Hunt for the Northern Lights

This house was the perfect house for our family. Our 3 grandkids loved the bunk room, as well as the igloo and sled run that previous occupants had built in the front yard. The house turned out to provide us the best vantage point for viewing the Northern Lights. Spectacular viewing! We also enjoyed the full Alaskan experience with dog sledding and feeding reindeer! It was a great vacation!

Lovely northern lights and wintery paradise

We had a lovely stay celebrating my fiance's mom's 60th birthday with his family. We went on a northern lights tour about 2 hours away from the house to fully see the lights, but there was one night we were able to see very subtle lights directly from the house at 7am. We also saw moose and a lynx from the house! It's a spacious and lovely home. Thank you!

Great for the family

Beautiful home. Well stocked - laundry detergent, dishwasher soap, paper towels, TP, etc. we had to was towels to accommodate the size of our group but that’s to be expected. Comfortable for our party of 10! During the summer months the sun does not let up and having window shades and curtains was a nice touch, though we still added towels and jackets to fill the gaps for total darkness 😂 The neighborhood is beautiful and easy to navigate.

Beautiful Chateau

We went to fairbanks to see the northern lights, sadly, the lights didn't come out but, it didn't really matter because we felt so comfortable and at ease at the chateau! Beautiful, clean and safe, it has everything you need and more! 100% recommended! Best choice in Fairbanks.

Winter wonderland House

Overall excellent place- Huge kitchen, Great Wall fireplace, loved warmed tile floors, comfortable beds, very clean Cons- could use more oven cookware like cookie sheet or deep pan, the water smelled bad sulfur essence A few lamps in the living room would be nice. Plenty of canned lights but a lot of light for early morning 😀

Not ideal for large groups

While this house is very accommodating with bedrooms and bed count, there is simply not enough seating on the main floor for everyone. The dining room table was so wobbly and creaky when trying to cut your food (had to go get allen keys to tighten the table, chairs and coffee table since they were so loose), and it only seats 6 people. The bar stools are just plopped at the end of a counter, no real eating area to speak of. There is also not enough dishes for 18 people. The living room can maybe comfortably sit 4 people and that is it. We found the space large, but poorly furnished for groups. The cooking ware is sparse, but we made it work. Bedrooms are comfortable and blackout curtains in place. The house is on septic and well water. The water smell is absolutely horrendous - people didn't even want to shower. (You made need a new anode rod in your water heater). The plumbing in the upstairs bathroom does not drain and when taking a shower, it backs up into the sink. This bathroom needs attention. The master bathroom reeked of very strong smoke upon our arrival as well. Only two showers for a big group. There are still nails in the wall, holes in the wall and old picture hangers - not a big deal, but you can tell the goal of turning this into a rental was to maximize cramming as many beds in here and a lot of details were overlooked. The location is peaceful and the views are spectacular. A few tweaks and this could be a great venue for maybe 10-12 people.
