About this property
Dream House in the Gunks
Welcome to Dream House — a soulful forest hideaway nestled on the slopes of the Shawangunk Ridge, just minutes from Minnewaska State Park and Stony Kill Falls. Whether you’re here to hike, rest, create, or reconnect with loved ones, this thoughtfully curated home invites you to slow down and feel grounded.
The house features two cozy bedrooms with premium mattresses and soft linens, offering restorative sleep after a day outdoors. A handmade L-shaped couch, crafted by local artists, provides both comfort and beauty in the living room, which centers around a wood-burning stove. The layout also includes a futon in the hallway for extra flexibility. The bathroom is designed with modern stone-look tile, natural wood paneling, and is stocked with Puracy natural body products.
The kitchen overlooks the forest and is fully equipped with cookware, salt, pepper, olive oil, balsamic vinegar, and a selection of high-quality coffee and tea. You’ll also find a humidifier with essential oils, incense, and other small comforts that reflect our hospitality values.
Outside, two porches offer peaceful gathering spaces. The front covered porch is ideal for morning coffee, while the back porch faces the forest and creates a quiet, restorative nook for reading, conversation, or simply enjoying the fresh air.
You’ll also find original artwork by Ilias Muratov, a close friend of the host, and a meaningful library designed to spark reflection and inspiration. Every item has been selected with intention — from furnishings to fragrances — creating a space that supports mindful rest and a deeper connection to nature.
Our hosting philosophy is rooted in care and authenticity. We offer more than just a place to sleep — we aim to create meaningful stays for guests who value beauty, peace, and integrity. Whether you’re visiting for a retreat, a creative escape, or simply to unplug and recharge, Dream House is ready to welcome you.
The house includes fast Wi-Fi (200+ Mbps), natural well water with a filtered tap, and a reliable heating system with baseboards and a wall-mounted HVAC unit in the living area.
While the setting feels secluded, you’ll be close to excellent hiking, biking, climbing, and skiing. Local highlights include Minnewaska’s lakes and trails, the waterfall at Stony Kill, local wineries, restaurants, organic farms, and art centers. A wooden sign on the home reads “Dream House” — it’s a quiet welcome to a space built for comfort, reflection, and deeper living.
Please note that some roads in the area are unpaved and the house sits on a hill. During the winter months, we strongly recommend using a vehicle with all-wheel or four-wheel drive.
We look forward to hosting you in the Gunks.

About the host
Hosted by Serg
I’ve spent years building spaces that invite people to slow down, reconnect, and remember what matters. Hosting is just one expression of that. These homes are more than rentals — they’re vessels for rest, inspiration, and honest living.
What began as a personal project has grown into Dream House in the Gunks, where a small, thoughtful team now helps maintain the kind of environment we’d want for ourselves: clean, cared for, and meaningful. We take pride in the details — from natural materials and curated books to quiet corners and mountain views.
Outside of hosting, I explore practices like cold exposure, yoga, and meditation — experiences that strip life down to what’s real. I also teach skydiving, which for many people becomes a profound mind-body reset. All of it comes from the same place: a love of depth, clarity, and conscious living.
Wherever you are in your journey, I hope our homes help you feel grounded, welcomed, and alive.

Why they chose this property
This home is quiet, simple, and surprisingly grounding. Guests often say it feels like a place where time slows down — where it’s easier to rest, talk, think, and reconnect with nature or with the people you’re with.
We designed this space with care and restraint. Not to impress, but to soothe. The couch in the living room is handmade by local artists. The artwork was painted by a friend. The books on the shelves weren’t chosen at random — they’re part of a “meaningful library” we curate across all our properties. There’s incense, natural oils, and warm wood tones throughout. We believe details matter.
This house is part of a collection of forest homes we host under the name Dream House in the Gunks. Our team has grown, but our approach hasn’t changed: we value simplicity, authenticity, and thoughtful hospitality. We believe good sleep matters, so we invest in premium bedding. We believe people feel better when they feel cared for — not in flashy ways, but in small, grounding ones.
This isn’t a luxury house. It’s a house with soul. If you're looking for something meaningful, this may be your spot.
