Great place, views from the porch were wonderful. If you fly fish this is a great area. Also the amenities are endless. Great host, great place to stay.
We had a great experience staying here. Property owner was responsive to all my questions before and during our stay. House was clean and ready when we arrived. Beautiful area if you are looking for nature.
Great location for fun on the Pine Creek and the Rail Trail. The cabin has everything you need for exploring this beautiful area. Host is quick to respond to questions and was very helpful. Highly recommend!
Prefer location for cyclers who want to explore the Pine Creek Rail Trail. Location is close to midway of the 60 mile trail so going north or south gives you a different ride.
The game room was really nice for the children, The street in front was basically unused so it was great for kids and their bikes. Location to the creek, store and rails to trails was very nice. Very clean inside. We look forward to returning
We're a family of 4 from Chicago- so we were looking for peace and quiet and this property delivered big-time! Blackwell is a quiet town- according to a neighbor there are only 13 year-round residents! We visited out of trout season- but I bet the location is ideal in the spring and fall- we did catch a nice 16" rainbow in Babbs Creek and a load of smallmouth and fallfish! The house was well-stocked with everything you would need- extremely clean- and the beds were made! Check-out was a breeze!
House is perfectly situated on the pine creek trail near the midpoint. Kitchen well equipped. Large living room great for a family or group of adults. 2nd floor bedrooms can be warm in June but window unit helped a lot.
Bring in most of what you need. There is one convenience store nearby. Stop at Martin’s pantry at 414 and 15 for produce, great sandwiches and treats. Eric always quick to respond. Great, relaxing time on the trail.
Eric has supplied all that we needed for a great stay. Communication was excellent. We enjoyed the fire pit for two evenings and the grill on the porch for a third evening when it rained. Deer, hummingbirds and a garter snake provided entertainment. The creek and bike trail were so close to the house. Miller's Store is steps away for icecream or browsing. Just remember that there is no cell service until devices are connected to the wifi. Everything was as described in the listing and amenities.

Great Location
This rental was located just outside the southern end of the gorge rail trail as described and is very conveniently situated near hiking, biking, and walking. The owners provided a link to a number of recommended hikes and hot spots in the area which was helpful. The neighborhood is quiet and the surroundings peaceful. The house is warm and cozy. The kitchen is fully equipped. We had a small glitch getting into the house as the code was not properly set. However, with some effort this was resolved and communication with the owner was good. There are lots of puzzles and games for all ages. This is a great location for a family with children or a group that appreciates peace and quiet.
To summarize our stay... We couldn't have loved this place anymore. From the time we walked in until time we left. If you want to stay in a perfect farmette this is your place. Remote, cozy, clean, adorable. The living room was HUGE!! BEDS SUPER COMFY! The owner Eric was absolutely gracious when I could not find my entry email. Walked me through the process when he didn't have too. The fire place in the living room was so cozy. All kitchen cabinets were all labeled and I just thought this was awesome. Barn was pretty too! I believe this will be our go to for booking every season. We were very comfortable here. Great for family, friends or even just couples. Thanks again for an awesome stay!!
This house might be fine for some people under some conditions. It was not right for us.
First and foremost – the primary heating source for the house is a fireplace in the living room. If you intend to camp out in the house next to the fire, this is probably fine. We were in and out hiking and biking so this was very impractical. Especially the first night – we arrived after dark and building a fire was not an option as we had not brought kindling with us and we were warned against gathering kindling on the property due to rattlesnakes.
Second, the beds were not made when we arrived. Again, if you are prepared and arrive during the daylight, this might not be a problem. We arrived after dark and were scrounging around looking for sheets, pillowcases and pillows in a dark house. Most of the sheets had been left in the dryer but had not been fully dried, so they smelled mildewy.
Third, the bikes provided were children’s bikes and not well cared for (bent rim etc). I specifically inquired about the bikes before renting. The response was a truthful, yes they are included, nothing about the size or condition. Had we known, we would have rented our own.
The location of this house is great – directly on the Pine Creek Trail and not far from good hiking. I think it would be nice during warmer months. The barn with its toys is also nice – would be great for kids.
This just was not the right place for two adults on a cold, fall weekend.
