About this property

New* WATERFRONT Bushplane Hangar Home *Jacuzzi* Aurora Views! ~Bushplane Escape~

It doesn’t get anymore Alaskan than this—your own 3-bedroom, waterfront airplane hangar home! The hangar home is located on a private lake and airstrip. Watch floatplanes take off and land right from the living room window! You have your own beach, will get the full Alaskan experience, yet only minutes from town and all the local attractions.
The space
New construction, industrial chic decor loaded with amenities: Wi-Fi, 55” Roku HDTV, luxurious sheets, high-end memory foam beds, towels & bath products. A nice patio facing the water, propane barbecue, a sled & 2 sets of snowshoes are available for your use. A Keurig and coffee maker pot with a selection of coffee, tea & hot chocolate are complimentary. All basic utensils & cookware needed to prepare a home-cooked meal are included. The entire space is bright, open and airy, with views of Alaskan planes and the Chena Hills beckoning you outside. Airplane parking available for a fly-in guests, tie downs available on site.
Guest access
The hangar home has its own separate outdoor entrance—the entire three bedroom apartment is available for guest use. The rest of the hangar is not available for guest use, it is where we store our personal aircraft.
Other things to note
8% Borough Bed Tax included in the total price

*We have small children ourselves, so have tried to make our place family-friendly. There is a pack-n-play, high chair, a basket of kids toys, puzzles and books and a few pre-teen chapter books for your convenience.

This area is generally very peaceful and quiet. However, as it is an aviation-centered community, there is the potential for airplane noise—planes coming and going sometimes as late as 10 pm. Please let me know if for some reason you need quiet earlier than this on any certain night and I will try to let my husband know to not go flying on that night

*Unsanctioned parties will result in an additional $500 penalty fee. If the apartment is left extremely dirty and needs deep cleaning, there will be an additional $200 cleaning fee assessed.

Late check out- we have a 10 minute grace period, after 10 minutes we charge $50 per half an hour until check out or double the nightly rate after one hour. Please be courteous of our cleaners and unless you have arranged a late check out or made other arrangements with us, check out is at 11 AM prompt.

*We do have outdoor cameras on the property that record both audio and video. They are only monitored to ensure registered guests arrive safely and in the event of any issues. They may not be covered or disabled

*We love animals, but we do not allow pets in the apartment. If you have a service animal, please answer the following questions legally allowed by the ADA regarding your service dog.
1. Is the dog a service animal required because of a disability?
2. What work or task has the dog been trained to perform?

*We ask a $50/dog/visit pet fee for service animals. Guest remains liable for any and all damage caused by people or dog.
Under the ADA, service animals must be harnessed, leashed, or tethered, unless these devices interfere with the service animal’s work or the individual’s disability prevents using these devices. In that case, the individual must maintain control of the animal through voice, signal, or other effective controls. The animal must be under control of the handler at all times therefore never left alone at any time.
If we discover a guest has misrepresented a pet as a service animal, we reserve the right to seek financial restitution, report fraudulent claims to government authorities and to evict the guest(s) without further notice. In the latter case, there will be no right to a refund for unused rent. The space

Cozy, spacious and well-kept property
What a great space. We would be happy to stay here again. It was a great space for us - two adult couples celebrating a 20-year friendship and new year's eve. We had plenty of space and the property was very clean and well stocked. At one point we needed scotch tape and we found it in the laundry room! The kitchen was extra well stocked with spices, coffee and condiments.

I have lived in Fairbanks for past 17 years, and I love everything Alaska has to offer. I enjoy all of the outdoors, nature, hiking, skiing, horses and traveling. I am very blessed to be a stay at home Mother of four. I live at another location in Fairbanks and you will most likely not see me.

Why they chose this property

It doesn’t get anymore Alaskan than this—your own 3-bedroom, waterfront airplane hangar home! The hangar home is located on a private lake and airstrip. Watch floatplanes take off and land right from the living room window! You have your own beach, will get the full Alaskan experience, yet only minutes from town and all the local attractions.

What makes this property unique

The hangar/home is located on the west side of Fairbanks in the Chena Marina subdivision. It is 5 min from grocery stores, the University of Alaska Museum and other local attractions like the Riverboat Discovery and the Georgeson Botanical Gardens. 10 min from the airport, downtown and the World Ice Art Championships, and walking distance from the Chena River. UAF (5 mins drive) boasts a sledding hill popular with the locals, an indoor public pool and indoor ice/hockey arena. It also has a x-country ski trail system, which makes for very nice hiking/walking in the summer (our favorites are the ones to/from Smith Lake).

Chena Hot Springs is 1.5 hours away and Denali National Park is about 2 hours away.

There is a paved bike path 1/2 mile from the hangar that goes into town— viewpoints of the Chena and Tanana Rivers, and right past the Pumphouse Restaurant (a national historic site). It is also an interesting walk or bike ride on the gravel roads around the neighborhood. With the many aircraft, a dog musher, and of course the occasional moose, you’re bound to have a memorable experience.

In summer, you can even fish for northern pike in the lake (don’t forget to buy a fishing license first). The area is a rustic, eclectic mix of industrial and residential—gold miners, pilots, hunting outfitters, helicopter charters and adventurers, you are surrounded by the “real” Alaska.

In winter there are views of the northern lights right from your deck or bedroom window, and if you’re lucky you’ll get to see a nearby dog musher exercise his dogteam across the frozen lake or through the neighborhood.
