Relaxing Riverview House with stunning view and HOT TUB. Take advantage of our great location and quiet setting nestled in the trees along the Sioux River. Small town services are only 10 minutes away and city shopping and entertainment is less than 20 minutes. You will have access to the Sioux River for canoeing, kayaking, fishing or just hiking by the river. (Outdoor activity equipment is not provided, you must bring your own). Due to the ever-changing depth and currents of the Big Sioux River, river access at times might be a little rustic. This is certainly not a drive up beach.
The space Staying here you will be off the beaten path, the quiet is astonishing and the night time sky is amazing! Since this is a home and not a hotel, we ask that you leave it as you found it, except we take care of laundering linens and towels. AND, if you have questions we are available at all times. Guest access You have the use of the entire house and 4 acres of property surrounding the house. In late November and early December you will be able to spend a quiet night in the house and on the weekends you can be first in line to experience cutting your own Christmas tree before heading home. Tree cutting is only available during those weekends the tree farm is officially open. You can check their schedule at riverviewtreefarm.com, If you are not sure please ask. Other things to note Please note that the Last weekend in September and first two weekends of October the tree farm hosts their annual Pumpkin Festival. On those weekends the daytime crowds at the adjacent tree farm can be large. Evenings are quiet. Come to join the Party and stay at the house! Otherwise the property is located on a gravel road but that increases your privacy and NO TRAFFIC! Hear the nature that surrounds you in the country. We are also less than 20 minutes form 2 state parks.
Also note that November means deer hunting in South Dakota. Be aware that early morning and the hours before sunset may have active hunting occurring on surrounding properties. Hearing gun shots is not uncommon and completely normal for this area. The house adjoins The Riverview Christmas Tree Farm (thus the name). During the summer months the heavy foliage of the river bottom will block a direct view of the river from the house, but the river is only a short hike away.

This is a beautiful property with room for our group of 11 to spread out. The home is in a very quiet, private area and provided us with the perfect setting for our family getaway.
For city dwellers...this is a great destination. In the middle of the countryside and nothing but birds singing and trees rustling in the breeze. The house is an absolute charmer, the hosts are awesome, and the hot tub soothes away all your worries. This city mouse will certainly plan to return.
Girls weekend with great location. It was quiet other than the wind..good ole SD wind. Great space and very comfortable home. We enjoyed walking around the property and down to the river. Very responsive host and made sure everything was ok.
We LOVED the property. Very well stocked with dishes and appliances. Plenty of room and places to walk around with no one nearby. We will definitely book again.
The property was stunning. We were a little disappointed that was no river view from anywhere on the property. After all it is called the Riverview Cabin. We loved the atmosphere and the quiet setting of the property.

Thank you for staying with us. I’m glad you enjoyed your stay. In the summer when the trees are full it is harder to make out the river as you look down into the valley, but if you take a short hike on the walking path, you can get right to the river. The property is called Riverview because it is adjacent to Riverview Christmas Tree Farm.
The elders and pastors of our church held our annual retreat here. It was a great spot to meet! Sleeping 6 grown men was a bit of a stretch since dudes don’t share beds and some of the beds are more like cots. But no one complained! Good times were had by all!
What a wonderful stay and property. Hosts are amazing! it was just perfect for our needs. There were 9 of us. The bald eagles flying over were an added bonus. This place is very large and well equipped. The most comfortable beds of any of the VRBOs we have stayed in. The only thing I would add is there are a few dangerous places for a toddler, just to be aware. Otherwise 50 stars :)

Liked: Check-in, location
Disliked: Cleanliness
Sadly Disappointed
The stay was not quite what the listing described. My overall rating was a three, but it would’ve been lower except I gave a “bonus” star because the poor weather played a factor. The property was not as clean as we’d hoped. My wife was fighting ants in the kitchen all weekend and one of the beds in the basement was very damp and had bugs on it. The hot tub would’ve been the saving grace had it not been over chemical treated. When the jets were on, it created a noxious vapor making your eyes burn and it hard to breathe. It’s called “Riverview” but I didn’t see the river. I followed a muddy trail down a hill but that just led to more soggy earth and no river. That was more so weather related. For what we paid for a weekend, definitely have buyers remorse. The property does not match the price in my opinion. May have had a better time a different time of year. If you don’t mind camping, save your money and stay at one of the beautiful parks nearby.

We apologize for any inconvenience you experienced during your stay. It is common for ants to appear in homes, and we promptly arranged for a professional service to address the issue as soon as we were made aware of it. Upon inspection, we did find sticky substances on the counters and crumbs left behind, which may have attracted the ants during your stay.
The hot tub is regularly maintained by professionals, and their records indicate that the appropriate chemical levels were used. However, they did inform us that the hot tub had to be drained, scrubbed, and refilled due to its condition after your use. We assure you that we take cleanliness seriously and strive to provide a pleasant experience for all guests.
Regarding the bedding in the basement, it is unlikely that it was damp as it was thoroughly washed, dried, and placed on the bed six days prior to your arrival. The "damp" feeling could be attributed to the basement's naturally cooler environment.
While the property is adjacent to the river, during the full bloom of trees, it may be challenging to have a clear view of the river from the deck. However, there is a hiking path with direct access to the trail for guests to enjoy. We understand that the rainy weather during your stay made the trails muddy, which is a natural occurrence in such outdoor settings.
We appreciate your feedback and will take it into consideration to improve our services. Thank you for choosing our VRBO property, and we hope to have the opportunity to provide you with a better experience in the future.
