Lake Gaston is a clear and beautiful lake located in the Piedmont of southern Virginia and northern North Carolina. It is the last major impoundment on the Roanoke River, and offers excellent water quality and water level fluctuations that are less than one foot. It is 35 miles long and has over 350 miles of shoreline. Lake Gaston is within a three hour drive of Washington DC, an hour and a half to two hours from Raleigh North Carolina and Virginia Beach Virginia.
Outside is where the real fun is! Our backyard leads right to the water and our boat dock, which is the center of lake life. The water off the dock is about 6 feet deep which is great for older kids and adults. Younger kids do well with the shallow water by the shore. Swimming, fishing, sunbathing (don’t forget the sunscreen), and relaxing all happen right there. It’s a great place to view the beautiful evening sky and sunsets. Skiing and tubing can be started right in front of the dock.
Besides the water sports, fishing is excellent at Lake Gaston! Available species include striped bass, largemouth bass, crappie, perch, sunfish, and our favorite dinner fish, channel catfish. Fishing from the dock is a favorite pastime for both young and old alike. Early mornings and evenings are usually better, but when is fishing not good?
Lastly, one of the best pastimes at the lake is RELAXING! Whether it be enjoying the view, reading a book, napping in the sun, soaking in the hot tub, roasting marshmallows over the fire pit at night, or mountain biking on the nearby trails. There is something about the lake that lets you leave everyday stress behind for awhile. This is what we most enjoy about our lake house. One day of vacation and you will feel as if you've been there a week already! We invite you to come and see for yourselves.
Comfortable, roomy lakefront home located in northeast quadrant of Lake Gaston.

Thank you for your feedback Renee! We really appreciate your thoughts and how well you treated our home. You are welcome back any time :)
Thank you again and hope the new TV helped with your stay!
OUTSTANDING HOUSE, Everything labelled in the kitchen. Host is very reachable. We had a great time, can't say enough good things about this rental experience.
If you love a lake vacation this is the place. Swimming, fishing, boating, with all the best amenities of home! We feel in love and promise to be back.
Great house and location. We loved our stay. The cove is the perfect place to float on a hot summer day. Be sure to bring your floats. We rented a boat for the week and had no trouble docking it at the pier. The house is well stocked. Check in was a breeze. Hot tub was a treat. The neighbors are super nice and the owners were great communicators. Would definitely recommend the house!
We've rented from Megan and James for several years as overflow sleeping accommodations for a larger gathering that we do annually. The check-in process has always been extremely smooth and they have been accommodating to our requests. We will definitely continue this tradition.

