This home was the perfect set up for our family. We thoroughly enjoyed the closeness to the water and proximity to Grand Haven as that is where the larger part of our family was staying for a family reunion.
Patricia, the owner was very informative very friendly to work with.
Great location easy to access multiple points for your sightseeing and adventures. Would highly recommend staying there again.
We stayed here for a golf trip. The house got 4 adult males comfortably and was close to all the locations we needed. Patricia was very helpful, attentive, and available while we stayed.
Rental worked great for our family. Was comfortable, close to a small beach that provided fun when Lake Michigan was too cold and turbulent, and Wednesday relaxing.
The place was so cozy and inviting. Very well stocked with everything including phone chargers and fans. A nice quiet location and convenient location.
We all enjoyed our stay. We liked the residence. It was very comfortable and clean. The owner was quick to respond to any questions/problems. Example the air conditioning was newly installed and needed tweaking. The owner and service were there by the afternoon and everything was great. She was very easy to deal and communicate with and very friendly. I would use this rental again.
The property was clean. This is an old house with some new updates close to the lake. My only complaint is that the air conditioning did not work very well upstairs and it wasn’t that hot outside. I would probably not rent this house again.

The 1-year-old Air Conditioner is sized right for the house. The temperature is set at 70’, and fans are provided in each upstairs room. Because the master bedroom faces south and west, it’s recommended that the blinds be closed in the afternoon, and the turbo fan used to help circulate the cool air.
Two full bathrooms with showers (1 upstairs and 1 downstairs. All the necessary items were there: laundry detergent; dish detergent, beach towels. shampoo/conditioner. Close to the beach. Very quiet neiGhborhood.. I would have liked twin beds in one room vs a queen. And there is a staircase quite steep but I'm 78 and manuevured quite well. All inall a 9.5!
This is a fantastic property with ample room for many guests to have their private time, large private yard, back sun porch, and the public beach, walking distance, is family friendly with bathrooms :). Later in our 5 night stay, we drove to the beach because we had innertubes, etc. so convenient! Patricia is excellent. We went kayaking and rented a sport pontoon boat (tubing and water skiing). Patricia has both wild and planted milkweed in the front of property. As for the monarchs, every day in the afternoon I watched 2 monarchs feed on the nectar and lay their eggs on the bottom of the leaves. You will also hear many soothing bird songs.
It all starts with the steps up into the house, they are very high and there aren't any hand rails. The floors are all uneven, most of the windows are dirty. There is cracked glass in the door leading to the sun porch. There is mold in the shower downstairs, and the withdrawal fan is so dirty that I was surprised it worked. We had ants in the kitchen. And the stairs going upstairs are treacherous, no handrails on the two lower stairs leading up to landing. We found a dead mouse one morning, and discovered a rat/mouse trap outside by the garbage cans. Duct tape on the door handle of the outside door. And if you love soft foam mattresses with no back support, this is the place for you. Needless to say, we left early. The good reviews listed before makes us wonder if they actually stayed there! We have photos to back this up.
The location was great. The house is an older home but with updates.. we had a problem with ants so we called the owner who tried to take care of the problem. We ended up calling her back because we couldn’t sit anything out without coming back to it being covered with ants so we didn’t get to use the kitchen or the kitchen counter we had to sit things on shelves so that wouldn’t be covered with ants. The owner tried to fix the problem. The toilet handle broke. One of the drawers handles pulled off. There were no coverings on a lot of the windows including the upstairs bathroom as well. It was very hot upstairs at night . No window coverings in the bedroom where the afternoon sun beat down and winded up, trying to cover the windows with pillows to keep it cool upstairs at night. Several of their windows in the home were cracked or broken. The outside is very rundown, a giant pot of standing water, broken bikes, and parts, shutters, etc. just piled up in a corner. The outside is very grown up with weeds and debris…We felt like these things should’ve been taken care of before we arrived at the house …. . When the toilet handle broke, I sent a message to the owner, but I told her not to worry about it. We could handle one more day of sharing the bathroom downstairs. She’s simply replied with “I just received your message. Had you called me, I would’ve taken care of it. .. Safe travels”.

Sadly, any response becomes a “he said, she said” situation, but because I value each guest and take pride in my home, I am responding to this very lengthy review.
I believe this guest was unhappy when she asked for a discount for the first night, because 3 of their party would not be arriving until the next night; the rate is for the property, not the number of guests.
After these guests left, my cleaner noted that heavy furniture had been rearranged and moved across the room, requiring 2 people to move it back into place. Open takeout food containers, snack and candy wrappers, spilled beverages and dirty dishes were left on the floor, countertop, and on top of the refrigerator, as well as dropped food, snacks, and candy in the bedrooms, on table tops, on and under furniture cushions. She also noted that the master bathroom toilet had not been flushed, but was surprised when I asked if the handle was broken; she assured me there was no problem with the handle or the toilet function. It was not broken. I received a message at 6:00 am on the day they left, sent through the portal late the previous night; the guest said the toilet handle was broken, but to not come over, as they were leaving early the next morning, and would use the second bathroom. I immediately responded, apologizing for the inconvenience, regretting she had not called me so that I could handle it right away, and wishing her safe travels for her return home. Further issues noted by my cleaner include a drawer knob that was unscrewed and left far under the bed, with open candy left in the closed drawer; a shampoo dispenser pulled off the tile wall, and the front door left unlocked and open when the guest left.
On the second day of her visit, the Barbara contacted me via the VRBO website regarding ants in the kitchen. I responded as soon as I received the message, and noticed open food on the counter, and sticky countertop and sink. I cleaned the sink and counters, wiped them down with vinegar, and sprayed with an organic repellent, which I left with the guest. There were no ants. I ensured that she had my phone number to call if there were any other concerns. I checked back later, and she assured me everything was OK.
The next afternoon she messaged through the portal again, saying there were ants in the sink. When I arrived, the kitchen was in the same condition, and there were a few sugar ants on sticky spots in the sink. I cleaned, removed, and sprayed again, and again left my phone number. Please note, the house is thoroughly cleaned and sanitized before and after each guest; this is the only time there has been a problem with ants. This home is just as it looks in the photos. Bedroom windows have blinds, which were pulled up by the guests. High, small windows in a bedroom alcove overlook leafy trees and are left uncovered as there is no privacy issue. The bathroom window is frosted, as shown in pictures. The living room has full length blackout drapes. Two interior antique French doors have a couple of lower panes with small cracks; this is antique glass and does not impact comfort or appearance of the interior rooms. The “corner “ referred to is a garden shed not intended for guest access. The air conditioning is set to 70’, and each upper room also has a fan. I imagine that the “weeds “ must be the butterfly gardens, the ground cover plants, and/or those plants that have stopped flowering for the season. These also can be seen in the site photos.
