Check in was a breeze. The owner was very cordial. The house was clean and had a great view. The only down side of our stay was it was to be a fishing vacation and there didn’t seem to be any fish in that lake.

Great family. Loved to fish but with no luck. They left the place clean as as expected. Can't wait to rent to them again.
Great location! On the lake and fairly close to a lot of wineries. Great for sunsets:)Inside of the house needs some work and updating. Basement bedroom is musty. Def need to turn on dehumidifiers when you get there. It helps a lot.Main living area is a good size.

Beautiful Lake Front
This house is located in a nice quiet neighborhood. Views for lakefront was perfect. This house def could be a 5 however dishwasher was broke and def needs a new grill on back porch. Was suppose to check in at 2 but house cleaning still there so couldn’t check in till 3. Overall myself and family had a great time!!
When you first walk in the door you’re hit with a musty smell. I didn’t notice until sitting in the couch that there was black mold covering the ceiling. There is also black mold on the wall in the basement where another bedroom is. Mold on the bedroom floor where the wall is separating. Mold in all the registers where AC was blowing. We couldn’t sit in the outside furniture on the deck the cushions were moldy/ full of cobwebs and not guest ready. We left as this was such a disappointment, and we didn’t want our children to get sick. This trip was planned months in advance and for 2300 for 3 days this house is definitely not worth it.
Beautiful location on the lake, had everything we needed for a pleasant stay. Cleanliness you can expect from a cottage on a lake. There are going to be bugs but overall was nice and clean. Only problem was getting info for check in and check out, nothing listed on check in page from vrbo , had to contact owner which wasn’t replied to for 4 days who referred me to another person who deals with the rentals. Usually there is a binder or sheet with info about garbage, laundry, WiFi etc. Would recommend going forward. Found a piece of paper on refrigerator with WiFi password and left the house as we have for most other rentals. Overall had a great time though and house was as described. Would rent again.
I’ve visited the area several times and had a great stay at this property, fairly typical compared to other properties I’ve stayed at in the area. The location is excellent, minutes from Geneva and several wineries, and you can step right out into the lake from the yard! Honestly, that’s most of what we wanted right there… but there are the usual lake house “cons” to consider, as with many comparable listings. It’s not spotless, there is some amount of ambient humidity since it’s right on the water, and for the same reason you’re probably going to see a few bugs. The only things I’d really change are having more paper towels for cleaning, some new adirondack chairs for the yard (existing ones seem close to end of life), and possibly clarifying the check out instructions (we weren’t sure what to do with towels and ended up putting them with the linens). But really, it was exactly as advertised and the owners were super responsive to concerns, including a minor issue with the sump pump that arose during our stay. I would come back!
The upstairs bedrooms and bath were clean, but the basement bedroom and bath had standing water and mold. The owner did send someone right away to clean after I was able to reach him. They did not get all the water and surface mold removed which we did ourselves. More work is needed to remediate the mold issue. The outside area was not prepped for us at all. There is poison ivy throughout the property. It was climbing up the sides of the deck and onto the grill. We had to clean the deck, table, chairs, etc. in order to use it. Two people in our party got rashes from the ivy (one bad enough to require a doctor visit). Great location, lakefront and great dock.

Family Makes Everything Better
Leading up to the visit we had great communication with the owners and all questions were answered timely which remained consistent throughout our visit. Since the parking area is rather tight they allowed us to keep the boat trailer and truck at a lot at their marina.
Upon arrival at the house we noticed that the grass was really overgrown, understanding that it had rained a lot however you can tell that it had been not been cut in quite some time. We tried to enjoy the firepit out back as best we could but with the higher grass our ankles were being eaten alive. While we were there a yard service showed up to spray poison ivy that was climbing up and through the back deck. We questioned if he was there to cut the grass too but it wasn't the case. We put gloves on to help break down the areas that were visible to us after spraying. We didn't spend too much time near the deck in fear of the poison ivy. The main living area of the house was clean when we arrived however the bedrooms and bathrooms had cobwebs throughout. The house had a "musty" smell to which we purchased plugs ins to help with the odor. When we arrived at the house the garbage cans were full and to help clear it out from critters rummaging through we took it down to the marina versus waiting for someone to come and remove it. We had a pretty heavy rainfall one of the days while we were there and the French doors within the main area didn't have a tight seal at the bottom so rain came in.

