The Historic Brickhouse Vacation Home and the Brickhouse Coffee & Kitchen are housed in a building that dates back to 1848, built by early settlers, and is one of the original homes in Refton. During the 1860s, the Pennsylvania Railroad Company laid tracks through the villages and farms, with the railroad line passing just across the road. For the next century, the building served as a residence on one side and a general store and post office on the other, becoming a frequent stop for travelers, railroad workers, and locals alike.
In 2018, the Fisher family purchased the home, and they proceeded to update the residence and renovate the store, opening the Brickhouse Coffee & Kitchen later that same year. The cafe has been a hit with locals ever since, boasting a fantastic menu for breakfast and lunch, as well as a cold case with baked goods and drinks. Each guest of the vacation home receives a complimentary voucher for any beverage.
As an Amish-owned home, there is no TV available, allowing families to disconnect from distractions and spend quality time together. However, WiFi is available for guests to use, as the family understands the need for connectivity.
Guest parking is shared with café patrons, with one designated spot reserved for vacation home guests, and extra parking available in the overflow lot. The vacation home itself features four large bedrooms, an extra bed in the laundry room, a twin sized roll away cot, a sizable dining area, and a living room, offering ample space for relaxation. Guests can also enjoy provided board games, outdoor games, and a firepit. Moreover, there is a sunroom available for al fresco dining, and guests are welcome to use the outdoor eating area located behind the cafe.
Guests have access to the entire home with the exception a couple of designated storage rooms.

The nice thing about the house is it was close to all the places we wanted to go. The hosts were very responsive. When we had trouble with the key pad and getting into the house he gave us (6 of us) free breakfasts.
The guest house was roomy and cozy and had all the amenities needed. The cafe next door was so convenient and delicious. My sisters and I had a wonderful stay and were able to visit multiple attractions and restaurants. We look forward to visiting again in the future!
Overall it was a nice property for the stay. The outside of the property is beautiful and the coffee shop next door was great! Everyone was super friendly and it’s beautiful on the inside. We wish we could say the same with the house but it was comfortable. Beds were not super comfy and the master bedroom is right over the coffee shop so it’s noisy in the mornings.
Plenty of sleeping space for all of our family members. Spacious and clean. Property manager very responsive to contact and any small issues were handled in a timely manner.
The Historic Brickhouse accommodated all seven friends for a wonderful stay in Lancaster. The beds were comfortable, the house roomy and the amenities suited us well. We would very much recommend this charming home!
This Historic Brickhouse was welcoming from the minute you opened the door. The living room was large, yet cozy for conversing with family. The house was clean and comfortable. The restaurant attached was convienient and delicious. We enjoyed meeting the owner Daniel and his sister Sadie who runs the restaurant. The location was perfect for us to go to Sight and Sound and visit local shops.
Charming historic and unique house. Having coffee shop next door was great. One of the rooms was listed as a king bed but was only a queen. Would book again
Easy to find and loved the convenience of the coffee shop!! Great location and very clean. Spent most of our stay at the house and we had a great time!
We had a lovely stay at this charming, old home. Lots of history in this place, great coffee and breakfast right next door, free vouchers for drinks, and a beautiful backyard with a play area for the kids. We would love to come back again sometime!
Lovely historic home. Family getaway weekend. Convenient location to attractions. The coffee.shop/cafe next door was wondeful. Good coffee, nice slection. The pumpkin pancakes were amazing! Host was friendly and very accomodating.
Very comfortable, clean and nicely decorated home. home. We enjoyed our stay. Sheets were super soft. Loved the coffee shop next door for a very delicious and enjoyable breakfast
Second stay at the Historic Brick-house, we really love it. The house is clean, cozy and convenient to shows, shopping and great restaurants. We enjoyed going next door and getting breakfast and great pastries.
Hopefully we will be back next year!
My large family and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay in this lovely large farm style home. It was exceptionally clean and very spacious. We loved the coffee shop within steps as an added perk. Very nice people and town. Highly recommend!
We were there for a wedding at Drumore Estates which was only 15 minutes away. We were able to eat at the atrached Brickhouse restaraunt. It was very good food and the noise was minimal. I slept through the morning rush. The bedroom sizes were very big with their own a/c units. It was cool and comfortable. I would stay again
Everything about this property was done with excellence! Communication with the property manager was quick and easy. The property is clean, quaint, cozy and well supplied. The cafe next door was great and has fantastic service.
It is close to the Sight and Sound theater and shopping! I would definitely stay there again!!
