Good time. Easy communication. Would recommend better crabbing or fishing gear. Brought our own but would have been nice to have it available there.

Hi Randy, We appreciate you staying with us and your wonderful review. Although just as reference regarding the (fishing and crabbing gear) we actually do not offer or aupply any gear at all. So most likely you were lucky enough to use some gear left over by other guest. But it sounds like it worked out! We appreciate you choosing our wonderful property. Thanks a bunch

Family reunion

Great place to celebrate a 90th birthday with family members. Lots of do on the property and the drive to town is minimal. Host is very responsive.

Wow! What an incredible property and house. We were a group of families with small kids, and it was heaven for them playing in the pool, on the dock, on the playground, and in the expansive yard. Lots of beautiful sunsets on the patio for the grown-ups too. We never had to leave. Can't recommend highly enough.

Lovely time

The property was perfect for our family get together. We had a baby, toddler, preschooler, elementary and teens, moms, dads and grandparents. There was a place for everyone. Having a pack n’ play available would have been nice, but we procured one elsewhere. The property was large and felt very private, but Cambridge was just a quick drive.

Finding a home for four families was quite a challenge, as so many places were already booked up, but we are so glad we ended up booking this property! To be honest, I didn't have high expectations at first, but the view was completely worth it! We weren’t able to jump in the water for a "moms’ float” due to the jelly fish and sting rays , but that didn't matter at all because we spent most of our time hanging out in the big pool. Meanwhile, the kids had an amazing time crabbing, which kept them happily occupied all day long. The layout was fantastic for our large group. We put all the children on one side of the house, which meant the adults could actually sleep peacefully at night! The house isn't modern, but it has a ton of charm. I especially loved sitting in the family room at night—there was plenty of seating for everyone, and the decor was lovely.A few quick tips for future guests: cooking in the kitchen for 20 people was a bit tricky, so we relied mostly on grilling, and the bathrooms are older (likely original to the house). Also, be prepared for some bugs. But honestly? The kids didn’t even care so much for that !What truly made this home special was that incredible view! One of our families even said it was their favorite place we've stayed at in all our 6 to 7 years of traveling together.Thank you for sharing your home with us!

Hi, We certainly appreciate you choosing our wonderful property and were happy to host you. Not sure unfortunately where the 8 out of 10 rating came came from, especially since there's a main kitchen and a Butler's kitchen to prepare food for a lot of people. We really haven't had anyone ever complain about that till now. In regards to the jellyfish, sting rays and bugs and things of that nature it's very difficult if not impossible for us to control such inconveniences as it is the country and the Chesapeake Bay.. The bathrooms are definitely adequate, clean, and nice at the very least... and the main master bathroom has been totally renovated with granite and tile so I'm a little confused with that also. We do however appreciate you staying with us we are just a little confused with the rating and the feedback as we typically get a 10 out of 10 in most cases especially with the things that are in our control. Thanks!

Excellent stay - 10 adults and 6 kids ages 4-11. Pool and tire swing were huge hits with the kids. House accommodated us well - there are 5 thermostats to help control the various spaces. Guest house with kitchen and pool table and huge living room was clutch for our birthday party and karaoke. Loved the pier for fishing and had a fire in the pit every night. There were a lot of biting flies since you’re so near the water. Take lots of bug spray. Host was super responsive and quick. Pool needed cleaned when we arrived and we didn’t know how to deal with the cleaner. Instructions on that could’ve helped, but host sent someone over right away. We ran out of water and fridge puts filtered water and ice out really slow - advise bringing plenty of ice and bottled water. Drip coffeemaker wasn’t the best - we had grounds in our coffee no matter how many filters we tried to use. Espresso machine couldn’t work for us - it wouldn’t run our ground coffee through. Minor things / nothing that would prevent us coming back. It’s a beautiful house and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay here.

Blue Farm Fun

Loved the house. Looked just like the pictures only nicer. We were a family of 11 and there was something for everyone young and old. Fishing off the dock was a big favorite. The pool house was especially fun filled in the evening with playing pool, cards, games, etc. The pool was big that everyone had their "own space" or played together! One thing the pool does not have a railing to get in or out, but not difficult. The air conditioner in some rooms was a little spotty. The outside screened porch was comfortable for early morning coffee...beautiful sunrises, and just gathering together. The host left soap and other nice touches in the rooms. Loved the place and hope to return someday.

Hi Janice, We loved hosting you and you were a wonderful guest. Glad you enjoyed the property and one small tidbit is that the air conditioning at the time unbeknownst to us was having an issue. We actually are in the process of replacing with new this week and everything should be super comfortable for all of our guests moving forward. We hope to host you again! Doug

The house and property were even better than expected. While the house had plenty of room to allow everyone to fit comfortably and spread out, it also provided lots of spaces for us to gather together as a large group. We are a family of 15, including adults, teens, and children, and we came together for a weekend of quality time outdoors together, which was exactly what this property provided. The outdoor space was an absolute dream. We spent most daytime hours swimming in the pool, crabbing and fishing from the pier, and playing games on the property like with football ball and kickball.. We spend evenings around the fire pit and on the screened porch, playing games and just being together. The house was the perfect combination of classic character and modern comfort, but the location and water views were the best part of our stay. Doug was a fantastic host. He was responsive to questions and inquiries and provided some great suggestions to make our stay the best it could be. Check in and check out were a breeze. We highly recommend this property and will certainly return on our next visit to Cambridge!

Beautiful, private property

I took my family on this vacation because it was large enough for all of my children, their spouses and grandchildren to spread out. There were multiple activities such as fishing, crabbing, swimming in the pool, kayaking, hiking and beach "treasurer hunts" to find things like sea glass, shells, etc. We really loved the dock and its illumination, the screened in porch area and the backyard area at night with the lights were very nice. Unfortunately, we only had one good day of weather. I would recommend that the owners supply more pans, pots, measuring tools and other cookware or inform future guests of what is available. The glasses, plates, bowls and utensils were very plentiful. The house and pool house require some updating with electrical outlets, lighting in the dining room, installing exhaust fans in bathrooms, and the HVAC system was hard to keep at a comfortable temperature in certain areas of the house. Other than that, it's an amazing piece of property with a ton of river frontage. The views and places to hike were just serene and gorgeous.

We are a large family and stayed a week here. There are glorious views and the salt water pool was a hit and very clean. We all had fun fishing from the dock. There is no beach. We enjoyed the kayaks. There was no extension cord for the outside lights, and overall the property needed some TLC. The pool house smelled musty & we aired it out as much as possible as some of our family used it for sleeping & games. The main house was adequate but needed some updating. In particular the windows needed cleaning.

Hi Marion, We appreciate you staying with us. And we will be addressing some of those issues without a doubt. In regards to the lighting, I explained how to rectify the issue and never heard back from you, so I assumed you were all set. Wish you had called me because it was an easy fix/solution for the lights. In regards to the pool house, it is unfortunately a "pool" house in which "wet" people tend to hang out in there which could potentially allow it to smell musty as you say. This property has a rich heritage and some of what you describe as "shabby" is not necessarily shabby in the sense of the word. The home is amazing with history and character that is truly appreciated by most. Very sorry you had less then a 5 star stay as most do. We will however look into some of the feedback and make improvements where truly needed. Thanks again for staying at our amazing property!