Great location! Lots of space. The dock and deck are awesome. It was a very relaxing weekend. The property definitely needs a lot of dusting as there are spider webs in most every corner. The kitchen and bathrooms were well cleaned. Overall a nice property for sure.

This property fell short
The best feature of this home is that it sits directly on the east side of Seneca Lake and has beautiful sunset views. This is the only good thing that I can say about it. The biggest complaint is that the second bathroom is located in the basement and you must go through a bedroom to get there which renders it inaccessible to those staying upstairs. The list of other complaints is long: light bulbs burned out, no coffee table, end tables, or bedside tables, no steps or ladder to enter lake, no chairs on the dock to enjoy the beautiful view, bare bones kitchen tools, and more. There is no thought for the comfort and needs of the guests. There is no trash pick up at the property- they want you to bring your trash to their marina which is 7 miles away. For us, it was 7 miles in the wrong direction- property manager Lisa agreed to collect trash for us. Lisa was kind and did what she could to help, but there were too many issues for her to correct while we were there.

We do appreciate you taking the time to write your opinions of the lake house. We read each review carefully so we can respond and take action. We have since added extra coffee tables and reinstalled the swim ladder.
We do feel our kitchen is fully stocked as many of our guests do appreciate things like a blender, measuring cups, plastic containers, plastic wraps and baking dishes, and although not used by everyone, these things are available if people want them.
We do realize that entering one bedroom to access the basement may be uncomfortable for some
guests. The houses’ layout is clearly described in our listing so we do hope that folks are aware of it in advance before booking.
The house is in great shape and can accommodate many and we were all able to spread out and enjoy life on the lake. We already talked about a return trip
We had a great time at this house! The house is way bigger inside than it looks from the outside. Great space inside. The location on the lake was beautiful. The dock was great both during the day for swimming and at night for stargazing.

Gorgeous Property!
My extended family stayed here last summer. It's a beautiful location and the house is immaculate! The owners are always just a phone call away and are the kind of people that just want to make sure your vacation is going as planned. The sunsets on the dock and the bbq's we had here will be something that my family will remember forever. Stivers Marina is 10 min away where we rented a pontoon boat to take the family out on the lake and the Tiki Bar is a great place to meet other travelers as well as the locals. I would highly recommend this property and my family will continue to go back year after year.

About the host
Hosted by Bob and Donna Stivers
We are Donna and Bob Stivers and have been in the rental business for over 25 years, rented house boats for 15 years, and we have operated Stivers Seneca Marine for 20 years. We have lived on the lakes for our entire lives. Our knowledge and experience has created a sense of security for our customers while vacationing on Seneca Lake. We want to offer an experience, not just a place to stay.
Why they chose this property
We love the Finger Lakes, this is the area that we have lived and have done business for the past fifty years. This house is approximately 5 miles from our Marina, Stivers Seneca Marine. The proximity to our Marina makes it easy to welcome guests to our Lake House. After you are settled in you can venture to the Marina for a boat tour, a boat rental, a kayak rental or just a relaxing drink at the Tiki Bar North by the water.
What makes this property unique
This property offers a beautiful dock with a gazebo to watch the sunrise in the morning or to watch the sunset in the evening. The house is situated nicely in the middle of the Finger Lakes Wine Trail.
You are only 10 minutes away from Lake Street Station Winery which has beer, wine and liquor that you can stock up for your stay. The lake is right in the backyard to go swimming or to just float around.
If getting out on a boat is what you are interested in, come down and visit our marina. We have pontoon boats to rent by the half day or the full day.
