The owners were exceptional and we felt very welcomed. Cupboards were stocked above the usual and the pool and spa were clean as a whistle!!!! We would definitely stay again!!!

Perfect Stay at a Beautiful, Quiet Spot

What a perfect stay we had at this beautiful, quiet spot. Lovely property for the dogs to explore and a beautiful, clean, perfectly appointed home for us to rest our heads. We have already booked a return stay and can't wait to come back. Many, many thanks to the fabulous hosts for opening their home to us.

Exactly what we wanted and then some.

This was by far the best experience we've ever had with a vacation rental. The property is massive, beautifully decorated, well stocked and organized, and immaculately clean. The hosts are extremely gracious and friendly, and super responsive to questions. I mentioned in our booking that we were celebrating my wife's birthday, and they even left a card for her and a wonderful gift completely unprompted. They truly go above and beyond to make it a great place to stay. A real 11/10 experience. This is going to be at the top of my list of destinations for a getaway.

Totally stocked house

Wonderful location and home with tons of space. Homeowners thought if everything stocking house with beach gear, pool toys, and everything you could possibly need in the kitchen. Great stay!

My wife and I have traveled a bit since I retired and we have really enjoyed our stays in short term rentals in the US, Mexico and Europe. We love learning, especially about new areas and people. By staying in real homes in real communities we find that we get so much more enjoyment out of our vacations. We are sharing our country retreat on the hill with others who enjoy traveling the same way.

Why they chose this property

Our family has owned Elkhorn Heights Retreat for going on 25 years and we've lived there fulltime on and off. This large home is in one of those off the beaten path California coast locations that only the locals, avid birders, and kayakers know about.

From the beginning, when the redwood trees were just twigs and the lap pool was just this swimmer's dream, our family found tranquility in the country home on the hill.
