About this property
Woodland Escape | Charming Cabin Steps to the Lake
Perfect for the whole family, including your canine companions! Woodland Escape combines the authentic Northwoods cabin vibe with modern comforts & a touch of whimsy (llama ottoman, anyone?). Located on a wooded 2.5 acre lot that is a short 5-minute walk to one of the area's loveliest beaches, this is a perfect place to relax, recharge, and reconnect with your loved ones. And it's in the perfect location on the South Shore with access to trails, towns, and the Big Lake!
This property is professionally managed by Bark Point Ventures, a locally-owned hospitality company offering truly elevated management services for Lake Superior's South Shore. Your host is available anytime to assist with your questions, recommendations, any issues, and/or helping you organize incredible local experiences!
The south shore is truly a place to get away from it all, but not so far from modern conveniences that getting food and gas feel like a chore. The guest book contains tips on all the incredible outdoor activities, local arts, and places to get groceries, dine out, grab a drink, etc. This is truly a year-round destination, whether you enjoy outdoor activities, local cuisine, art, or simply the company of friends & family in one of the most beautiful locations in the northern U.S.
The home is just a few minutes from the center of Cornucopia, which has a delightful general store/market, awesome coffee shop, bar/restaurant, farm store, and marina. Bayfield is about 25 minutes away, as is Washburn (where you'll find the largest grocery store in the area).
Woodland Escape is an authentic cabin in the woods that has been updated with new furnishings, brand-new mattresses, kitchen supplies, linens, and technology. However, we love how the original vibe of the cabin's "bones" has been maintained. Why come to the Northwoods if you're going to stay in a place as bland as any hotel room?
The open-plan living/dining/kitchen great room is at the front of the cabin. The dining table can seat 4-6 comfortably and the kitchen is fully-outfitted with everything you'll need to prepare meals for the gang. The living room has a super-comfy Joybird sectional, comfy side chair, smart TV (Roku interface), and record player (with an eclectic selection of albums). And did we mention the gas fireplace to boot?
The great room has soaring ceilings, which make it feel even more spacious (folks always remark at how much larger the cabin is compared to how it looks from the outside).
The back of the cabin has two bedrooms with queen beds (brand-new mattresses) and views of the woods. The bathroom (with a shower, no tub) is located between the great room and the bedrooms.
The sweet surprise of the cabin is the upstairs: you'll find a cozy reading nook with a comfy chair and ottoman, and then through the upstairs doorway, our favorite place: a game room with a gaming table for four, two comfy chairs, TV with DVD player, and a twin trundle bed. We love this room so much as it's the perfect spot to relax, play one of the many games on hand, or just getaway for some quiet time with a book (and perhaps a glass of wine or two). We're particularly proud of the whimsical decor you'll find throughout, including the llama ottoman!
The exterior of the cabin features a spacious deck, picnic table, fire pit, and charcoal grill. The cabin is nestled in a wooded area, which offers privacy and peace & quiet. However, you're just a short walk to a nearby beach and a short drive to the South Shore's incredible trails & beaches as well as the restaurants, bars, and shops in nearby Cornucopia.
You'll need a car to reach the cabin as there's no public transit to speak of on the south shore. The nearest airport is about an hour and 15 minutes away, in Duluth.
