This tri-level cabin has plenty of room for a large group. It has 2 bedrooms on the main level, one on the lower level and one on the upper level. The kitchen is fully stocked. Includes a hot tub, two firepits, and all the adventure you could ask for!
Walk out and feel the crisp mountain air and hear the roar of the South Toe River as you plan your day.
If you enjoy fishing, catch some native trout on the South Toe River which is right outside the door! There are holes on the South Toe where you can catch 20"+ native brown and rainbow trout.

Enjoy a gorgeous hike with some amazing waterfall views. Or Crabtree Falls is another gorgeous view/hike 30 minutes away from the cabin!
Or maybe you like to hang back, start a fire, soak in the hot tub, check out the river, rest your legs a bit or throw dinner on the grill as the sun goes down. It's hard not to find what you need to re-charge at this cabin!

This is the second time we have stayed here for a mountain golf weekend and we have been pleased both times. The property fit all of our needs and is in a great location.
If you are looking to get away to somewhere relaxing and secluded, this is your spot. Fly fishing easily accessible across the street. Plenty of room and well appointed, we would definitely recommend.
The property was a great getaway for our group of friends. There were a lot of entertainment options at the house and were flexible with all the weather options. The mattresses were the only tiny blemish on the entire trip. Would gladly stay here again.
We spent the Thanksgiving holiday here. Great kitchen that was stocked well with dishware, utensils, and pots/pans. Plenty of room for our group of 10 to spread out. Loved the fire pit and access to the river! Would highly recommend!
Great location close to Mount Mitchell. We really enjoyed the house, hot tub and covered outdoor deck with fire table. The river is across the street and could be heard from the deck. Plenty of room for 3 couples and 3 children.
Our family of 8 spent 2 nights celebrating our mom's 70th birthday. We didn't leave the property once we arrived. We cooked all meals there and had everything we needed for meal prep. We enjoyed the fire pit (firewood on site), hot tub and deck area. We would definitely stay again.
The house and amenities were fantastic. Location is right across the street from the South Toe River and 5 min drive to Mount Mitchell Golf Club. House was clean and well stocked - covered porch with fireplace and hot tub were icing on top. We will definitely be back with the famillies.
This cabin home was perfect for our 3 families. Each family had their own floor and bathroom. The kitchen was well appointed and the living room was cozy. We especially enjoyed both fire pits, the hot tub and the close by river for trout fishing. Couldn’t ask for more! We hope to visit again. Thank you for sharing your lovely home with us!
We enjoyed our stay at Basecamp Cabin. It is such a unique property & we appreciated all the amenities provided. The area is beautiful with trails nearby. The cabin had everything we needed, actually more than we expected. We enjoyed the hot tub, games & outdoor deck. The property was well maintained & everything was in proper working order as described. The host communicated in a timely manner to any questions or concerns we had.
This is a very nice, spacious, clean, and comfortable cabin home in a very peaceful tucked-away mountainside river stream community near Mt. Mitchell. Easy and close access to the Blue Ridge Parkway and many hiking trails.
My family enjoyed the spacious open living room, fully equipped kitchen, large deck, and the hot tub. We really appreciate that the owner provided plenty of TP, dish soap, trash bags, etc. that many rentals are sometimes stingy about.
Unfortunately, it rained for most of my family's trip... but we hope to return again to enjoy a stay during drier weather!
My family and I (5 adults, 3 kids, 1 dog) stayed at this property for a weekend. The kids loved the hot tub and easy creek access. We all appreciated the bags (cornhole) boards and the beautiful deck. We did have to clean the gas grill before we could use it, because it had been left dirty, and the basement rooms were pretty musty. There was also a relatively long list of tasks for checkout (strip beds, take out trash, load dishwasher, etc.), which felt like a lot when we paid a $230 cleaning fee.
Despite these small issues, we enjoyed the house and property, and it worked well for our group. Wade was a very responsive and attentive host.

About the host

My dad and I always wanted to go in on a mountain cabin together. We finally found what we were looking for a few years ago. I'm a builder from Charlotte and he's as handy as they come. We've had a blast renovating and caring for the cabin, getting it ready to share with friends and travelers.
We wanted to give the cabin a name that best describes what it feels like to be at the house. Because whether you spent a long day hiking mountains, chasing waterfalls or landing those native rainbow trout, make sure everyone meets back at Basecamp for a drink and a debrief!
Why they chose this property
The neighborhood is extremely quiet and some of the friendliest people you'll ever meet.
What makes this property unique
Our cabin is close to the river and many trailheads around the area and it's one of the very few houses that can sleep 12 guests.
