Our family enjoyed our time in Edisto Island in this fun beach house. It is a fun preserved piece of history on the each. The porch swing was amazing for sunrise views and the beach has amazing shells providing hours of entertainment for the kids. Only downfall is sharing 1 shower but you can make it work. Would go back!
Simple, classic beach cottage - our family had an absolute blast. Property manager went above & beyond for us, cannot say enough about how well we were treated. Plan to return to this property asap!
We loved staying at this beach house. It is an old Edisto beach house, with a wonderful back porch. It is right on the beach. Time just flew by. We are planning on coming back next year.
The house is a well set up step back to an original style Edisto beach house with all the modern amenities. The owners are clearly restoring close to its original state. We loved it. The porch is on the beach fantastic location. Great communication with our host. Easy in and out!
I loved my stay. It is an older beach house just like from my childhood but with the modern convenience of dishwasher, laundry and a/c. Absolutely loved it. Sitting on the porch is the best. You’re almost level with the beach. The owners had a beach toy box full of fun toys even adults can enjoy. We rented bikes , eas , they deliver to the house . So much fun.
The photos of the beach cottage don’t come close to doing it justice! The inside of the cottage takes you back to a relaxing slower time. From the original wood beams and walls to the clawfoot bathtub. Each morning I looked forward to having coffee on the back porch while watching the sun rise and listening to the waves. I was able to relax immediately from work and normal life (which usually takes multiple days).
The cottage was the perfect backdrop for a wonderful micro beach wedding just off of the back porch. I would 100% stay here again when I’m in the area. It was magical.
Hurricane or not, it was one of the best vacations
My wife surprised me with a Monday-Thursday stay, checking out on Thursday. To begin with, the house was perfect - it was only the two of us but it's a 3 bedroom with plenty of space; rustic, simple, cozy, right on the water and had all of the modern amenities. We really enjoyed sitting on the back porch and relaxing. To go swimming, it was maybe 75 yards from the water. We could hear the waves from the main bedroom. The television wasn't anything fancy, but it was equipped with streaming services. Most importantly to us, the property owner was wonderful. No one could have predicted the hurricane that came through on Wednesday (my birthday) into Thursday. She kept in touch. Power went out, roads were flooded and there was debris everywhere. To make sure we were safe, she allowed us to stay an extra day, check out on Friday. That meant the world. We loved the house, Edisto Island and hope to visit soon again. Great find by my wife.
Owner very prompt with communication. Had some maintenance issues that she got right on top of, although Kips fix was temporary. Clean place, awesome porch. Could use quite a few additional amenities but I'll let Roxanne reach out to me privately. Just know there is no privacy in the home because it's all original wood boards between all the walls. So you can, and will, hear everything going on in every room. We are close friends and didn't care, but if you want privacy, this isn't for you. The master bedroom has a significant slant, so if you are at all unsteady on your feet, this might not work for you. Each room has it's own heat/AC which was very nice. No door between kitchen and front porch so we did struggle a bit with cold air intruding into living room [it was quite cold when we were there]. A simple curtain or door would greatly help keep heat and AC in. We loved the ambiance of the 1934 home, loved the location. Even made it through an intense storm, although we did have water intrusion via AC unit in the window in the master and water came in the bottom of the other windows. But, the storm was very intense. Overall I think you'd like it here.
The house was right on the beach. The house was an older structure, having charm and character that you won't find in some of the new monstrosities that are unfortunately creeping down from the Outer Banks to even Edisto. That being said, the house had modern infrastructure, with heating/AC units in each room, plenty of hot water, and good WiFi. The best of old and new.

We found the house in a generally run down condition. Basic upkeep of furniture and paint in the interior and exterior was in bad condition. The washing machine seemed to have mold or mildew as it made our laundry smell after washing. Overall the entire house was moldy. The first thing we noticed was the amount of sand on the wooden floors. We rented this house 2 years ago and it was in much better shape. when we went out to sit on the porch and enjoy the sunset, the porch had several folded beach chairs that were just thrown up next to the couch.
What a wonderful beachfront cottage! Owner was super friendly and responsive. Furniture and beds very comfy. Kitchen had everything I needed. I spent 90% of my time on the swinging couch on the porch. What a fantastic place to stay!!!
Brought back so many memories of my childhood vacations on Edisto. Rustic, simple and absolutely perfect. Highlight of the trip was the kids experiencing a hatching sea turtle nest right in front of the house. Kitchen gets a little warm if you are cooking but nothing a provided box fan can’t solve. Perfect back porch complete with cozy swinging couch for a good read or afternoon nap. Comfortable beds and everything was very clean. Well stocked with all the necessities.
Built in 1934, this is the little cottage that could! Charming. Free spirited. Authentic. Not too big and not too small - perfect for a family of 5. Breathtaking ocean views. Steps to the ocean from a covered porch. Sofa swing that provided endless hours of peaceful reading with a guaranteed coastal breeze. A delightful little kitchen with all the amenities. Hostess with the mostess. And a shabby chic decorating style that would make Rachel Ashwell smile. Another guest simply left in his comments, “Guess the secret is out.” Shhhh…..don’t tell anyone!
I can’t say enough about the location of this house. We were steps from the ocean with a nice Sandy area right at the bottom of the steps for the kids to play. It was so ideal. The house as described is old timey beach house but very charming. The furniture is worn, but very comfortable with lots of room in the living room for the kids and the adults. Roxanne was quick to respond to my questions extremely accommodating. We hope to come back next year for an enjoyable, relaxing, memory making stay at Edisto Beach.
Loved this place, it is so simple and exactly what we needed. Stayed here for our anniversary getaway. The kitchen is well stocked and we appreciated the little touches like dishwashing soap and paper towels. The house is clean and beds were comfy. . Winter at Edisto
Enjoyed the rustic, but maintained cottage on the beach. The beds were comfortable and the cottage clean. The listing needs updating, there are no toiletries provided and we were unable to use the fireplace, disappointed.
Loved that this original Edisto cottage has been maintained so well! Walking straight to the beach was amazing! Back porch time was wonderful for morning coffee and afternoon sunsets!
We totally enjoyed staying in this cute little bungalo and look forward to coming back next year. The house was so quaint and cozy and was just perfect for us
Great house, porch out of this world!!! Perfect beach
This is a well cared for older home that is a vital reminder of Edisto as it used to be. I hope this, and other homes like it will continue to be a part of the community for years and years to come. The house was clean and as pictured, the host was gracious and understanding of our needs. The only thing that was hard for me to do was to communicate back to the host during our stay to let her know for future guests small things that did not meet the description such as no blender or beach towels in the home and a need for more toiletries at the sinks and showers. Not a big deal as we brought everything we needed. I do not mention this as a complaint and not something I would put in a review for other guests. The beach chairs, the porch furniture, the outside shower and rinse off locations were wonderful, so many details that we enjoyed very much. Thank you to Roxanne (I think perhaps my inability to communicate adequately during the stay may have had something to do with my insufficient computer skills...) If you would like to edit this for a posted review for a wonderful house, please do!
My family and I had the most wonderful stay in this lovely little beach house. The location is amazing in relation to both the local shops/restaurants as well as the actual surf! As a mother of two little ones, I loved not having to worry about lugging beach gear up and down massive staircases just to go out on the beach. The house itself is an original Edisto beach house and the simplicity and casual charm was exactly what we were looking for. In fact, I now plan to rent this house every year for as long as it’s available. In addition, the owner, Roxanne, was the best hostess we’ve ever had (and we’ve had many). Communication and responsiveness was spot on and she certainly went out of her way to make sure we had the VERY best vacation experience - thank you Roxanne!!
