Land Acknowledgment

I am a guest on this ‘āina visiting for the purpose of relaxation and enjoyment.

I would like to begin by acknowledging that the ‘āina on which we gather, the ahupua`a of Hanalei, part of the moku of Halele‘a, is part of the larger territory recognized by Indigenous Hawaiians as their ancestral grandmother, Papahānaumoku.

I recognize that her majesty Queen Lili‘uokalani yielded the Hawaiian Kingdom and these territories under duress and protest to the United States to avoid the bloodshed of her people. I further recognize that Hawai‘i remains an illegally occupied state of America.

I recognize that each moment I am in Hawai‘i she nourishes and gifts me with the opportunity to breathe her air, eat from her soils, drink from her waters, bathe in her sun, swim in her oceans, be kissed by her rains, and be embraced by her winds. I further recognize that generations of Indigenous Hawaiians and their knowledge systems shaped Hawai‘i in sustainable ways that allow me to enjoy these gifts today. For this I am grateful and as a guest, I seek to support the varied strategies that the Indigenous peoples of Hawai‘i are using to protect their land and their communities, and I commit to dedicating time and resources to working in solidarity. Mahalo.

Wonderful Stay at The Yoga House
The Yoga House, a House of Unity, was just that for our family. It was the perfect place to enjoy 5 relaxing and active weeks in Kauai. Various family members, aged 6 to 78, came and went and enjoyed. It came to feel like home. The house is so well stocked and comfortable. The outdoor shower, with hot water, was well used after many days at the beaches and ocean. Laurie was great with communication. It is obvious that she takes great pride in her Kauai home and that she wants each guest to be comfortable and have a great time. There is a library of books, many about Kauai and Hawaiian history. Princeville offers beautiful scenery and fun activities and beaches. Hanalei is a short drive and we visited there often. I highly recommend The Yoga House. I hope to return.

A perfect place to enjoy paradise.
Our extended family had such a special time staying at Yoga House for ten days in January 2023. We found the house to be as described - clean, peaceful and in such a great location on the north shore of Kauai. We had read the reviews about the neighbors who like their quiet in the evenings, so we were mindful of that and had no issues at all. There is a new house being built right next door, and construction started bright and early at 7am Mon-Fri. This didn't bother us since we were up before sunrise, but it would be nice to know for those who will be staying in the house over the next few months. The house was well-stocked with kitchen supplies, towels, boogie boards, chairs, coolers and everything we could possibly need for our stay. Parking was ample for three vehicles. Close proximity to stores and beaches. Would absolutely stay again - thank you, Laurie!

A gem
A beautiful home in princeville very close to the cute town of Hanalei Bay. My husband and I were thrilled to show our kids and my parents the beautiful island we discovered in 2016. This more than exceeded our expectations.

We bought this house in 2002 after searching for two years for a house that felt like it was made for Hawaii. We finally found this house and have been very happy with it. We improve it in some way each time we come, for example during the last trip we rebuilt the wheelchair ramp to the front deck, reupholstered the dining chairs and, replaced the screening on the outdoor shower. The house is a work in progress, it just keeps getting better. We are a family of four, with two daughters, including our older daughter who has a spinal cord injury. It was for her that we added the wheelchair ramp to the front porch, insisted on a single level floor plan, have made the master bathroom & shower wheelchair accessible. and have a shower bench that can be installed when needed.

Why they chose this property

We love Kaua'i. We have been coming regularly since 1994 and began looking for a house in 2000. We chose the North Shore because of the beauty of the area, the limited development, the easy access to beautiful beaches and hiking. We chose Princeville because of the accessibility to shopping, beaches and hikes. Grant loves to golf, Laurie walks for hours each day, Marissa loves to jump off the pier in Hanalei Bay and Sara likes to walk to the library and shoot hoops at the neighborhood basketball court.
