About the host
Hosted by Melanie Schaubhut

Growing up exploring rivers in Texas gave me a love for the Texas Hill Country. Having lived on the San Marcos, Blanco, and Guadalupe rivers, I feel privileged to share my love of the outdoors, water sports, small towns, hiking, fishing, kayaking, and gathering with family and friends around the bonfire on the banks of a river. I look forward to meeting you as the owner and host of Treetop River Cabins.
The river has taught me to “Live an adventure and always go with the flow!”

Why they chose this property
The Upper Guadalupe River is a magical, peaceful, deep, slow- moving part of the river that fills my soul. The cabins are located up from the Center Point dam, making the water calm and deep like a lake, which is perfect for kayaking, swimming & fishing. The majestic Cypress Trees that line the banks are a true gift from Mother Nature! Our rustic Treetop River Cabins offer a cozy place to relax, reconnect with friends & family, and offer an option for outdoor adventure without ever leaving the property!
Downtown Center Point, which is less than ½ mile away, is a perfect location & community! It's in the heart of the Texas Hill Country and named appropriately because as my Grandpa Speedy explained “If you drew a map, it would look like a wagon wheel”, because it's right between Kerrville & Comfort, Bandera & Fredericksburg, Boerne & Ingram, making it a great spot for day trips, bike rides, wine tours, and motorcycle touring.
The small downtown of Center Point is filled with newly renovated historic buildings, offering fine dining, local provisions, monthly festivities, great food, local wine, and music almost every weekend! It's the perfect small town and the river is a bonus!

What makes this property unique
Each cabin is beautifully furnished with well-equipped kitchens, cozy bedrooms with comfy bedding, and huge deck that joins all the cabins together, and it's nestled in the branches of a giant cypress tree, high above the Upper Guadalupe River.
The common areas make it perfect for large groups, or family reunions, giving everyone their own private cabin, with large gathering areas outside. The privacy of each cabin make them perfect for a romantic weekend for two.
SPEEDY'S LIVE OAK LODGE:
Each cabin is decorated individually, honoring the personality of the family it was named after. Speedy's Live Oak Lodge was named after Grandpa Speedy, who taught us how to hunt, fish, ride horses, and never say an unkind word. Speedy was a honest, hardworking roustabout, and father to the 3 lovely Henderson Sisters, who raised their children having holidays at the camp house on the Blanco River in Wimberly, Texas.
