About this property

Lakeside Cabin in the Trees with Views and Hot Tub

Heron’s Nest Cabin: A Secluded Island Retreat with Bay Glimpses and Forest Calm
Perched on a wooded hillside above Hale Passage and Bellingham Bay, Heron’s Nest Cabin is a peaceful haven where towering evergreens and filtered water views set the tone for a quiet, restorative escape. Whether you’re curled up by the wood stove, soaking in the cedar hot tub, or enjoying a slow morning with coffee on the deck, this is the kind of place where the pace shifts—and so do you.

Five Reasons to Stay at Heron’s Nest Cabin
*Forest-Facing Privacy: Tucked among tall fir and cedar trees with peekaboo views of the water and mainland coast, the setting is tranquil, green, and naturally calming.
*Cedar Hot Tub + Outdoor Shower: Soak in the warmth after a hike or rinse off in the open-air cedar shower house—a year-round favorite for the nature-connected experience.
*Comfort Meets Simplicity: Vaulted ceilings, natural wood accents, cozy window seats, and thoughtful touches throughout create a space that’s both stylish and deeply comfortable.
Unplug or Stay Connected: Read, cook, reflect—or connect via the cabin’s reliable Wi-Fi.
Accessible Island Living: Just a short ferry ride from Bellingham, but it feels a world away from everyday life.

Inside the Cabin
The open living and dining area offers plenty of space to settle in, whether you`re preparing a meal, reading in the window seat, or sitting fireside with a blanket and something warm to drink. The king bedroom features an ensuite with a walk-in shower and heated floors.

The kitchen includes a gas cooktop, full-size oven, and all the tools you’ll need for casual meals at home. A large dining table sits beside the windows, offering treetop views during your morning coffee or candlelit dinners when the skies turn gray.

Outside, the covered deck, cedar hot tub, and fire pit are surrounded by forest. Even in cooler months, these outdoor spaces offer cozy moments wrapped in the rhythm of the woods.

What to Do (or Not Do) on Lummi Island
>Walk the nearby shoreline or hike scenic forest trails at Aiston or Baker Preserve.
>Walk the quiet roads near the cabin or explore the woods via nearby Inati Trail.
>Visit artist studios, galleries, or the local store for handmade goods and local flavor.
>Spend a quiet afternoon in the hot tub, nap in the window seat, or simply watch light shift through the trees.
>Paddle the shoreline if you bring your own kayak or SUP—just check tides and weather first.
>Cook, read, sketch, write… or do absolutely nothing at all.

Who It’s Perfect For
~Couples or solo travelers craving stillness, comfort, and beautiful surroundings
~Creatives looking for a quiet space to think, make, or reset
~Nature lovers who want direct access to trails, water, and wildlife without sacrificing comfort
~Anyone needing a soft landing and a break from the noise

Your Island Reset Starts Here
Heron’s Nest Cabin offers a different kind of getaway—one where the pace is slow, the air is fresh, and the views never get old. Step into a rhythm shaped by tides, trees, and a good night’s sleep. Book your stay and discover what peace feels like.

There is an outside surveillance camera which will not be monitored during your stay. It is for security when the home is vacant.

The cabin is on a hill so care must be taken when nearing slopes and traversing around trees and other natural areas. Watch the weather forecast as it may be difficult to access if there is ice or snow.

The entire home is available exclusively to our guests during their stay. There is a treehouse on the property which may be added on to your booking to provide sleeping for an additional two guests. Contact Jackie for more information.
If the treehouse is not part of your booking there will be no one staying there - the entrie property and amenities are exclusively yours.

A Rental Agreement regarding the home is required to be signed by the guest on the booking before the cancellation period ends. The agreement will be sent to you through the booking platform upon booking.

As a professionally managed property you will receive top notch service and communication. PNW Concierge has a team ready to assist you before and during your stay.

We offer superior pre-stay information and services to ensure your vacation will be the best it can be! We prepare the Heron`s Nest Cabin with you in mind, taking care of the cleaning and preparation so you don`t have to worry about a thing. During your stay we are available to assist you with your questions about the house, the island and the surrounding area. We also limit our check out instructions - run the dishwasher, lock the windows and doors, and take out the trash if it`s stinky - THAT`S IT! Feel confident (and pampered) when you book with PNW Concierge LLC!

If you prefer to have your groceries or something special in the house upon your arrival guests may order concierge service as a separate amenity from this booking by going to PNW Concierge on the web.

Other services and amenities are available as well, including during stay housekeeping, and a personal chef service (when available)!

Once you book, we will send you all the information you need to plan and have a great stay.

If you have any questions about the house or the area prior to booking please contact us, we will happily answer any questions you have.

A trip on the Whatcom Chief Ferry is required to get to the Heron`s Nest Cabin. The ferry is operated by Whatcom County, and runs at least every hour between 5.40am and midnight on weekdays, a little less on weekends. Round trip fare is $24 for the vehicle and driver and $10 per passenger or for walk-ons. Fare is collected during the run to the island by the purser who will come to your vehicle to collect - credit or debit card only, no cash is accepted.

Walk, bike or drive to the house from the ferry dock and `downtown` Lummi Island. We are approximately 3.5 miles from this area of the island. `Downtown Lummi Island` consists of The Islander - general store, coffee and pastries, wine, beer and alcohol. Also attached is Sisters Gallery which highlights Island Crafters and Artisans.

The Island Library has books and movies, of course but also an island history section. The Island Post Office is a full service post office with limited hours, and the Beach Store Cafe has great pizza and specials every weekend.
The home is not child-proofed - there are no covers on the outlets, or locks on cabinets containing cleaning products, etc. You are responsible for taking precautions to keep your children safe.
The property is near a (quiet) road and is not fenced, please keep your children within sight distance.

There are security cameras in the back yard. There are NO cameras inside the treehouse or cabin. Cameras are not monitored during guest stay. They are for security between stays only.

The property is directly across the street from a body of water, please be aware of water safety.

The property has an in-ground hot tub, play structure, fire pit and a treehouse. (The treehouse is not included unless an additional fee has been added to your reservation.) Care must be taken in and around these items and on all parts of the property. Parental supervision is required at all times when on the property.

In respect of our neighbors we ask for quiet time between 10pm and 8am. Please note that noise travels easily and far in this area.

Our good neighbor policy is in the documents we send prior to your arrival. Read and adhere to them.

Only guests listed on the booking are permitted at the home unless prior approval by PNW Concierge (this includes both daytime and nighttime visitors.)

Booking rates, fees and taxes are listed in USD.

After carefully considering the risk involved, the guests hereby release, hold-harmless and waives all claims associated with the perils of staying at this home, which they may have against the property owners, their employees, officers, directors, and agents.
