Creekside Cottage is a peaceful sanctuary away from the crowds, surrounded by the fresh, clean air of nature yet a short walk to both the downtown historical Nevada City are and the Seven Hills shopping district/School of Ayurveda.
Relax in this picturesque cabin nestled amongst oak and fir trees with moss covered rock boulders for a peaceful getaway nestled in a quiet wooded neighborhood. Wake up surrounded by sounds of nature, song birds and the sounds of nearby Deer Creek while you enjoy your morning coffee or your favorite afternoon beverage on the porch swing.
Since the start of COVID, we have implemented extra precautions including sanitizing high touch points to provide to safest space we can for your stay.
Deer Creek's hiking/biking trails are right outside the door or walk 12 min to Nevada City's. When you come visit and enjoy the town's magic, you’ll discover our charming cozy cottage is perfect for your getaway.
The cottage (a separate building from the main home) includes a well-appointed kitchen with stovetop, refrigerator, coffee maker, convection. toaster oven and eating island. The bedroom area includes a comfy Queen bed. The living area is cozy and comfortable with a love seat sofa, flat screen TV, games and dining/game table, warmed by a gas woodstove. A air bed can be provided for an additional guest upon request. The bathroom is well stocked with a hairdryer, shampoo, conditioner and body wash.
We provide the essentials plus additional amenities to make your stay enjoyable:
• complimentary coffee beans, coffee grinder and drip maker
• Assortment of teas, electric and stovetop tea kettles
• toaster oven, shake blender, crock pot
• full kitchen setup (dishes, silverware, pots, pans, cups, mugs wine glasses)
• dishwasher and detergent
• flat screen HD TV with X1 Xfinity, Netflix, Hulu and DVDs
• iron & ironing board
• hair dryer, shampoo, conditioner, body wash
• xfinity high-speed wireless internet
• single air bed for additional guest can be set up in living room upon request
• gas fireplace
• flashlights provided for your walk to/from town
• large screened porch with grill chairs and porch swing
This is a non-smoking home, inside or outside.
The Nevada City area has been booming with new trails connecting the town to its Deer Creek watershed. The latest major addition is the Deer Creek Environs section of the Tribute Trail. This trailhead is a short 2 minute walk from the cottage. The Environs is a forested 1.5 mile loop on the south side of Deer Creek where, just a few minutes from town. There’s a walk along the old Rough and Ready ditch, a woodsy foray downslope from the ditch, remnants of the Providence Mine, and an easy connection by foot or bicycle to Nevada City.
Guest access
The cottage is conveniently located on a quiet street with separate driveway. The front door is opened using a unique access code that will be provided to you the day of arrival.
The cottage is nestled in natural, non-manicured, outdoor surroundings with a private gravel driveway and off-street parking. If we know you are arriving after dark, we will leave lights on for you as there are no street lights on our end of the street. The cottage is the first house on the right just after the row of mailboxes, also on the right.
Guest interaction
We have you self-check-in and give you as much privacy as you want but are delighted to meet you on your arrival at your request. We'll leave that up to you to let us know. We are happy to answer questions about the area via email, phone, text or live in person.

Betsy has lived in the Nevada City area since 2004. She moved here with her husband Cliff and small daughter (at the time). Betsy and Cliff find great satisfaction supporting our local non-profits. Betsy has been on the board of the Center for the Arts since 2013 and is currently board president. Cliff is board president for our youth organization NEO and volunteers for Nevada County Search and Rescue.
Our family loves traveling and active outdoor activities including skiing, mountain biking, camping, hiking, backpacking and swimming at the Yuba River. We also enjoy attending the incredible live entertainment that is found in this amazing community.

We purchased this property because we love the setting and the location. This property, with it's large granite boulders, beautiful trees and flowing Deer Creek is truly magical!
