has spring protruding up in to the top side of mattress that will definitely be uncomfortable when your are sleeping. House kinda of outdated, but all in all not a bad place to stay to access Taylor Park. Parking is very limited. We barely had room for one truck and a 12’ trailer.

Great rental for our low key girls weekend! Only 30 min drive to Crested Butte and Taylor Reservoir. We were notified that the rental doesn’t have internet which was nice to disconnect. The kitchen was stocked and bathrooms were stocked with plenty of towels. The only critiques are: The pull out couch had a fitted sheet which was stained and didn’t look cleaned. We were able to find extra sheets to put on it. And the bathroom came with travel size shampoo/conditioner and hand soap. Overall the rental was clean with lots of games and a lovely deck for morning coffee and evening cocktails and chatting!

The cabin is beautiful & cozy! Close to Taylor Park/Reservoir, Almont, Gunnison & Crested Butte. Absolutely gorgeous area with lots to do…shopping, ATVing, fishing, hiking, eating… The cabin was very well-stocked, especially the kitchen!

Perfect Mountain Cabin

We loved staying here! The cabin has nice layout with a loft and cool furnishings/decor. We really enjoyed the movie selection and the board games provided. Located about 30 minutes from Crested Butte, it is a nice scenic drive to get to town. Perfect for a relaxing weekend.

Dirty, outdated, and not serene

Besides being outdated (no internet, ancient appliances, worn and dirty carpet), it’s not serene. Located 50 feet from the highway in a canyon is far from serene. The home was not cleaned from the previous guests, and the property manager didn’t expedite getting the home cleaned within the first 24 hours of our 2-night stay. Unsanitary and unhealthy!! See photos of the dirty beds, dirty bathrooms, and overflowing laundry room; and the property manager did nothing to ensure a sanitary environment for us. We found mattress covers to cover the dirty carpet and sleep on the floor 1 night and we left before the next night when the home was still not cleaned. Still arguing to receive a refund, but I won’t ever trust a Vacasa-managed property again and I’d suggest VRBO exclude their properties.

Beautiful property… but be aware there are no trash bags, dish soap, laundry soap. There is also no WiFi and one bar of service. The stairs are broken on the way up to the porch. One of my friends fell down them and got hurt. Really needs to get fixed. Beds are super lumpy.

Just wow!

The Atkins cabin is definitely something everyone should experience. My family chose to come to the Gunnison National Forest to see the Golden Aspens along Kebler Pass. This cabin is perfectly located in the middle of several day trip locations. The house is furnished and supplied with everything you will need for your stay. There are many games to play and books to read in the great room. It is a cozy, welcoming and relaxing place to get away from it all. The two story picture windows perfectly frame the aspens and mountain view. The skylights in the master bedroom above the bed allow for clear views of the stars at night. We even saw a shooting star during our stay. Our nephew caught a two pound trout in the Taylor river across from the cabin. The Atkins family has created a great home away from home for your trip to the area.

Good if this is what you're looking for.

There is no service when you get close to the cabin, so make sure you put in the address while you're still in town. But the address given and put into Google maps will not take you to the house, so make sure you look for the instructions in your email. But do it before you get out there, because you won't have service. There were dirty towels in the showers when we arrived, so they need to update their cleaning service. THERE IS NO INTERNET! If that's fine with you, go for it, but in this day and age, it should be available in my opinion. This is definitely someone's second home that they opened up to be rented. I was disappointed that there was no crockpot or any appliance to put a meal together that could cook while we were out for the day. It is a very nice home, but is dated and no updates were made before opening it up to be rented.

Dirty cabin infested with mice

Mouse poop on beds ,window ledges and in kitchen cabinets and on top ofcwasher and dryer. The blinds on the skylight were broken sovto much sun came in and the bedroom was hot ,when asked the management for a fan ,they said they couldn't provide one. They also didnt fix the blinds or clean the mouse poop or put traps out. Nothing at all. Dead bugs everywhere and cobwebs and dust. The grill was without propane and very ,very dirty. When we told them ,somebody dropped off a full propane tank and cleaning supplies for us to clean it ourselves. We paid a lot of money ,cleaning fee and nothing was clean . The carpets were vacuumed and the kitchen counter was clean but dead bugs were all around the wall on the floors, cobwebs on ceilings and lights ,crumbs and dirt and mouse poop in cabinets and drawers. We took pictures . The cleaning crew and the manager are not doing their job. We paid a lot of money for our 5 nights stay and would have liked to have a clean cabin . This was the dirties cabin we ever stayed in . It was very disappointing. It was also very disappointing to spend 2 hours of our vacation trying to talk to somebody to take care of the problem and to fix the problem and that never happened.

