I immediately felt at home during my stay at Avalon guesthouse. It was perfect for one person for a three night-stay! The time of year allowed me to enjoy the garden and the multiple areas to relax in it while I drank my morning coffee or ate meals prepared in the kitchen. I was treated to an amazing view of the lunar eclipse over Lake Superior right outside my front door! I truly hope I have another opportunity to stay here again!

This was a great place for us to stay in Grand Marais while taking classes at North House! It was very comfortable for 2 people and the kitchen had everything we needed for the weekend. A wonderful central location right in Grand Marais. The hosts were great, would stay here again!

The accommodations were accurate to the description, but they also included extras that were greatly appreciated. Such as hymalayan salt and fresh ground pepper, extra towels, and creamer in the fridge and fresh ground coffee. The location made it very easy to walk everywhere in the bay, and the Adirondack chairs for morning coffee watching the mist over the water was wonderful. Their attention to details, everything being clean and prepared was apparent.

This is a fantastic rental for a solo traveler or a couple. 2026 was my third year visiting Grand Marais and this unit might be my favorite yet of the places I’ve stayed. MaryKate and David are responsive hosts who genuinely care about whether their guests are comfortable. The full-size refrigerator with a freezer is very convenient, be assured the apartment is secure (door pad plus a key lock on an inside door), and I liked the adjustable lighting. I’d give a sixth star out of five if I could. The only drawback to this place I could think is for a taller person (6’1”), the bathroom might be a little cramped with low ceilings.

This was a great place to stay!! My son and I stayed here and it was close to places to eat and harbor was right there. The owners are very friendly, I had car trouble and they were more the helpful. I would stay here again!!

The Garden Studio was perfect for a cozy weekend getaway! Although the footprint isn’t large, the apartment is laid out very efficiently so nothing felt cramped. The kitchen in particular felt quite spacious. Being located right off 61 across the lake was very convenient. Would love to come again!
