Everything was exactly as described in VRBO.The cottage is cozy and comfortable and the deck was perfect for family dinners and game nights. We took advantage of the kayaks and paddle boat and enjoyed swimming in Lake St.Catherine. Thank you to our hosts who responded to every question very quickly.Highly recommend!
We had a fantastic long weekend stay. House was very well equipped for two different families to stay. Plenty of space for kids and adults to empty different activities. Water access is great and we all loved the boats. Hosts were very communicative and kind.
We had a wonderful stay at Broyles’s house! The house is spacious enough for large groups, and ideally located for outdoor activities in the mountains. The pool & ping pong table combo were ideal for a fun day inside as well. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay.
Very clean and tidy. We had fun playing ping pong and watching movies. Too bad it rained the entire time, but that's not the owners' fault. I recommend!
Beautiful setting and the house was spacious. I would recommend especially with 2 families. Downstairs was complete with bedroom, bathroom and living area with tv.
We couldn't have had a better time! The house was meticulously clean and so pretty, and absolutely loved the long deck looking out on the water. The fire pit was great fun in the evenings and there was lots of outdoor space for enjoying a good time. The hosts were so warm and friendly and responded quickly to any questions. Loved it!
Joel was a very accommodating host . The house was great for our family. It rained the first 2 days , but the family kept occupied playing all the games in lower level . Memorial Day was beautiful, and after a quick text to Joel , we were able to checkout late to enjoy the outdoors of the property. Very impressed on the WHOLE EXPERIENCE !! I would HIGHLY recommend this house and hosts
The listing doesn’t not do justice…. This property was so peaceful and the interior of the home was absolute perfection.
My gaming of 5 had an amazing week, and the game room is such a nice touch for 3 kiddos.
The house was clean and full of extras such as a multi function game table, shelves of assorted boxed games & cards. There was a large deck with a large BBQ. All the rooms a large family would need. Clean and functional kitchen. A responsive owner that was immediately available for any questions. The view of the lake was delightful. If you find yourself in the Poultney VT. vicinity,
this is the place to stay.
Our stay at the Poultney Lake House was everything we'd hoped for and more. Thoughtfully decorated, extremely tidy and not lacking for amenities, it was a perfect escape from suburban life in CT. When we weren't at the house, enjoying kayaking, family game night, a Celtics win or simply a good book on the deck, we hiked Lewis Deane Loop for a breathtaking view of Lake Saint Catherine, biked the rail trail through "downtown" Poultney and lost a few golf balls at Lake Saint Catherine Country Club. We didn't make it to Whaleback Vineyard, so we'll just have to schedule a return trip. Thanks for everything!
Very well appointed, beautifully decorated and in a great location within 15 min of town. Plenty of sleeping room with 3 bedrooms on the main floor and 1 in the finished basement. Outdoor space was special. Deck has 5 comfortable Adirondack chairs with tables, picnic table, and quality gas grill. Also additional seating on the lawn overlooking the water with a fire pit. There was road noise from the other side of the pond but not so much that it was a nuisance. We used the 4 kayaks a lot. There is also a paddle boat which we didn’t get a chance to try. Owners very responsive. Overall it was a great stay and we would like to come back!
My family had a great time here! There was plenty to do both inside and out. My kids especially loved the ping pong/pool game table. There were tons of board games and puzzles that we didn’t even touch because the game table was so much fun. We also loved having two living areas. The kitchen was hard to cook for a family of 5 with teen boys (needed to make a lot of quantity) but that didn’t take away from our trip, just good to know. We ate at several local restaurants. My favorite outdoor activity was kayaking and one of my sons loved that the house came with fishing poles and a tackle box. We had a lot of fun on the pond and lake. I appreciated all of the extras that were provided - lots of fans, dehumidifier, extra blankets and pillows, laundry detergent, extra household supplies. That made our stay easy and comfortable. The owners were very kind and communicative!
Our family of 6 stayed for 6 days/5 nights. We have a 5 year old and triplet 9 year olds & the property was perfect for their ages. We fished off the docks daily, enjoyed kayaking and paddleboating. Great peaceful view just sitting on the dock, the back deck, or even looking outside from the living room window.
On a rainy day - we loved the multi-purpose game table downstairs that let us play pool, ping pong, and air hockey. The house was comfortable with ceiling fans, box fans, and air conditioning. We liked that we could use the shed to store our outdoor items during the day.
Peaceful area that we’ve never been to before. Activities we all loved included horseback riding at Mountain Top Inn, the Adventure Center at Killington, seeing the foals at the Morgan Horse Farm, and swimming at both Bomoseen and Lake St Catherine State Parks.
Wonderful place to vacation!
This beautiful lakefront home truly exceeded our expectations! We are a family of 9 including kids and found this home perfect in terms of great comfort, quality furnishing, a well-equipped kitchen, amenities, plenty of indoor games and outdoor activities, not to mention the picturesque views of the lake from the deck and direct access to the water.
The hosts, Joel and Jen, were extremely pleasant to deal with and accommodating to our needs. They have generously provided every amenity in their home that you can think of to have one fun-filled staycation. We were able to do so many things in a short time like bike ride along the pretty lake, kayaking, paddle-boating, fishing and after all the fun outdoor stuff, we just settled down by the firepit roasting corn and marshmallows. We just enjoyed the cozy basement/den, smartly planned out with a pool table that converts into a ping-pong & air-hockey table, lots of popular board games and a music speaker too.
Poultney is one of the busier towns in the area, it’s worth visiting Downtown, Slate Valley Trails, local farm stands and nearby beaches. The Rail Trail Eatery is a lovely place for a homely breakfast.
We would not hesitate a minute to book here again and make some wonderful memories!