Cute and cozy cabin

Our family loved staying at this cute cabin in the woods. It made us feel like we were at a home away from home. Some things to note: there is a king bed in the loft (with skylights overhead to watch the stars at night), a full size bed, and a queen size sofa-bed. You could sleep 2 people on each of those, though 2 adults on the full bed might be a little tight (but fine for 2 kids). And the queen sofa bed was very comfortable. Our family loved relaxing here during our stay, cooking meals in the kitchen, and feeling like we were at home. It really felt cozy and welcoming. You could tell the owners love it and enjoy it too. There's a bathtub with jets which we enjoyed using, and we even saw a deer in the backyard one morning. There's a tiny treehouse for younger kids in the backyard with a small bed in it and a ladder in the back to access it. With the windows open, you can hear the sounds of the aspens blowing in the breeze. There were five of us (2 adults and 3 teenagers), and we all had a great time here. When we read some of the other negative postings (lots of complaints about the low shower head in the second floor bathroom, for instance), it's true that the shower head is low, but it's still usable. There were also a lot of complaints in other posts about it not being clean, but when we stayed there (July, 2023), it was very clean when we arrived, so maybe the cleaners have improved since the previous negative posts. One recommendation I have is to bring a couple box fans to put in the windows so you can bring in cool outside air. We stayed here in mid-July, and the inside was warmer than the outside, but with fans to bring in cool, fresh outside air, the place cooled down nicely. There are also a pair of wooden rocking chairs on the deck which was nice. In addition, we also brought several simple folding chairs so all of us could sit outside on the deck. We could have just brought some of the indoor chairs outside, if we'd wanted to. Our cellphones only got 1 bar (pretty much meaning no internet connection at all), and there is no wifi, so we all learned to live without our cellphones while we were there, which took some getting used to, but instead, we played board games and card games (they have several to choose from) and read our books (they also have some books, in case you forgot to bring yours). And although they don't have cable TV, they do have several DVDs and VHS movies you can watch while you're there. The outdoor grill was a nice touch, but things did take longer to cook on them than we were used to. It didn't get very hot, but we still used it for 2 of our meals. And the kitchen is complete with just about everything you need. We cooked all our meals there during our stay and saved a lot of money by not eating out. There are several large grocery stores in Gunnison and at least one grocery store in Crested Butte. Overall, we loved our stay there, and would love to stay there again.

Only disappointment was the description of the Taylor River being onsite. The river was on the other side of the steady highway, gated community, and not accessible unless driving to an access point down the road. Dirty, not clean when arrived. Property amenities and location were lied about online. Couldn’t get anyone to speak to us, only text. Lost one whole night after a 12hr drive so it could be cleaned which it really wasn’t. I hope all of this info gets back to the owners so they can get a good company to take care and represent their home properly. So disappointing

Way overpriced for the quality of the rental. Would not recommend.

First I’ll say the location is beautiful. The setting near the river is very nice. When we arrived we pulled into the driveway which is shared with another house. There was a vehicle parking in the way and was blocking our ability to get over to the cabin. We tried knocking on the door but no one responded. Not a great way to start off. Getting to the cabin requires a sharp right turn in front of the other house that required me in a full size truck, to have to back up and do a multi point turn in. You definitely aren’t bringing a trailer here and you have to back out onto a busy road with your vehicle as there is no space to turn around. Walking up to the cabin the first thing I noticed was the stairs you have to use to get in have one broken step that required us to jump over it as we were worried we would fall through. Getting in the house was a bit of a step back in time. All of the appliances are ancient. It reminds me of stuff I used to see in my grandparents house when I was a child. The walk-in shower described on the website was very small and the showerheads only come up to the top of my back. I’m 5’11”, not a giant. The cabin was cozy and overall a nice space. I just feel like it was advertised incorrectly. My biggest issue was that the listing had four beds. After looking around to try to understand this we figured out that there is a pull out sofa bed, a bed upstairs in the loft, and one downstairs in a bedroom. The bed they claim is number four is nothing more than a foam pad to lay on the floor. This is deceptive in my opinion. If this property was cheaper than I feel it would be acceptable but at the price they charged I consider it a bit of a rip off. There are not four beds and the pictures make it look like there is a huge parking area. I would not recommend this property at its normal going rate.

Well Loved Home with Extra Family Touches!

Stocked with all of the amenities we could have ever needed in a beautiful location. The home is very welcoming and clean. We have older boys (19 & 20) and it was perfect for us, but I was impressed with all of the extra touches for those with a bit younger children (I’d say 5-11 is perfect) from a tire swing made into a horse, a “ranger station” with a loft and an air mattress, and black bear trail to gorgeous Atkins Point. Our boys could (and still did 😉) find it a haven of adventure. The traffic on the road outside the home is quite busy, but it was a lovely weather weekend so it should be expected. The loft, complete with sky lights above the bed to view the stars through at night was beautiful and such a nice place to spend time in when not taking advantage of the furniture outside on the deck. Would definitely stay here again!
