About this property

Waterfront retreat with boat dock & private ramp right off the river

Homosassa has been called the ultimate river town with its old Florida feel and happening waterfront venues with great food & live music. Come experience all it has to offer in this waterfront retreat right off the Homosassa River on a desirable wide, deep canal. This renovated open floor plan home is ideally located around the corner from where the Halls River empties into the Homosassa River. The house is situated right on the water so you are just a few steps away from enjoying a day on the water either boating, fishing, kayaking, snorkeling, scalloping or paddle boarding; or you can just relax & take in the views on the dock or back screened porch. Perfect location for walking to waterfront restaurants and shopping, or a short paddle to Homosassa Springs, Halls River, Monkey Island and endless sightseeing opportunities, or a short drive to Publix. If solitude is what you want, head to Halls River which is primarily undeveloped & wild along almost its entire length. This is an excellent spot for the avid bird watchers.

Upon entering the home, you are greeted by a spacious great room with knotty pine cathedral ceilings and open windows across the back of the home for a spectacular view of the water. The open kitchen plan boasts a large center island with extra seating, gas stove, built-in oven, refrigerator, dishwasher, microwave, air fryer/toaster oven combo, coffee makers (drip & K-cup), separate pantry and plenty of space for entertaining. Right off the kitchen is a separate covered patio where you can whip up a meal on the gas Blackstone Griddle and dine outdoors on the picnic style dining set.

A separate bunk room with 2 sets of bunk beds, television & a full bath have been recently completed for an additional area for the older kids to hang out. (Please see weight restrictions which apply to the top bunk beds.)

Enjoy the convenience of a private boat ramp to launch your watercraft and secure to the 52 foot dock. Launch your kayak or paddle board from the launcher located on the dock. After a day of fishing, clean your fresh catch on the fish cleaning station. Rinse the day off in the convenient outdoor shower.

There are 7 kayaks & a canoe available for your use.

We are Floridians, both born and raised in Florida with a love for the outdoors and everything involving water & fresh seafood.... fishing, scalloping, snorkeling, paddle boarding, kayaking, cooling off in one of the beautiful springs, sunset cruises on the river or out to the gulf, to name a few. After living in different parts of Florida, we gravitated to this area because of the excellent fishing & other water activities but we loved the feeling here on the Nature Coast because it reminds of us "Old Florida".... little slower, relaxed & quieter atmosphere surrounded by the natural beauty of Florida and all its wildlife .... and what started out as a vacation home to escape to when we wanted to unwind & unplug from our lives in Central Florida has now become our forever home. When it became harder & harder to leave our weekend retreat to go back to the Orlando area, we made the move full time & left behind all the hustle, bustle, theme parks & grown kids! We love the life we've created here and want to share with others the Old Florida we've grown to love.... plus we have a place to put the grown children when they come to visit us and bring the grandkids :)

Why they chose this property

Great convenient location right off the spring fed river with a deep, wide canal close to the famous Homosassa Springs Wildlife State Park (1.3 miles by car), waterfront restaurants, grocery stores and endless sightseeing opportunities on one of the many surrounding waterways.

What makes this property unique

What I loved about the house when I first entered was the openness of the floor plan, the wood beams & the knotty pine wood throughout..... from ceiling to floor. The back of the home is glass windows so you have the natural light coming in with a view of the water. Then you step out on the screened in porch and your backyard is the water since it was built over the canal. You can enjoy coffee, or beverage of your choice, waterfront style.
