The vast neighborhood is comprised of many sub-districts (including the popular Condado) and is located on the northeast coast of Puerto Rico, sitting between Old San Juan to the east and Isla Verde to the west.
The area has attracted artists and other creative types for decades, including a number of notable residents, like Benicio del Toro and José Ferrer. As a result, you'll see art everywhere you turn here, from murals to museums and more.
Santurce has had its ups and downs through the years, and it definitely feels a little rough around the edges in some areas. Don't let that deter you from visiting though, because there are so many fun things to see and do here!
Getting Around:
Santurce is very walkable (especially along Calle Loiza and Calle Cerra), although it's spread out. You may need to stop for a few cool drinks or cocktails along the way. At night, I'd recommend taking an Uber if you'll be walking more than a few blocks. And parking can be really tight in Santurce, so leave your car behind in the apt.
