This place is a real gem. Lots of space especially outside to relax, swing, play ball with your dog, grill. It was clean, had a lovely cool cottage aesthetic, every kitchen tool you could imagine needing and neatly labelled kitchen cabinets and drawers, and comfy beds and lots of nice indoor seating. And rural but ten minutes from a grocery store. Perfect place to stay!

Thanks, Noelle! We’re so glad you were comfortable inside and out and found everything you needed in the neat kitchen.
Thank to Mason for being such a warm and responsive host! Our group of four mid-life women had an amazing time. The house was very clean and the abundance of air conditioning and air filters made it feel fresh too. Three out of the four bedrooms were upstairs and very comfortable. The fourth bedroom was in a downstairs basement with no bathroom so could be okay for kids but we were thankful an upstairs room had twin beds. The outdoor area was spacious with a clean and also spacious hot tub. And the Yuba River was about a 15 minute car ride away. If you're looking for a clean, decently stocked and more affordable 3ish bedroom rental with a great hot tub and very helpful host, we highly recommend this home. Thank you!
Wonderful stay! Loved the big space, private outdoor hot tub was phenomenal. Beds were very comfortable (especially the master bed) heaters were cozy and the breakfast nook made an amazing hang out spot. Stayed for a birthday and everyone enjoyed themselves. Thank you!
We had a very comfortable stay. We were in class all day but enjoyed the space when we were there. Neighborhood is quiet, lots of outdoor space to break away and have some time alone. I would stay here again.

Liked: Check-in, communication, location
Disliked: Cleanliness, listing accuracy
This property is grossly misrepresented in the listing. Many hosts enrich their photos, but this goes beyond that - I am not even sure when this property was last serviced but it is not maintained. The outside grounds are unkempt with overgrown grass, faded and dirty outdoor amenities, grills that are covered in dead grass and spiderwebs with rusty cooking utensils. The hot tub listed is not maintained - the host asks guests to handle the maintenance of the chemical treatment - both unacceptable and unsafe for guests and also a potential hazard for the host if this isn't done properly and would put it in non-working order. The pool was not available - empty, turned upside down, and with a broken down vehicle parked next to it near an airstream that they are also trying to list and overprice. The outdoor swing was covered by over growth and the back patio had unsafe wood planks, and it looks like the last time children played on the outdoor sets was decades ago. The house is older, and there are things to be expected when you rent a place like this, but despite that in general it was just not clean - specifically the bathrooms rusty tubs and kitchen utensils. The fourth 'bedroom' is also in the basement. This home is not the cute cottage that you think you are paying for and absolutely overpriced. It should be removed until the host can return it's condition to how it is presented.

We're sorry this guest's trip with both sets of in-laws wasn't the relaxing experience they had hoped for. We genuinely wish they had contacted us during their stay so we could have addressed any concerns in real time.
For future guests, we'd like to clarify a few points. Our 1940 country home is described in the listing as an older home with character and normal patina, and the private basement bedroom is clearly identified. The hot tub is professionally serviced between every guest stay and is one of our most appreciated amenities. For longer stays, we suggest adding a small amount of sanitizer after heavy use to help keep the water fresh for your own group—a common practice for private vacation rental hot tubs.
Several of the review photos show exactly what guests can expect from our two-acre property: mature pine trees, seasonal flowering gardens, multiple outdoor gathering spaces, and a peaceful wooded setting. The antique Santa Maria grill shown is a decorative feature of our outdoor fireplace area, while guests use the adjacent Weber grill for cooking. The photo of our truck depicts a personal vehicle parked in the corner of our private property, and the nearby Airstream is clearly identified in the listing as not part of the guest accommodation.
Like many rural properties in California's Gold Country, we practice seasonal water conservation during the summer months by prioritizing our mature trees and gardens rather than maintaining green lawns throughout the property.
This home is designed for guests seeking a peaceful country retreat with gardens, outdoor gathering spaces, a professionally maintained hot tub, and convenient access to Grass Valley, Nevada City, and the Yuba River. We encourage prospective guests to review our photos and listing description carefully to ensure our home is the right fit for their stay, and we're grateful that so many guests have found it to be exactly the quiet getaway they were looking for.
A total Grass Valley experience, lovely older home, on a beautiful piece of property.
Evenings we spent out on the back porch listening to the crickets and birds. 3 diffrent times at dusk we had buck's wander through the yard. Close to old Town GV but still out in the beautiful countryside. Can't wait to stay again!
Our family loves the outdoors. Nevada City is the perfect place for hiking and skiing. Our favorite time of year is late summer swimming in the Yuba river.
Why they chose this property
Our home rests in an opening in the forest, across from a beloved spring for drinking water and between the twin, gold country towns of Nevada City and Grass Valley.
What makes this property unique
