Esopus Creek

Second time staying here and just as pleased. Cabin is pristine upon arrival, having a light scent of maple as you enter. Not sure yet if we prefer spring or autumn, but would love to spend either or at the cabin. Mike & Joanne are fantastic.

Cabin In the Woods

Property and location are great for a relaxing get away. Cabin indoor and out is absolutely beautiful. Perfect mix of off the beaten path and close to shops/restaurants (very short drive into the village). Host was very helpful and accommodating. Will definitely be back.

Wonderful host, wonderful property

This was my second visit, and I can now affirm that this is a wonderful place to stay in both fall and summer. In addition to being in a gorgeous spot, the house is extremely comfortable, spotlessly clean and perfectly maintained. In addition, Michael is a wonderful host who goes above and beyond to make sure everything is great. I highly recommend staying here.

Fabulous vacation rental

This beautiful property is a veritable retreat from a crazy world. The property oozes peacefulness and beauty, and I can't imagine a place I would rather stay. Michael and JoAnne are phenomenal hosts and keep the place in great condition. It has everything you could ever want for a retreat or vacation. We clearly loved everything about it.

Great Summer Vacation

Every few years we head to the area to visit family during the summer. This was a great location. Convenient to anything we needed but tucked away to an area of Saugerties that nobody knows about. Great House, even better outside. spent most of our time Fishing, Swimming, and Kayaking in the creek.

Happy Place

This is our second time staying at our “Happy Place” cabin that already feels like home. And there’s no place like home! It’s such a peaceful and tranquil home at any time of the year. The hosts are charming, hospitable and take great pride of building the cabin themselves. Also, nice having them live down the road. Highly recommend staying here for short or lengthy stays.

Stunning!

So right off the rip I wasn't sure about this place because the GPS takes you to the wrong location. However the owner was incredible and guided us directly to the property. Which was well worth it. Absolutely stunning cabin so cute the outdoor space was perfect. Kayaks and Creek were a lot of fun and the views were beautiful. We hope to go back in the fall.

I couldn't expect for more

The cabin was so much more than I expected and my family loved it every part of it. We brought our dog and even she loved it so much :) The cabin was clean and beautiful and had everything we needed except for foods and clothes. We enjoyed kayaking and swimming right off the property - we brought an inflatable floating island and it was perfect. We enjoyed board/card games that come with the property and a fire pit right beside the cabin every night. And every morning we had coffee with this beautiful view overlooking the creek. My teenage boys said it was one of the most relaxing vacation ever. We'll definitely come back and already have recommended it to some of my friends. Thanks, Mike, for everything!

Second stay at the cabin

This was my second time staying at Michael's cabin on Esopus Creek and I am already planning my third! I can't say enough about how comfortable and serene this cabin is. My family and I had an unexpected animal emergency while visiting, and we were left comforted with knowing that we could come back to the cabin to relax after a long day of dealing with our sick equine family member. We loved having the kayaks, and enjoyed every evening outside around the gas fire pit. We had our dog with us who LOVES the woods and she just had a blast walking along the trails on the property. Thank you thank you thank you to Michael for opening his cabin to my family including our dog Delilah. I will most definitely be back and I can't stop recommending the cabin to my friends - as long as I'm not planning on staying there myself!!

Very cozy cabin in a wonderful setting

We came up to New York to spend Thanksgiving with our children and their 2 dogs. We were so pleased to find such a cozy cabin in a beautiful setting so near the town of Saugerties. Michael was very attentive to our needs. We were happy to utilized the kitchen for most of all our meals including Thanksgiving. The wood stove added to the cozy atmosphere and the dogs enjoyed walking in the woods. This property would be so lovely in the summer. I wish we could have utilized the porch and it's wonderful views. My only disappointment was how small the shower was. I think if anyone is over 250lbs they will not feel comfortable in the small shower. Other than that issue our stay was great!

Well-Appointed Log Cabin on the Creek

Spent a long weekend here with our dog & loved every minute of it! We were pleasantly surprised by the level of care & quality that went into this genuine owner-built Log Cabin. From the wrap-around porch, to the vaulted living area ceilings, the fully functional kitchen & bath and the quaint & rustic bedrooms, this cozy cabin exudes ambience in every detail. The owners were great & responsive to our needs and made our stay as pleasant as possible! All the basics are provided for: toiletries, kitchen & BBQ tools & gadgets, wood burning stove, multiple outdoor seating areas with fire pits, charcoal grill, electric grill, and even two Kayaks down by the creek ready for a leisurely paddle through a truly beautiful spot on the Earth! Our Labrador Retriever even went for morning swims during her daily patrols throughout the many acres of this wonderful property. Nice & private w/ hiking opportunities right on the premises, but the quaint little town of Saugerties is still close by with Kingston 15-minutes south for the larger chains/outlets. We would definitely come back to the well-kept and beautifully appointed 'Creekside Acres'!

We loved the cabin! It was a real treat to stay there. It was designed for comfort and complete relaxation. Clean and beautifully decorated! The location on Esopus Creek is amazing and the views are stunning! The cabin was a little hard to find with GPS but our host Mike guided us there with no problem. We would highly recommend this cabin for a quality stay when in the Hudson River Valley!

A hand-crafted log cabin, with a whimsical bear-themed decor, perched high above the Esopus Creek. About 80 steps down to the water where you can kayak on the creek and observe wildlife (swans this time, three years ago we spotted an eagle), drift between two heavily wooded steep banks, one side a sheer rock face. Close to the beautiful town of Saugerties. Listen as the lonesome whistle of a passing train lulls you to sleep. Owner lives next door and is a delight (also very responsive). Our third visit and not our last.

Why they chose this property

This property has been the culmination of a life long dream and a lifetime of work. Since the age of 5, I grew up as a summer and weekend kid on the adjacent land where my parents had a cabin. The property where this log cabin sits had belonged to friends of my parents.

Since the age of 14, I told them that I dreamed of living on this site and that I would do whatever it takes to buy it someday. What else could a teenager say. That was in 1978, and I had spent the subsequent 21 years pleading with them let me buy it. Of course, I didn't have any money at the time, so it was becoming a more and more elusive dream. While my parents' site was beautiful, as are all sites on the Esopus Creek, this had view to die for. One that looks all the way down the creek, for miles.
Finally, in 2000, at age 35, the previous owners sold me the land and held the mortgage, thus, putting my dream within reach. This log cabin was completed in 2005. I built it myself over the course of 3 years. My wife and I have lived in it full time since 2008 and have loved every moment here. We have since built our main house adjacent to this log cabin and have decided to offer it to guests that wish to enjoy the same beauty and peacefulness of this very special little corner of the world.

What makes this property unique

Unlike most lakefront properties, there is no one on the other side. Just nature. The home itself is completely hand built with hand peeled logs. And the sounds of the Forest at night are beautiful. Like jet skiing or fishing with your own boat? The village has a public beach with public ramp to put your watercraft in the water and bring it on down the creek to the cabin. Also, a great way to go from the cabin to the village by boat. Leave the car back at the ranch and cruise by water into the village.
