About the host
Hosted by Emma Brown
My husband Scott is originally from Nova Scotia and I am from Toronto, but I have always wanted to live in Muskoka full-time and now I do :) Scott and I have done a lot of traveling and we've rented many vacation spots. We love finding special and unique places and seeing what other hosts have to offer. Now we love spending as much time on our lake property as possible. We live a couple of properties down the road, so far enough away that you won't know we're there, but close enough in case you need something. We love sharing our little piece of Muskoka heaven with people who love nature and who love spending time at the cottage.
Why they chose this property
Rock Lake is just off Hwy 11 in the north end of Huntsville. It is a very quiet lake. There are only 8 cottages and Crown Land surrounds each property. Only two cottages are in view from ours, so you won't see many people. It is very peaceful and we appreciate that our guests respect this aspect of the lake.
The town of Huntsville is lovely and is only 15 minutes south of us, with all of the amenities you need; great restaurants, coffee shops, retail shopping, and parks. Experience the feeling of being deep in the wilderness with easy and fast access to a fair-sized town! If you are looking for just a quick trip to replenish the "staples", the next exit north on Hwy 11 is the town of Novar, where there is a small plaza right off the highway with a grocery store, LCBO, post office, and gas station. Very handy!
Rock Lake is part of the Muskoka District, an area made up of some 1,600 lakes, making it a popular cottage destination. There are also several villages/towns, farming communities, breweries, golf courses, marinas, cool shops, great restaurants, music venues, outdoor adventures, and much more!
Winter activities:
We provide snowshoes for exploring our own trails or walking on the lake, we have a skating rink on the lake when the weather permits and you can also cross-country ski on the lake.
But also close by:
*Arrowhead Park (good for cross-country skiing, skating, and snowshoeing) - 12 min
*Hidden Valley Ski Club (downhill skiing) - 20 min
*Dog Sledding – North Ridge Ranch

What makes this property unique
There is parking for up to 6 cars in our driveway.
In the winter all-wheel drive and snow tires are mandatory. The road is an all-season road that is maintained and plowed in the winter, but it has gravel underneath and is not sanded or salted. It can be challenging for some vehicles (without AWD) with a couple of hills and sometimes icy conditions.
Once in Huntsville or some of the towns in Muskoka, you can park and walk around. There are also plenty of biking, walking, hiking, cross-country skiing, and snowshoeing trails in Muskoka.
