I had an amazing stay, the house was modern and the kitchen was stocked with food which made the night we arrived way more comfortable. Would absolutely recommend for anyone in the area snowmobiling or skiing at Boho.
The cabins are updated and very well kept. It was clean and stocked with everything you need plus more. Very comfortable and there are many things to do there. Amazing property and views. Bob was a pleasure to get to know and very helpful.
The Breakwater was a wonderful stop on our journey through the upper peninsula. Communication was excellent. The house was an absolute delight, and I just loved the big windows on the front looking out over the lake. I would recommend staying here - and I look forward to staying there again!
Really cool property on the shores of Keewanaw Bay. The cabins were well stocked and clean, plenty of firewood, and you can walk into the lake. Bob was super nice. We had a big group and they were able to work with us on renting multiple cabins.
The location was close enough to Houghton, but far enough away to not be in college central. We were there for graduation, but it was centrally located for getting to the college, airport, and the northern peninsula. The cabin was very clean and nice to stay in. Kitchen and bathrooms had everything for a comfortable stay. The surrounding area was very nice with lots of wildlife. We definitely would stay here again.
I enjoyed the space I didnt bring a hairdryer and there wasnt one in the house.

Hello Cassandra,
I’m glad that you enjoyed the house. So sorry to hear that the hair dryer was missing. I should have caught that when I was preparing it for you. I have an extra one in my truck, just in case. I’ll make sure that item is on hand next time. 😎. Thank you for letting me know.
Yours,
Sherry
Sherry was an excellent host. She responded to my emails quickly and was so pleasant to chat with. The cabin was absolutely perfect! It was super clean. The kitchen was fully stocked with dishes, cookware, utensils, spices and groceries! The beds were very comfortable. Every bedroom had it's own box fan (this is such a nice detail for people like me who need the fan noise to sleep)! The view of the lake was breathtaking. The grounds were quiet and well maintained. We'll definitely stay here again.

We have deep roots in the Keweenaw Peninsula. Our grandfather emigrated from Finland around 1900. In the 1920's he started a commercial fishing operation in Gay. In the next decades he established the ferry service to Isle Royale National Park and expanded his fishing business to Copper Harbor, Our Dad also fished commercially from Gay and Copper Harbor and then with our Mom and her family resort, they built a wonderful motel in the center of the Harbor, where we all worked when we were kids growing up. Now as a brother and sister team, we are converting the marina and land in Gay into a hospitality center. The views of Lake Superior are awesome here. The marina provides lots of fun. And the location is still handy for afternoon rides to Copper Harbor, Calumet, Houghton or any of the towns and restaurants and such nearby.
Why they chose this property
The Keweenaw Peninsula is a magical place. As beautiful as can be with great scenic drives, mountains for skiing and for overlook opportunities, shoreline picnic spots, historic Fort Wilkins near Copper Harbor, and so much more. Our family lived in Gay from the late 1940's up to 1960 when we moved to Hancock to finish our education. We attended a one room classroom at the school in Gay. Now the school is a really nice museum, well worth a few hours to browse around. We love so much about this part of the world and we love to share its great nature outings, its historic culture, and its beautiful scenic spots.
What makes this property unique
Our piece of the Keweenaw is especially magical because we have over 1200 feet of shoreline on Lake Superior. Lots of room to explore. The marina sits in the middle of the property and offers lots of recreation. Swimming. Fishing. Kayaks, Corn Hole. Tiki Hut, Games. Picnic tables. Great place for hanging out. Our newly renovated houses have all of the luxury and conveniences one wants from a vacation house, plus lots of rustic moments to celebrate being in nature.
