About this property
Woodland Escape | Charming Cabin Steps to the Lake
Perfect for the whole family, including your canine companions! Woodland Escape combines the authentic Northwoods cabin vibe with modern comforts & a touch of whimsy (llama ottoman, anyone?). Located on a wooded 2.5 acre lot that is a short 5-minute walk to one of the area's loveliest beaches, this is a perfect place to relax, recharge, and reconnect with your loved ones. And it's in the perfect location on the South Shore with access to trails, towns, and the Big Lake!
This property is professionally managed by Bark Point Ventures, a locally-owned hospitality company offering truly elevated management services for Lake Superior's South Shore. Your host is available anytime to assist with your questions, recommendations, any issues, and/or helping you organize incredible local experiences!
The south shore is truly a place to get away from it all, but not so far from modern conveniences that getting food and gas feel like a chore. The guest book contains tips on all the incredible outdoor activities, local arts, and places to get groceries, dine out, grab a drink, etc. This is truly a year-round destination, whether you enjoy outdoor activities, local cuisine, art, or simply the company of friends & family in one of the most beautiful locations in the northern U.S.
The home is just a few minutes from the center of Cornucopia, which has a delightful general store/market, awesome coffee shop, bar/restaurant, farm store, and marina. Bayfield is about 25 minutes away, as is Washburn (where you'll find the largest grocery store in the area).
Woodland Escape is an authentic cabin in the woods that has been updated with new furnishings, brand-new mattresses, kitchen supplies, linens, and technology. However, we love how the original vibe of the cabin's "bones" has been maintained. Why come to the Northwoods if you're going to stay in a place as bland as any hotel room?
The open-plan living/dining/kitchen great room is at the front of the cabin. The dining table can seat 4-6 comfortably and the kitchen is fully-outfitted with everything you'll need to prepare meals for the gang. The living room has a super-comfy Joybird sectional, comfy side chair, smart TV (Roku interface), and record player (with an eclectic selection of albums). And did we mention the gas fireplace to boot?
The great room has soaring ceilings, which make it feel even more spacious (folks always remark at how much larger the cabin is compared to how it looks from the outside).
The back of the cabin has two bedrooms with queen beds (brand-new mattresses) and views of the woods. The bathroom (with a shower, no tub) is located between the great room and the bedrooms.
The sweet surprise of the cabin is the upstairs: you'll find a cozy reading nook with a comfy chair and ottoman, and then through the upstairs doorway, our favorite place: a game room with a gaming table for four, two comfy chairs, TV with DVD player, and a twin trundle bed. We love this room so much as it's the perfect spot to relax, play one of the many games on hand, or just getaway for some quiet time with a book (and perhaps a glass of wine or two). We're particularly proud of the whimsical decor you'll find throughout, including the llama ottoman!
The exterior of the cabin features a spacious deck, picnic table, fire pit, and charcoal grill. The cabin is nestled in a wooded area, which offers privacy and peace & quiet. However, you're just a short walk to a nearby beach and a short drive to the South Shore's incredible trails & beaches as well as the restaurants, bars, and shops in nearby Cornucopia.
You'll need a car to reach the cabin as there's no public transit to speak of on the south shore. The nearest airport is about an hour and 15 minutes away, in Duluth.
Less than five-minute walk to Lake Superior & a sandy beach that is also perfect for launching your kayak This home is dog friendly: While we make a considerable effort to clean up pet hair between guests, there may still be a few stray hairs in the home. This home is in the north woods: seasonal bugs/pests can be expected.

We came here to do some winter hiking, and the cabin was perfect for our needs. It was clean, well-stocked, and there was a lot of attention to detail. The host was super helpful and responsive.
It’s was exactly what we where looking for! Peaceful cabin in the woods. Close drive to several adventures sites. Kid and dog friendly. We had a great time!
Great little cabin in the woods near Lake Superior! The cabin had a very strong musty odor upon arrival but it got better once the windows were opened, however, it was off-putting at first impression. Nice vintage decor, cozy and comfortable for two nights.

hmm, we aren't sure what may be causing that musty smell, but with the heavy humidity we have had all summer, these rustic cabins will show their age at times. we had only had one other person mention it this year, but we will be doing our best to see if we can figure out where it is coming from so we can try to nip it in the bud. sorry to see it had such an impact on your time in our beautiful neck of the woods.
Accommodations at this Peaceful wooded cabin were super. Warm & Cozy feeling made for a welcoming stay in the Northwoods:) Thank you to all staff!!

Everything you need for a good night stay. Private getaway all of the Area highlights were listed for us in a great book. Cute small friendly towns. I’d definitely stay again.
Beautiful property surrounded by woods. Conveniently located near lots of hiking trails and water sports. Lovely cabin and the host was very helpful and informative. Would definitely stay again.
The cabin was very clean and the host provided dog towels, blankets and dishes. Also provided coffee and tea which was helpful for our short stay. They provided a lot of avtivity information on the area too. We stayed here on our last two days of the Lake Superior circle tour instead of braking up the last day's drive by staying in Marquette. No regrets!! Ferry to Madeline Island and empty beaches in Corny were the highlights.
Fun place to stay! Quiet and peaceful. The main room was a great place to gather and make meals or play games. We enjoyed walking down to the beach and seeing the changing mood of the lake. Erin was very helpful and responsive. Would stay again for sure!
Such a sweet, timeless stay! Great for a romantic getaway, time with family or a cozy weekend o it of the city with friends. The perfect one size fits all stay!
The cabin was perfect and met all of our needs! We were just minutes away from Lake Superior, and hiking trails and waterfalls were just a short drive away. The surrounding towns of Port Wing, Herbster and Cornucopia offered great places to shop and eat. We will definitely be back!
It’s so quiet and we love to see the early morning deer nearby the cabin. Thank you!
