This area is generally very peaceful and quiet. However, as it is an aviation-centered community, there is the potential for airplane noise—planes coming and going sometimes as late as 10 pm. Please let me know if for some reason you need quiet earlier than this on any certain night and I will try to let my husband know to not go flying on that night

Late check out- we have a 10 minute grace period, after 10 minutes we charge $50 per half an hour until check out or double the nightly rate after one hour. We absolutely loved everything about our stay here! The house was well stocked, very clean and very comfortable! We even saw a moose right out the living room window in the backyard.
Would give this VRBO 10 stars if that was possible!!! Everything was perfect and the hosts really put a lot of thought into making sure everything in the home was comfortable and functional. My husband has a bad back and is very picky about beds, and this one was firm and super comfortable. The location is super central to anything you would want to do in Fairbanks. It is also super quiet and very picturesque. We would definitely stay here again and have already recommended it to friends!
We loved and enjoyed our stay at the bushplane escape! Home is super cozy and jet bathtub is amazing! Great night sleep with comfy beds! Thanks for having us!
Great house. Roomy, clean, modern. Great process. The only thing that could have made the stay better was the weather, but we knew that booking in April. I can only imagine how much fun it would be with fun plane activity!
Loved 1st class furnishings. Loved watching planes fly off water and gravel. I am a private pilot and my grandson has 20 hours of training under his belt.
This home was in amazing shape. The location on the float plane marina was very unique and fun. Would definitely recommend.

Hello Terry, I am glad to hear you enjoyed your stay. The float pond waterfront is a guest favorite and so peaceful and relaxing. Thank you for the kind review and we hope to host you again!
This home was everything it said it would be. Great location close to the city, stocked with all the amenities needed in a home, and fantastic communication from the host. Would definitely stay here again.
The location was great. We were able to see the Aurora just walking out back. The kitchen is awesome with everything you need if you like to cook. The 3 bed/2 bath layout worked well for our family of 5.
The property is located in a great hangar home on the private waterway. We had the best time watching the planes come and go. Totally relaxing. The house far exceeded our expectations.
We stayed at the airplane hanger apartment for a reunion with our adult children, one of whom lives in Fairbanks. This is one of the nicest VRBO's we've stayed in. The views are picturesque and everything you need is in the very spacious home, even a fussball table! Very close to the airport and a bit more than 90 minutes to Denali.

I have lived in Fairbanks for past 17 years, and I love everything Alaska has to offer. I enjoy all of the outdoors, nature, hiking, skiing, horses and traveling. I am very blessed to be a stay at home Mother of four. I live at another location in Fairbanks and you will most likely not see me.
Why they chose this property
It doesn’t get anymore Alaskan than this—your own 3-bedroom, waterfront airplane hangar home! The hangar home is located on a private lake and airstrip. Watch floatplanes take off and land right from the living room window! You have your own beach, will get the full Alaskan experience, yet only minutes from town and all the local attractions.
What makes this property unique
The hangar/home is located on the west side of Fairbanks in the Chena Marina subdivision. It is 5 min from grocery stores, the University of Alaska Museum and other local attractions like the Riverboat Discovery and the Georgeson Botanical Gardens. 10 min from the airport, downtown and the World Ice Art Championships, and walking distance from the Chena River. UAF (5 mins drive) boasts a sledding hill popular with the locals, an indoor public pool and indoor ice/hockey arena. It also has a x-country ski trail system, which makes for very nice hiking/walking in the summer (our favorites are the ones to/from Smith Lake).
Chena Hot Springs is 1.5 hours away and Denali National Park is about 2 hours away.
There is a paved bike path 1/2 mile from the hangar that goes into town— viewpoints of the Chena and Tanana Rivers, and right past the Pumphouse Restaurant (a national historic site). It is also an interesting walk or bike ride on the gravel roads around the neighborhood. With the many aircraft, a dog musher, and of course the occasional moose, you’re bound to have a memorable experience.
In summer, you can even fish for northern pike in the lake (don’t forget to buy a fishing license first). The area is a rustic, eclectic mix of industrial and residential—gold miners, pilots, hunting outfitters, helicopter charters and adventurers, you are surrounded by the “real” Alaska.
In winter there are views of the northern lights right from your deck or bedroom window, and if you’re lucky you’ll get to see a nearby dog musher exercise his dogteam across the frozen lake or through the neighborhood.
