About this property
Cozy Cabin -- Bear Forest! 2bd/2ba!
Location, Location, Location!! Near downtown Gatlinburg!
Cozy, two bd/two ba log cabin, jetted indoor tub and cathedral ceiling! Views of the woods all around!
Don't delay booking your vacation! Sorry...ABSOLUTELY NO last minute reservations and rates are NOT negotiable! (Note: Payment must be received two weeks before your arrival date.)
From hiking trails to the Glades Arts and Crafts Community to downtown Gatlinburg to the ONLY grocery store in Gatlinburg to Roaring Fork Motor Trail to Dollywood to the Great Smoky Mountains National Park--this cabin is in the PERFECT location.
Great hiking out of Greenbriar just six miles east (away from the downtown traffic); the Glades is less than three miles (again east); downtown Gatlinburg is just over one mile away (west); Food Lion--the only grocery store in Gatlinburg--is about two miles east; Roaring Fork Motor Trail is within walking distance; Dollywood Family Theme Park is 8.5 miles north; and if you want to reach the MAIN entrance to the Great Smoky Mountains National Park it is just 2.5 miles west/southwest.
Bear Forest is our second home--and not surprisingly--has a bear theme inside decor...including original watercolor paintings and photos of bears by local artists. And, the cabin gets its name by the fact that bears appear around the cabin frequently. Not dangerous--just treat them with respect--watch from a distance, admire and enjoy!
Directions in a Nutshell:
Light #3 Gatlinburg: Turn onto E. Parkway/Highway 321/TN 73; Roaring Fork Motor Trail (Light #1A): Turn right onto; Loop Road: Turn right onto; Hilltop Road: Straight (Loop veers right); Foothills Drive: Straight (Hilltop veers left); Abrams Falls Way: Go PAST the 'Abrams Falls' Street sign (bearing left) and then at the end of Foothills bear right onto Abrams Falls Way; Bear Forest: Third cabin on the left on Abrams Falls Way. Note: Abrams Falls Way is a loop, so it can be accessed two ways off of Foothills Drive. We are suggesting the SECOND right off of Foothills onto Abrams Falls.

the cabin was comfortable and nice. it was close to town but also away enough that you could stay out of the main traffic areas if you wanted to. we would stay here again.
Really cozy Cabin up in the montains next to other cabins but surrounded by vegetation. The cabin is true to its name. We had a bear visit the cabin with her cubs. The bear came up the porch and tried to open the door. We enjoyed the stay here and its close proximity to Gatlingburg. Cabin was well maintained and beds were really cozy.
This was our second stay at the cabin and it was clean and welcoming. We enjoyed our stay very much. It was nice to be in close proximity to everything we wanted to do. Highly recommend staying here.

The cabin was as advertised - very clean and comfortable, in a quiet neighborhood but close to amenities. Communication with the host was excellent, check in and check out super easy. And we saw a bear!

The cabin is exactly as described. I went to Gatlinburg to hike and the cabin was so comfortable and the jacuzzi tub was heaven after hiking all day. It is also close enough to town to have food delivered which was nice.

Thank you. We enjoyed our very short trip so very much. I sure hope we can come back and stay no less than 5 days and go at peaceful slow pace. We had to cram so much in so little time. Your cabin worked perfectly.

About the host
Hosted by Larry Strout
We (Larry Strout and Penny Rodrique) acquired Bear Forest in June of 2009. Larry is a university professor and Penny is a retired robotics instructor at a middle school.
We, and our daughter, Nicole, started visiting the Smokies in 1995 and returned frequently mainly to HIKE! We love hiking! We've been to the summit of Mount LeConte more times than you can count!
Bear Forest is really a summer getaway location and a Christmas/New Year's retreat (and soon to be summer retirement home) that we have now decided to share with you.
There are two comments people make after staying at our cabin--'We could live there!' and 'We didn't want to leave!'
Why they chose this property
Perfect spot for our needs. Hiking, arts and crafts, downtown Gatlinburg, and the grocery store are all close (along with great hiking trails) and the cabin brings us peace and quiet.
What makes this property unique
Look out the window at dawn or at dusk and you might see bears, deer, wild turkeys, or other wildlife.
