In order to ensure that the cottage is clean and as safe as possible we are spacing at least 2 days between guest visits. We have enhanced our cleaning routines and are taking extra care to disinfect the cottage due to COVID-19.

Looking for a beautiful retreat nestled in the mountains or a family vacation getaway - you've found it!

Whispering Creek Cottage located in historic Little Switzerland is just off the Blue Ridge Parkway with easy access to Asheville & Blowing Rock. A gently winding mountain road will guide your ascent to peace and tranquility as you approach this adorable 1915 cottage.

Whispering Creek Cottage is owned by two artists, who have added their own decorative flair to each room. This cozy two bedroom, one bath cottage has a large full kitchen/dining area, nice sizedliving room and sleeps four adults comfortably. The cottage offers all the amenities of home (Cable TV & WiFi Internet) with the feel of the past. You will love the heart-of-pine floors, the sound of rain on the tin roof, fireplaces in each bedroom, large front porch and original artwork throughout the cottage.

Whether sitting on the front porch or napping in the hammock you will be lulled by the babbling creek, which runs along side the cottage. The kids will have a grand time playing in the creek and with any luck will see a salamander or a crawfish hiding beneath the rocks. Summer nights bring promises of starlit skies, catching fire flies and roasting marshmallows in our outdoor fire pit.

The small towns of Marion at the bottom of the mountain and Spruce Pines on the other side of the Blue Ridge Parkway offer plenty of choices for grocery shopping or grabbing a bite to eat.

So whether spending your days relaxing at the cottage or enjoying a day of adventure in nature ... your stay at Whispering Creek Cottage will be one that you will long remember.

Wonderful Cottage / Great Stay

Cottage is superbly located for access to Blue Ridge Parkway and places beyond are all within a scenic drive. Historic home with retro decor to add to its charm. Brenda provides everything you need to feel right at home—complete kitchen with all utensils, pots/pans and other cookware. Very clear communication on how to care for the cottage and how to reach the caretaker if you need anything. Would definitely rebook in the future if visiting North Carolina!

Quaint and homey!

My husband and I really enjoyed our stay at Whispering Creek Cottage. The cottage is so quaint and homey and we loved just sitting on the porch listening to the creek nearby. Also, when they say no cell service, they mean it, so I was glad to have a landline. We lost power at one point, though no control of the owner, and just went to town during that time. The owner and property manager were very responsive during our stay. We would stay again!

Wonderful retreat!

Such a charming cottage by the creek, and it's just down the road from Little Switzerland. Even though we were there in early January, it was warm enough to spend some time rocking on the porch, and even to take a brief nap in the hammock, serenaded by the rushing water nearby. Our only disappointment--the gas stove wasn't working (I'm sure it will be fixed for the next season). We're also "firm mattress" folks, and the bed's definitely on the soft side, but I know that's more a personal preference. Overall, a wonderful place to get away--we highly recommend it, and hope to return!

A little piece of paradise in the mountains woods...

We enjoyed our three weeks stay very much. Everything was just wonderful. This property was absolutely amazing....the creek right outside was a dream ...was able to sleep with open windows and listen to it... raised boats down the stream... roasted marshmallows at the fire pit, had breakfast every morning outside on the porch, watch hummingbirds, picked wine-berries growing on the property and many other things... our two daughters 10&13) were thrilled... owners and caretaker of house were very helpful and responsive... We would love to come back one day... Overall, the cabin rental was everything that was advertised and more...

Authentic Mountain Cottage

If you are looking for an authentic cottage with tastefully eclectic decor, a tin roof, a creek you can hear from the large front porch, on a meandering mountain road-this is the place for you! Also, If you are there on a weekend, you will most likely get to wave at passing motorcycles as they make their way to Little Switzerland. (If you have knee problems or balance challenges this might not be your perfect choice. The house is on property that is part of a mountain, so it does have climbing up and down inclines as part of the experience.)

We enjoyed out stay at Whispering Creek. The beds were very comfortable. While sitting on the front porch, you can hear the creek. Very peaceful. It is definitely secluded and you must walk a little bit into the woods to get to the fire pit so bring your flashlight!

A different (but good) kind of Christmas

Summerized version: I loved it. But I need to tell a bit more. This place was so cozy and welcoming. It felt like going back to a home I loved. Everything we needed was there. The porch is fantastic. Just know if you go that the roads are very crooked and curvy and it is a good distance to go back to town for anything.

Beautiful and eclectic home

We had a great time staying at the house. We had fires at the fire pit each night, and our daughter played in the creek. The only downside is there are not a lot of restaurants within a 30 minute drive.

We have put in a lot of work to renovate this 1915 cottage to make it comfortable for life in the 21st century while still keeping its early 20th century charm. It is a perfect place to get away from your everyday life. We love it so much that we want to share it with others. We hope you consider staying at our lovely cottage.

Why they chose this property

I have enjoyed this area of the country for years. My husband and I are both artists and we love the fact that there are so many artist living and working in the area. We also enjoy camping, hiking and fishing and this area is great for those pursuits.

What makes this property unique

I find that when we stay at the cottage we can fully relax. The fresh mountain air and the beautiful starlit nights amaze us each time we come here.
