About this property

Family & Dog Friendly 'Eco-Home'.

Enjoy stunning mountain views from the open space beaver ponds or recreation path that this 'eco-home' sit on, in the historic neighborhood of Bill's Ranch just SE of Frisco. This hand-built home was constructed of recycled material blocks (known as RASTRA or PERFORM-WALL) that have 2-3 times the insulating value of most homes, along with exposed beams (plus trim and most wood in the house) made from local pine-beetle-kill logs. In-floor radiant heat is offset by a wood-burning stove in the main living area. On a recent 'green homes tour' this home was a favorite of many participants!

You'll drive down a recreation/bike path to access this house, and from here, can ride or walk to many beautiful viewpoints, including Rainbow lake which is only 1 mile away, and downtown Frisco for shopping and dining, also a mile away. We lock off the garage when we go, but you can still park several cars in the driveway off the recreation path.

Our family lives here as our primary residence, so when you come for your vacation, we're on vacation as well! Kids and dogs are welcome!! Seniors or people with disabilities may have a hard time with the stairs accessing our home, or the ladder leading to the kid's loft which can be used as a sleeping area (2-3, depending on how adventurous).

Cool summer days and nights can be enjoyed on the outdoor patio beside a small stream and gas BBQ grill. Snowy winter nights can be enjoyed by the wood-stove inside the 'cozy great-room'. The half-bath upstairs shows some of the history of this area, with pedestal sink made of a full section of pine log. The kitchen is complete with modern appliances, except for the antique gas stove-oven combination (Wedgewood, from the 50's). Pilot lights are always burning on this unit, but we have C02 detectors in the house for safety.

Downstairs you will find the three bedrooms, full bath (with a soaking tub), washer and dryer. These are small to medium sized rooms, as we like to be together upstairs, or outside! There are queen beds in all three rooms.

Did we mention how close we are to Breckenridge, Keystone, A-Basin, Vail, Copper, or Silverthorne-Dillon? A free bus from Frisco will take you to any of these places, except Vail. Copper is 6 miles (15 minutes), Breckenridge 9 miles (20 minutes), Keystone & A-Basin 15 miles (25 minutes), Vail 25 miles (depending on the pass conditions and I-70, 30 minutes) close. Frisco is your place to shop and find great places to eat.

Post-Christmas 2023

Our family had a wonderful time staying at the ECO home. So convenient located next to the White River National Forest and the bike path for winter hikes, easy drive to Copper Mountain for skiing. The open upstairs was perfect for cooking and eating dinners together, relaxing by the wood burning stove, or playing games around the table. Kim and Justin were very communicative and made our stay easy. Thank you!

Best Christmas ever!

This was the perfect Christmas get-away! The location backs on to forrest, has a little pond within walking distance, and is only an 8 minute drive from Copper Mountain. We enjoyed lots of skiing, hiking and pond hockey, and loved returning to the cozy home for family meals, games and chats around the wood stove. Downtown Frisco is also within walking distance for a little shopping and a stop at out favorite book store, Next Page. The owners were very communicative and accommodating, and I would not hesitate to recommend this home to anyone who would like the perfect mountain get away! Thank you!

Sue and Jim, along with their family, were the IDEAL guests!! Sue was very communicative before their arrival with appropriate questions, and descriptions of their group. I felt like I got to know them, and like they were people my wife and I would like to hang out with. They left our house as good as they found it, following our check-out suggestions perfectly. Since we go to great lengths to be sustainable and protect the health of our world and community, we were thrilled to find out they were driving their electric vehicle here and wanted to be able to plug it in, and that vegan condiments in the fridge were how they approach eating as well. To top it off, the entire family wrote in our guest book, drawing and attaching pictures, and warming our hearts with things like "this trip goes down as on of our favorites.." When you rent your only home, built by yourself, to guests when you're off at someone else's rental for vacation, you want it to be in the hands of respectful, communicative and grateful people like Sue and her family.
