We absolutely loved The Ice House. Perfect location. Comfortable and soooo much character.
Will be our place to stay in CB!! Cool house with plenty of room. Comfortable beds and well equipped kitchen. Bus stop a block away takes you directly to resort. Better than staying on mountain as you have access to downtown CB walking.

Hi Amanda! Thank you for your kind words. We are glad you enjoyed the home and hope to have you back sometime soon!
My husband and I couldn't have found a better place to stay on our most recent visit to Crested Butte. The ambience what bar none. The Ice House had such a unique and comfortable feel. Like coming back home to a cozy, familial place. I would recommend this stay to anyone and everyone. Excellent.
The home is wonderful! Old world charm, with all necessary modern conveniences, it perfectly represents Crested Butte’s unique architectural history. Ideal location with easy walking distance to center of town. Everyone in my family loved it. We hope to return someday.
We've stayed the Ice House twice in two years. Very cozy, with lots of character and historical charm (and all the pros and cons that implies). There's no other place like it. If you want to feel like you're staying in old Crested Butte, this is the place. Superb location one block south of Elk and one block west of the Old Town Hall shuttle stop. Super convenient.
Amazing cabin with so many interesting details to match the history of the home. Perfect location for walking to Elk St and our favorite Camp4Coffee! We loved the deck and creek side seating areas. The fireplace was cozy and heated floors were just right! I felt like I was staying in a friend’s home. Definitely will recommend and return again. Thank you Brown family for sharing your wonderful home.

Fun place, plenty of space and great location.
All was good - except there was one bed on third floor that looked as if it was slept in - the first floor bath floor was dirty and I needed to scrub it. Think you might need to check on the cleaning staff.

Hi Sandra,
Thank you for your review. We are happy you enjoyed the size and location of the home. It is an older/historic property with a lot of character. I can assure you that the home was professionally cleaned. We will speak to our cleaners specifically about the tub and dust. Thanks and I hope to have you back in the future! UPDATE: 11/2 The home has been deep cleaned by a new cleaning crew.

Location and communication was great. Kitchen was well equipped. My one complaint would be the towels and linens are in dire need of replacement. Blankets and sheets in master were not nice and gray towels had bleach stains on most.

Hi Craig,
Thank you for your review. I'm so sorry to hear that you were not happy with the towels and linens in the master. Every bed has two sets of sheets, so it sounds like there is a set that shouldn't be in the mix. We will get those removed before the next guests arrive. The towels were replaced not too long ago, so it sounds like detergent with bleach was accidentally used or someone's face product has taken the color out. It's always hard with colored towels to avoid bleach stains like that. The owner has ordered new white towels to avoid this in the future. Thanks again for your feedback and if you stay with us again, please make sure to let us know asap during your stay if there is anything that should be brought to our attention.
Beautiful historic home in a fantastic location. Only two blocks from Elk Ave (Main Street), this was a great post-Labor Day retreat location for a guys mountain bike trip.
Great outdoor patio and right on the creek, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay
The only issues we had were the internet was a bit slower than for a big city (but it did handle the streaming demands we put on the system, it just took an extra second to get rolling) and the upstairs bedrooms had lower than average roofline. Overall, very understandable considering the location and age of the house.

Rooms had dust & cob webs above beds. -not pleasant . shower not finished??
We enjoyed fireplace but heat came on at @2:00anm and we could not breath upstairs. Parking ok and a nice man blew snow out of drive Dover could get the truck out to drive around. Skiing was great a little cold and cloudy in the first day an Christmas but wonderful other days. Bus worked well. Friendly shops were enjoyed. Nice art too. Will pick a newer house better bathrooms & gas stove next time

Oh no! So sorry to hear about the cob webs and dust. That is definitely not our standard of cleanliness and I will make sure to talk to our cleaners. The Ice House is a historic home, with a unique charm that most of our guests have enjoyed in the past. If you're looking for something more updated for your next stay, give us a call, we have options and we'd love to have you back!

Antique overloaded house
There were way too many antique items. The inside was junked with old furniture and just made the entire house cluttered. The goat mount was distasteful in the living room. There was no description of the third floor with the dormer bedroom, the stairs are steep, and no description of the 2nd bathroom with low ceiling. Plenty of kitchenware and towels. The grill could use upgrade for the money spent. Location was great with just a few minutes of walking to downtown shops and restaurants.

Location, location, location!
This charming little house has lots of character. It's quaint & cozy and conveniently located to Main Street. We loved the town of Crested Butte. So many amazing little shops and restaurants that we could walk to. The house itself felt like it could use a deep clean. With sloped ceilings and lots of nooks and crannies, if you are over 6' tall, it's probably not the best place for you. We needed more warm blankets and basics like wine glasses would have been nice. But at the end of the day, we were there to ski. We had so much fun as a family skiing and snowmobiling in God's country. The scenery is breathtaking. I did voice my concerns to the property manager (we were there during high season I wasn't expecting the Ritz Carlton but the house was quite expensive considering) they were receptive and kind regarding our concerns. Would I stay again? Absolutely... we created lots of memories and had some great laughs! And truly- you can't beat the location!
We really enjoyed our stay at this cabin. Perfect location and we'd love to come back in the summer and enjoy the back yard and creek. There was about 5' of snow all around the house, but drive and paths were shoveled out when we arrived. The heated floors did an incredible job keeping the house warm and cozy. I loved learning the history of the property and of the two log cabins.
The kitchen was reasonably well equipped and, other than not being able to find any trash bags after we took out the trash on Thursday, we seemed to have everything we needed and then some. The owners are obviously big collectors of things, so there's lots of stuff lying around and collecting dust. My only complaint is that the property seems to be in need of a deep clean behind and under things and possibly some fresh bed linens. The upstairs loft was perfect for kids, but the stairs would definitely be a bit tricky to navigate for older adults. I hate to be critical though because overall it really was a perfect place for us and we probably would stay again.

Great!
This wonderful cabin really captures rustic mystique. The outside property is simply extraordinary. This is more than a value and is certainly an adventure.
Be aware of the sunken master bedroom. This tight space is no place to safely wander in the dark. We discovered a way to cool off this too warm sleeping space by turning down the thermostat, cracking a back door and opening wide a window to finally allow outside air to cool us off.
Please folks: we guests are paying dearly – how about clear, quick communication of address, door code and Wi-Fi info? Email, text or VRBO message works. They leave it for you to find a notebook that looks like a local tourist guide (for the Wi-Fi), etc. Even a document on the frig would work.
This very special property is ideally located away from the bustle of Crested Butte but still very convenient to nearby shops and restaurants.
