A unique stay approximately 11 miles from Chattanooga, TN, but minutes to many dining establishments, movie theatre, bowling alley, supermarkets and golf courses in the suburb of Hixson. While it is nice to be close to everything, it is always pleasant when to come in after a busy day to a peaceful sanctuary and this is what you'll find taking a short piece down a private drive to a gated entrance that opens up to two homes on almost 4 acres that are nestled between the trees.
The Ole Pole Barn has been remodeled into a cozy cabin for two in a private park-like setting. Enjoy the large deck and if it starts to rain, grab the umbrella and go the patio to listen to the sound of rain on the tin roof. Your cabin also has a park grill in front of the deck. The cabin is equipped with 2 Roku Smart TV's, fully equipped kitchen, washer, dryer and more.
We encourage out guests to enjoy the entire property (except the fenced area behind our house which is for our dogs). We do not allow our dogs to explore outside their fence when guests are here. In the common area, there are picnic tables, a park grill, swing, a faux general store with a porch to sit on and a firepit with wood supplied. There are corn hole boards and bags available upon request.
We are pet friendly, limit 2; dogs only, with pet fee of $35.00 for the first pet and $15.00 for the second. Please let us know if you are bringing your fur babies.
We do live on the property and there is a 10' x 20' movie screen with drive-in movie speakers. On occasion we do show movies and guests are free to join at no charge. If you have your own projector that has sound, you are more than welcome to use the movie screen. We have a table or tripod available for use upon request.
We have just renovated a building on the property that was made of windows and doors with glass. It has been repurposed into a studio with the intention of having painting classes for guests in the future. In the meantime, our guests can visit "Windows into Creation," and enjoy a cup of coffee or tea in the sitting area with the outdoor views all around, but still in that perfect temperature.
**We do have a $500.00 deposit fee that is charged to the card used for booking and that is fully refundable within one week of departure if no damages are incurred.* This deposit fee is applicable even if you are not bringing pets.**
KNOW BEFORE YOU BOOK and this is WHY:
We want our guests to be happy and that our photos and description be representative of where you will stay and what to expect, if any of the things listed below are something that would cause you not to enjoy your visit, then we had rather for you to continue looking to find that perfect getaway and thank you for looking at our place:
The private drive that brings you to our property is about a tenth of a mile; with private being said, this is not a road kept up by the county so is a little rough, but not a problem for most cars unless they are extremely low to the ground. On the good side of this, this keeps most people off our little road and adds to the privacy you'll find when you get back here.
Note that the barn has a tin roof without an attic, so when it rains hard, it does get pretty loud.
Being beside Choo Choo (Chattanooga) city, there is a train crossing about a mile from the property, so if you're outside you will hear the trains blowing. You will hear the train from inside the Ole Pole Barn, but for most, it is not so loud that it is bothersome. We provide fans for those who like the white noise.
Basic paper products are provided to get you started on your trip; however, guests are responsible for any toiletry, paper product needs (aside from coffee filters) during your stay. We provide liquid soap at all sinks during your entire stay. Shampoo, conditioner, bodywash, toothpaste, toothbrush and lotion are available upon request: if you would like these to be available when you arrive, please let us know.

This cozy barn is much bigger than we expected it to be! It was a great location for us with our 2 dogs. You can get to different parts of Chattanooga in 15-25 minutes. Had everything we needed to cook meals, sleep, relax and plenty of space for our dogs too. Very clean and cozy!!
We loved the cabin. It had so many conveniences for us and our dogs. It was close enough to get to things we wanted to see in Chattanooga and lots of local places to eat as well. Our hosts were awey
The house was perfect size and a perfect setting for a mid winter getaway. Great location with close amenities but seemed very secluded at the same time. The furniture was very comfortable and the kitchen had everything you need. It was very clean and the hosts were extremely friendly .
The cabin was so comfortable. One of the cutest cabins we have stayed in. Perfect for a sisters weekend getaway. Close to everywhere we wanted to go. We will definitely be staying there again.
We had a perfect stay! The cabin was super cozy. We visit Chattanooga several times a year and we are so happy that we found this little hidden gem. We will be staying here again in the future!
If you’re an angler, this place if for you! I wish I could leave more stars for this review. The host were MOST welcoming and helpful. The property was beyond what I expected and this home is an absolute relaxing dream. Robert and April left us a fresh bowl of fruit which I thought was the best! This place is extremely clean and had every possible thing you will need. My husband and I came to fish Chickamauga for our anniversary and this place is a perfect location for just this. It’s located jist minutes from Chest Frost. The host even accommodated us with an extension cord so we could charge our batteries on the bass boat. I can safely say I’ve never felt more at home, away from home. Robert and April, thank you all so much for a wonderful stay! We will see you every time we visit here!
This stay was great! The location is ideal being within 10 minutes of anything you might need, while the property itself is tucked away and feels very private. Robert and April were incredibly nice and wonderful to talk to while also being very respectful of our privacy. Chattanooga is a short drive with many fun and beautiful attractions. We will definitely book again here the next time we come back to the area!
Our all-too-brief stay was truly memorable. The location is fantastic, pet-friendly, and super cozy with everything you need. We definitely recommend it!
Beautiful location, private and peaceful. Close to attractions. Very cute rustic cabin. Small touches were great. Great direction to location. Owners very helpful and answered questions quickly. Would definitely stay again.
Cute converted pole barn. Very quiet and peaceful but close enough to everything we wanted to do over our stay. We had a great time and would stay again if in the area.
Wonderful place. Great hosts. Quiet and peaceful even with the trains going by. Loved this place.

Really enjoyed spending time with Jim and Gale ,we had a lot of great stories to tell and so did Jim .We were very grateful to have such great guest and are truly looking forward to their next visit.
The home is very clean and cozy. I loved the fireplace. I never got to meet the hosts. My husband met Robert and said they had a very nice conversation. The kitchen had everything needed to cook and clean dishes with. We traveled to visit working family with our two dogs. They loved the walks on the private location. Very peaceful and relaxing.Close to restaurants and shopping. We will back visiting again. We hope this gem is available when we do. FYI the train noise is minimal even when you are outside or have the door open.

About the host
Hosted by Robert and April Sharp
Hello, my name is Robert. I recently retired after over 30 years with a large trucking company and my wife, April is an RN, at a large corporation she has been with for over 20 years. We originally bought the property for the purpose of having loved ones close, which we have since lost. We enjoy meeting others, so thought this type of business would provide us the opportunity to do that as well as to make someone else's vacation/get away special by having the things we look for when traveling.
Why they chose this property
We liked the location. It is close to everything needed, but it feels like it is in the country, so kind of a country/city, best of both worlds.
What makes this property unique
Close to everything but gated and secluded.