Awesome Rental Home
We absolutely loved our trip this past week to Lake Gaston. The house was perfect! Fabulous location on the lake in a great cove. We paddle boarded, kayaked and floated in our cove without any concern about boats or jet skis. The house set up was perfect. The two decks and the living room/kitchen had great lake views. The house had a well stocked kitchen, plentiful sleeping accommodations, and was CLEAN! This was our first trip to Lake Gaston and definitely will not be our last. Megan and James were super easy to work with and have a lovely rental home that they are willing to share. THANK YOU!
The house and the setting are lovely. Deck with gates to keep a dog or toddler safe. Hot tub with lake view is relaxing. Well appointed kitchen. Only possible hesitation for elderly are some steps at entrance. Just a paradise overall.
We had a lovely stay at the lakehouse. The location was perfect - at the end of a quiet cove so the kids could play without concern for boats around them. The house was clean, well stocked and spacious. The kids loved the upstairs space- it was perfect for all 5 of them to stay upstairs while the adults kept on the main floor.
All had a great time and hope to return. Thanks to the wonderful hosts!
The property was nice, but a secure Wi-Fi is needed, there was expired food in the cabinet and open food in the freezer. There were not towels out for total needed. The blue rugs in first floor bathroom need to be tossed and they are fraying and it is carried into the shower. Great yard. We enjoyed our stay.
We rented this property for a family Thanksgiving Reunion. It was the perfect weekend getaway! We brought all our food, and cooked a feast together. Wonderfully stocked kitchen with everything you need, from pots and pans, to spices if you forget one! We enjoyed eating together, playing indoor games, finished a 500 piece puzzle together while watching Madagascar :D, brought our double Kayak, and enjoyed the outdoor hot tub and firepit!! A Wonderful location, and a Lovely Home, with incredible views. :) Thank you Megan and James for opening up your beautiful home!
The location of this house is awesome? The little ones could stand and play in the water and the adults could float around at the end of the dock. The home was also extremely well stocked. Loved having the hot tub!
The house and location were awesome! We had a great time swimming, kayaking, and paddleboarding. The hot tub was such a fun bonus that the whole family enjoyed!
We’ve been renting vacation homes at Lake Gaston for many years and this is one of the best we’ve stayed at so far. Perfect layout for our group of 3-4 adults, 4-5 kids, and 2 dogs. The kids loved having their own space upstairs (the youngest ones were so excited to have a mini kitchen up there) and the adults enjoyed the spaciousness and cleanliness of the downstairs bedrooms. Kitchen is a good size and easy to maneuver in with a larger crowd, and well-stocked with dishes, spices, pots and pans. The large dining table sat all of us comfortably. A HUGE bonus for us with toddlers and dogs was the rolling outdoor patio gates that allowed us to close off the deck stairs and keep them corralled with us on the beautiful deck. Plenty of parking for cars and it was easy for us to tie off the boat on the dock. We all enjoyed swimming in the cove and relaxing in the hot tub. We experienced a neighborhood-wide power outage while there and the owners were responsive and checked in with the energy company for us. A five-star stay and we will definitely be back!!
Plenty of room for the 11 of us, excellent location, right on the lake, swimming right there at the house. House was stocked with everything you need. Only drawback is the lack of local shopping, whether it be groceries, gifts, etc. the local stores have questionable meats and such, walmart is 35 minutes away. this is not a reflection on the house, but just a warning in general, as there is not too much around. this is by far the best lake location and house amenities we have found to date
Loved the house and property. Although a couple of chairs on the top deck were broken, the propane tanks were both empty.Boat parking was very small. Owners should put there boat on the trailer when they rent out property. also should let renters know of small boat area in the water as I had 2 boats there. Also trash from previous renters was never picked up and I had to drive 1/2 hour each way to empty it myself.

Thanks so much for the feedback Joe. First I'd like to apologize for the inconveniences you experienced during your stay. Secondly, I do wish you would have reached out to us during your stay as we could have remedied several of the issues you experienced. From now on, I really do suggest reaching out to the owners of a home you're renting as we don't know what we don't know. Our cleaning crew is normally really good about letting us know about damage but it does appear they missed the broken chairs. We were actually at the house for 2 weeks after your stay and we were able to take care of some items that needed replacing. We've replaced all broken chairs, and even added a new patio and new firepit down by the lake.
I also do have to say that only one boat is allowed per renter. We've made it more clear in our house rules section due to your feedback, but am sorry you did not know that ahead of your stay. We cannot allow renters to use our lift, as one summer we did and ended up spending thousands having to get the whole thing re-cabled. We provide a propane grill, and cannot guarantee the status of the tanks in between renters, but do offer reimbursement if you just send us the receipt. As far as the trash, again I wish you would have let us know because we would have called the county for you, and they would have come and picked it up. Being in a more rural area, sometimes the trash just gets missed and we have to call. Thanks again for renting our home, hope you had a good stay despite the issues.
This house has everything you need to relax and enjoy time with your family and friends during any season of the year. It's very stylishly decorated and the kitchen is amazingly equipped. The house is sparkly clean and comfortable. It has an amazing view and sunset experience from inside the house, the two decks, or better yet from the backyard and dock. It's peacefully located in a cove and in a quiet neighborhood but only ten minutes from the supermarket, coffee shop, gym, and other small business places. We definitely recommend this house. It's a paradise!
