Imagine sitting on your front porch in a rocking chair, listening to the waves crashing on the beach. This lovingly restored and beautifully appointed, 1970’s beach box will transport you back to the good ol’ days while providing you all the amenities you desire in your home away from home in the Outer Banks.

This three-bedroom, two-bath cottage is located just down the street from beach access and sits only 4 houses away from the ocean. Enjoy a view of the waves from the front porch!

Equipped with cable, WIFI, flat screen TVs (4), an expansive front porch, outdoor living spaces, a well-stocked kitchen, and a washer and dryer, Tommy Tautog’s has everything you need to enjoy easy beach living except your bathing suits and beach towels! Other linens (bedding, bath towels and washcloths) are provided by an independent vendor – the beds will be made when you arrive!

While the proximity to the beach is excellent, you’ll also find that this little gem on Walker Street offers easy access to the Avalon Pier and other great local attractions as well.

Our awesome caretakers, Mike and Lisa, are just as committed to your experience as we are!

We enjoyed our stay here, the beach house is very close to a beach access, making it super convenient. The variety of access to beach equipment made life so much easier and the home itself is adorable. We’d definitely rent this place again!

Great cottage. We got away for a boys trip an it had everything we needed. It’s nothing super fancy which was prefect. We didn’t need a lot. Very reasonably priced. Would stay again.

The house was perfect for our family of 4. The beach was a close walk. Stores were a quick drive too. Everything needed for a great stay is there already, you just need food and drinks and you’re all set. Would recommend to anyone! The outside shower is wonderful for returning from the beach and the provided games and dart board was a hit with the kids and Dad. The location, house, and the good communication between the owner and ourselves is enough for us to say we’ve found a place we will definitely be returning to for as long as it is available.

We had a great week-long stay for our vacation as a family of four with two small kids. The house was clean and well-maintained and everything we needed was there for us. There were plenty of games, actual usable kitchen equipment (which is hard to come by in rentals), and great AC. Jason was very communicative. We would definitely stay again!

This cottage was super cute and cozy. If you forgot ANYTHING at home, this cottage has it.... such as beach chairs, umbrellas, even charcoal for the grill! Very impressed and will definitely be looking to stay here again.

Excellent cottage for our family of 6. Pictures are exactly as the house is, and the beach was literally a 5 minute walk. Very convenient especially with little ones. The outdoor shower came in handy to help keep the sand from being tracked inside. The host, Jason, is easy to work with and great with communication! There were also many places to eat, all within a 10 minute drive or less. We plan to stay here again for future visits!

The place was acceptable for sure. But at 1st entry we were hit with a terrible musty smell that lingered all week obviously, somewhat permanent I guess until rectified. Including a/c system I'm sure. But a/c was awesome! The porch screens weren't in place so flies were a small issue. Popcorn under front of couch.Overall it was okay.

Had you reached out to us upon check-in we could have better assessed the situation ;( For our future guests, there are no musty odors indoors, the HVAC system was replaced 3 years ago including new duct work. Summer is very humid and we did experience a lot of rain this week which can contribute to an 'ocean' scent in the environment. Indeed there are flies at the Outer Banks, and they are outdoors thankfully. As can be seen in the photos, the porch is not screened which allows guests a slight view of ocean.

Everything was great during our stay.The kitchen was stocked with everything we needed to cook our meals and the garage was loaded with beach equipment. My family especially loved beach wagon. The only negative thing was the chewed gum left on the nightstand in the twin bedroom.

Wonderful rental! Only a short walk to the beach (1/2 a block at most). Perfectly designed for a renter who wants to use it as a launching pad for the beach, fishing off Avalon pier, and a host of other activities. And it's centrally located off the strip and the beach road to visit any of the shops and restaurants on either. Definitely will consider this property for a future rental!

This cottage was well arranged to make good use of a relatively small property. It was clean and all linens, towels, etc. were readily available. The one item needing approval is the living room sofa which had little support and leaked feathers. However,, that was not a deal breaker.

After a long drive in, got to Tommy’s cottage. Just as advertised and a throwback to simpler times. Just what I needed to unwind and forget the noise of the outside world. It would not have mattered what the weather was as long as the sound of the waves and the gentle winds rocked me to sleep. Plenty of things to do and everything needed to enjoy a few days truly off. Would I go back? Absolutely!
