About this property
Spectacular Floor-To-Ceiling Ocean View, Ground Floor For Direct Ocean Access!!!
On Kauai's sunny south shore. Floor to ceiling windows on the lanai, for the full width of the condo facing spectacular ocean views and sounds, on the side of Kuhio Shores where the giant sea turtles hang-out, with the lanai facing the trade-winds for constant comfort. Steeped in ultra warm hawaiian decor with Koa wood and etched glass and Hawaiian art, and walking directly out to the ocean from the lanai make 106 is the "best of the best" Kuhio Shores offers.
Oyster says: "the only hotel this close to the water on all of Kauai"... It's not a hotel, but I believe the rest is correct.
Our condo is distinctive with its beautiful native artwork, shell collections, handcrafted koa woodwork throughout (cabinets, bar, trim... those who know woodwork have been amazed at the extraordinary workmanship), handcrafted etched glass and mirrors, Hawaiian style decor with a Hawaiian CD mix that provides you with a relaxing environment inducing the aloha spirit. Our condo takes you back to the time when the tropics were truly a remote adventure.
You will probably not find any residence on Kaua'i with this much Koa woodwork. Contractors have expressed amazement at the the woodworking. Add the island scenes in the etched glass and other artwork for a unique one-of-a-kind island experience.
Open the windows and listen to the ocean waves lull you to sleep.
Why settle for less than direct access to the beach? From the upper floors, beach access is through the elevators then through the parking lot... while we have direct ocean access from one of the largest lanai's at Kuhio Shores.... where you can spread-out onto the immaculately kept lawn extending towards the ocean and enjoy unconfined ocean access. Where else are you going to find the ocean at such a great price with all the comforts of home?
Located steps from the beach, Kuhio Shores provides snorkeling, scuba, surfing, swimming, biking, sunning, and beachcombing without having to get in your car or even cross the street. You are five minutes away from famous Po'ipu Beach and old Koloa town; with excellent shopping and restaurants. Spouting Horn and the National Tropical Botanical Gardens are less than 5 minutes down the road. Kukui'ula Village (restaurants and shopping) is a five minute walk.
(Note that I'm getting booking requests for winter >24 months in advance, so have blocked those dates currently, and give priority to repeat guests. Come August/September (16 months ahead), I'll solidify that schedule, and open what remains for all.)
Kuhio Shores 106 is a great location! This one bedroom (plus a couch-bed), one bath, unit will be your home away from home.
Ho'ai bay, right off the lanai, is known as some of the best snorkeling on Kauai. Snorkel with the turtles and the colorful tropical fish, just steps away from the lanai (watch the video above, snorkeling with the turtles off the condo).
From the lanai you can enjoy the view across to the Ha'upu mountain range, or the sunrise on the bay, or looking out onto the ocean, watching the waves, sailing ships, dolphins jumping, or whales breaching in the distance, and the near constant stream of turtles that come within 20' of your feet to the edge of the bay to feed... all relaxing from your lounge on the lanai, sipping your morning coffee.
The lanai faces East, so the lanai is shaded from the afternoon sun, and the ocean trade winds from the East keep the condo nice and cool year round.

About the host
Hosted by The Worleys

The Worley family enjoy relaxing on the lanai, snorkeling in the bay, and hiking in the mountains. Our geospherical entries on Google Maps probably have more views of Kauai's trails than any other... feel free to inquire and we'll share the links with you.
Why they chose this property
We Love Kauai. Kauai offers all the benefits of a Hawaii without feeling overwhelmed by tourists. I spent a few years living in a rural area in the tropics in the 60's... and Kauai reminds me so much of the way things were back then (of course, with WiFi).
The island has many micro-climates, from jungle to desert; this is the dry side. It is common for the entire island to be engulfed in rain, and just as you reach Koloa, the rain subsides.
Kuhio Shores is right on the beach; you can't build this close anymore. There's a reef ~200yds. out where the waves break, so the water is normally tranquil by the condo.
We've never looked at renting the condo strictly as a business; it's for our fun and our guests fun. The greatest reward we get is in helping our guests have the best possible vacation. It sounds 'sappy' but it's true: it's been our most intangibly rewarding venture, and we love doing it.
One additional benefit has been the best, most diligent and hard-working housekeeper imaginable!

What makes this property unique
Beach House beach is most popular on the West side of the building, in front of the Beach House restaurant (where the best surfing is). Our East side of the building faces Ho'ai bay with privacy and a small patch of beach that attracts the turtles and not the tourists. There are only 8 ground-level units on this side of the building which provides privacy. If you want to see and be seen, then the beach on the West side of the building is only a short walk.
The condo faces east for the sunrise. There is a year-round ocean breeze coming from the east, providing nearly constant flow-through ventilation.
Inside the unit, the wood and art remind me of the tropics back in the 60's... so I'm a throw-back for nostalgia in this respect. It adds to the sense that you're on a remote rural island.
