Very nice location right in Algoma and very near Lake Michigan with a nice string to kayak in right behind the house. It was quite clean and relaxing and we were able to do laundry and use the full kitchen. Very nice patio overlooking the river and lots of nice wildlife to watch as well as beautiful foliage. A great experience overall and we'll be back!

Our stay in Unit A made for a most enjoyable and relaxing visit to Door County. Joseph was an excellent host, quickly responding to questions and the property reflected the intent to make guests comfortable and welcomed. The property is very nice! The host has done a great job providing everything you need in terms of practicality—bedding, towels, cleaning supplies, and a well supplied kitchen. This is a lovely place to stay in Algoma, easy walking distance to the harbor and restaurants, shops etc., while also being located in a very quiet neighborhood.

Just what we needed

Small and simple, perfect for a stay that involves lots of adventuring but you want to have a kitchen available for easy quick meals. As other reviewers said, there is quite a lot of noise from neighbors, but that's to be expected from an older home. It was awesome having kayaks available and Algoma was just an hour or so drive from so many fun things to do.

Quite and relaxing with view of river.

Joseph was very accommodating returning messages promptly. The street is narrow but we still managed to back our boat in the driveway. We loved the peaceful quiet neighborhood. We enjoyed listening to the birds sing, the geese swim by and a few kayakers. Thank you for the bottle of wine. We enjoyed it. This will be on my favorite list for our next visit.

Exactly what we were looking for!

Newly renovated and very welcoming! We enjoyed everything about our stay here. The first night there was a family with a lot of kids upstairs so you heard them running around, but it was nothing crazy. They had some ground coffee available and a bottle of wine, both locally sourced. I love the support of local businesses! Overall a quiet town, but can easily access a supermarket, winieries and restaurants. Loved the use of the kayaks went out in them a few times. Only thing i would recommend to the owners is to provide a few more pillows, we usually bring ours from home, but we accidentally left them behind.

Great rental, hosts were very responsive to messages. Clean property, didn't realize it had other rentals attached to it, which wasn't a problem but our kids were a little loud and didn't want to disturb others. This is why we stay at vrbos and not hotels.

Was going to post my final message to host, but not near enough room. Found several problems with unit including, but not limited to, filthy floor and tub. Within less than 3 1/2 hours of check in, I had notified host of all issues. At first he was helpful, but it quickly changed into blaming me for not bringing issues to his attention soon enough. Cleaning woman told him I got "super insert curse word" with her, I did not. Another cleaner said I demanded cleaning that night (after 8:30pm). I did not. They cleaned unit again on our 2nd day of stay. Still not clean. Host said he could have them come next day and we could be there to watch. Who wants to do that on vacation?! I don't recommend staying here. Guests should not be blamed for the problems created by the cleaning crew. Just stay somewhere else and avoid the aggravation. Could never get tub pic and floor video to load. I wish I could have as you would be able to see how bad it was.

We take cleanliness seriously and immediately addressed your concerns — our cleaner went out the same evening to provide extra towels, went to the store to provide additional dish towels (An item we do not supply) and returned the next day to deep-clean the floors (including steam-cleaning) and to treat mineral deposits on the tub. The tub staining is due to local well water in Algoma and we do our best to manage it between guests. We offered a full refund for any unused nights if you preferred to stay somewhere else, you declined. We regret you felt uncomfortable during the process and appreciate constructive reports so we can improve.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The property is very convenient to downtown Algoma and the lake, and is a good jumping off point for day trips. You get your own dedicated parking. This is an old house that has been meticulously updated and comfortably furnished. I would love to come back for another visit.
